Today in blue jays news, Wagner down for Melky, Lawrie is making solid contact, Melky is probably still injured and oh god why must Jose Reyes be so damn injury prone.

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
Though it was probably just the gate I went to, cause other people who sat near me, when they first came, I didn't see them with the ball or anything, and if they came like 10 mins after me(so no way they were out of balls), they must have went to a diff gate.
Either way, real cool to get that. Regardless the sport,I've always wanted to get a rare item that only people in attendance ever got(giveaways like hats, bobbleheads and so on people can still buy from giftshop, but only people who went to the game today will ever get this baseball)Comment

I got 2 (went with my dad). Went to gate.. 2, I think it was, the fan pass gate. Wasn't as big a crowd as I expected, honestly.
Definitely wasn't as nice as getting my Alomar bobblehead."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
It actually was a fairly big crowd. Supposedly 40,000+ people. Lots of people were already there by time I got there which is why I was surprised to not only get a ball, but see so much still remained.
People already auctioning it off on ebay! $10 is the cheapest so far, and $50 is the most(of all with actual bids). Someone selling one for over $100 lol. Kijiji goes up to $50 people giving it away for.
lol,if I knew it'd be worth so much, I'd have tried getting another. I'm not giving mine away, but I should've gotten another. Even if it meant I had to exit the stadium, buy 500 level ticket to reenter and then get the item again lol.Last edited by Majingir; 07-21-2013, 05:46 PM.Comment

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
Hope you guys had fun at the Carlos Delgado celebrations. He's such a class act.
Too bad the team is hopeless this year.
If the team finishes seven games under, I have to believe either Gibbons or AA gets axed. It may not be fair but that's the way sports is when you have a big budget and you perform well below expectations.Comment

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
I think AA gets a stay of execution mainly because EVERYONE and their mother thought the moves he made were great. The hiring of Gibbons was completely stupid though considering the options that were on the table so I could see him getting axed. The problem is, I don't think AA would be ruthless in that regard the way JP Ricciardi went through managers like kleenex. I have a feeling Gibbons will be around at the start of next season but if it looks like the same old crap he will be fired ASAP.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Gose is having a horrible year in Buffalo.
It raises the question as to whether the coaching is at fault because the youngsters aren't developing or whether the young players are overrated.Comment

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
Bullpen management and making substitutions at the right time. He's shown forward thinkingness in batting Joey 2nd, little to no tolerance in batting Lawrie 9th, and a general badassary. There's absolutely 0 reason to fire him and then go through another managerial search in a key offseason when we probably wouldn't find anyone as good as him?
I don't know WTF is wrong with this guy. He has all the talent in the world yet pitches like a soft tosser who doesn't have a good heater.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
You're probably right but I think generally it was a mistake to hire him to manage a team with such high expectations. I do like the guy and actually think he's a good manager but he may be a sacrificial lamb if this terrible play as of late manifests itself into an embarrassing post ASG record.

I gotta say I probably should've realized this would happen, my expectations where much to high. Dingers have been his problem, and that shouldn't surprise me because he's pitched in a HR-supressing park his entire career and now he's a bandbox. He's still striking everyone out and not walking many but it's not enough to get rid of the dinger problem."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

How is Lawrie batting ninth a good managerial decision? It's a pretty obvious decision when he's hitting .200.
I don't even know what "general badassary" means.
Another managerial search? We didn't do a proper one last season. AA just looked for a guy who would be agreeable to whatever AA and Paul Beeston wanted after the John Farrell disaster.
I don't blame Gibbons for this disaster of a season. That lies with the players. But why you would think he's a good manager is beyond comprehension. There's nothing to suggest that from his past resume. They pretty much rescued him from the minor league coaching scrap heap when they hired him this season.Comment

Batting Joey second is the most idiotic think he has done.
