Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
Some stats about this season:
Jays have lost 10 games due to bad pitching(offense scores 5+ runs and Jays lose)
Jays have lost 7 games by a score of 4-3
Next to Cito Gaston(who had 3 playoff appearances and 2 WS as argument to stay), no Jays manager has kept his job after going an entire season with a win% less than .480% since the Hartsfield/Mattick days(to be fair, those were first 5 years of our franchise).
So should this almost be a reason as to why Gibbons shouldn't stay around? If all other Jays coaches(who haven't made playoffs) in the past 30 years haven't kept their job after a below .480 season, why would Gibbons?Comment

I think the Jays should keep the faith with him as he's starting to have better plate discipline and reward him with a good contract. (not a huge one though)Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
Shortly after the All Star Break Zaun compared the stats of Rasmus and Adam Jones and it was interesting to see that in a lot of ways Rasmus was his equal or better.

He's had a good season but I just think if we have to trade someone to get a starting pitching ace next season he's a logical candidate.Comment

Rasmus has been a pleasant surprise. I think the Jays would be wise to look around in the market and see what he would potentially bring back in a trade. We have a glaring need for starting pitching and Rasmus could be at the top of his value. If the Jays management believe Gose, or one of the other outfield prospects, is going to be major league ready next season, then trading Rasmus makes sense to make room for that prospect.

I don't think there is going to be any takers for Melky while this Biogensis stuff is still unresolved. Who is going to want to trade for a player who could be suspended?Comment

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
It's very unlikely Melky gets suspended. Hell, Gibbons just mentioned that they're confident Melky won't be suspended."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Sorry but they really screwed that kid over in some ways. Anywho, if i'm the Jays I try to find takers for Buehrle. As for Gose, he's really struggling in triple A why would you bring him up to potentially struggle worse in the big leagues? “To be honest with you we haven’t give it much thought,” Gibbons said. “We really have no idea. You wouldn’t think anything is going to happen, but Major League Baseball will decide that. Truthfully, we just go according to the day.”Comment

Is Corey Rasmus on the Angels 25 man roster? It'd be nice to see the brothers meet up at least for a photo op. Speaking of Rasmus, he's quickly becoming a fan favorite for me. He's turned from a surly, loner type to someone who's becoming more accountable for himself as a player and is starting to produce at an elite level.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
Josh Johnson has to be the biggest mystery in all of baseball. If you look at his stats since 2008 you never could have seen this coming.
It looks like he is throwing batting practise. I don't know if a single Angels hitter swung and missed tonight. His stuff just seems to have no movement. 10 hits in 2.1 innings. Wow.
I honestly feel bad for him.Comment

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
It's too bad Josh Johnson didn't work out this year.
Does anyone think AA will offer Colby a big deal this offseason? He's a full-fledges free agent not this winter but next right? I'm conflicted about what is best.Comment

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
My God. Comical .600 BABIP tonight. Johnson has had one of the most interesting statistical seasons in history. He's striking out a TON of batters, walking very few, but the baseball gods are all like LOLNOPE, and he's had some of the worst luck I have ever seen from a pitcher. And it's probably starting to affect him mentally.
Just sucks. Although it makes for an epic buy low."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
I think Johnson is the kind of pitcher who'd probably work a lot better in the NL. Something that was mentioned a while ago on the radio was that Johnson's pysche must've gotten bruised right from the jump as his first two starts he got hit around pretty good and from that point on he's been pitching scared and not trusting his stuff at all. He's throwing more breaking pitches this year than he has at any point in his career which has to tell you something about how he feels about his fastball.
If i'm AA I'm not taking the risk of giving him a qualifying offer.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
