Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
THANK THE SWEET BABY JESUS ARENCIBIA IS ABOUT TO BE GONE PRAISE EVERYTHING YES YES YES YES THIS IS THE HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE/
Navarro seems to be a decent alternative at an excellent price. We need him to provide 1 win (.53 per year) over the course of the contract if you go by a $7.5m/win valuation which you should. He's been worth about a win per a full season worth of PA. I would have loved Chris Stewart but not bad.
I can totally see an Arencibia-Beckham trade coming up."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

In other news Rasmus and Cecil have been offered contracts.
There's some "connect the dots" thinking going on right now that because of the Navarro signing it might open the way for the Jays to get Garza considering he has a prior relationship with Navarro.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
Interesting analysis http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/1...att-garza.html
Bottom line is the author thinks, four years and $64 million.
I'm thinking in this market he gets more years.
I'm thinking if I'm AA I've got to land a number one starter because I'm fired if we don't contend in 2014 and we ain't contending with this pitching staff as it sits right now.Comment

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
Fangraphs thinks 4/50. Your source thinks 4/64. The average of that, something like 4/57 would be nice. 64 might be on the high side but even then, wouldn't be the worst signing.
I can totally see us signing Garza though."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Although he didn't outright say it last night Anthopoulos when interviewed on PTS seemed a bit frustrated that he couldn't swing a deal with the Tigers for Fister.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
Not really surprising. A SP who's healthy, puts up good numbers, and who the Jays would have full control over for next 2 seasons, wouldn't be a bad deal for them to have gotten him.
Hopefully we can get Garza now. Having HEALTHY rotation with Garza,Dickey,Morrow,Buehrle(if he still wants to be here) and then that 5th spot can be given either to another FA(or through trade) or someone from our AAA team gets it.
With Jays still in rumors for Samarszija, if they do get him, would that make chances of signing Garza go up or down? Up because they were teammates for a number of years(and we already have his old catcher Navarro on our team,so adding another guy he was with might sway things in our favor more?) or down because Jays won't have as much interest in a free agent SP since they already acquired a SP.Last edited by Majingir; 12-04-2013, 05:40 PM.Comment

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
I watched his news conference. I will have to say this was definitely out of the blue and surprised he retired kinda early. Glad he retired as a Jay though.
I would say yes he should be considered as a HOF, he was unbeatable in his prime. Dominating, went few years with mid 200's innings till the past 2 years when it finally caught up to him. Definitely one of the best pitcher I've ever watched after bad first couple years or so. I remember watching him losing his no hit bid against Higginson and the tigers with 1 out left.. That sucked! Lol.
Glad he was a Jay, gonna miss watching him dominating the games!Comment

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
Halladays return to Toronto as a member of the Phillies was awesome. Fans cheering him all game long. Felt like they wanted Halladay to win more than the Jays lol.
And then that Halladay-Bautista matchup where the face of the franchise in the past facing the current face of the franchise.

Halladay confirmed he'll be a guest instructor at spring training next season and also being a "fly on the wall" in the front office watching AA go through the draft and trade deadline process.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
