What is this Atlanta-Toronto alliance? I'm partially interested since most of my friends are Braves fans from Mississippi. I don't know if I could sell them on Steve Delabar... seeing as they might still not know who he is even after that 4-game series.

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
85-87 could be plenty. Several projections have the 2nd AL wild card at around 87-88 wins. When I did my playout of the rest of the season, I said around 86 is what we could expect. Picking up 2 wins in 2.5 months is not impossible, especially if they actually win the games in the division they need to, those extra wins might not be needed. And the way we've played against Texas, a one-game playoff against them sounds good to me!
I was at the game today and after Dickey allowed the double in the seventh inning, he was at about 94 pitches. I was like that's a decent outing (6 IP, 3 ER), I guess he's gone now. I look in the bullpen and realize no one was warming up. They started warming up after the double. Dickey walks the next batter and I think it was Izturis who walked over to the mound. I figure they're trying to buy time for the bullpen. I thought there is no way, he pitches to the next batter. Sure enough he pitches to the next batter and Dozier launches the home run. No idea what Gibbons was thinking.
By the way it was so hot at the stadium today, I could have cooked a hot dog on my forehead.Comment

Reyes had some pop in his early/mid 20s with 19, 12, 16 HRs between '06-'08 so i'm not that surprised by the power especially since he's playing in a hitter's park.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
People talking about if Jays should be buyers or sellers, I think they shouldn't really be either.
While this season has been huge disappointment so far,we know the problems with the Jays, so just work on fixing the problems the Jays have instead of just completely blowing things up. What would it say to the fans?
"We've been rebuilding for ___ years, then got rid of many prospects in order to compete right now, but after a few months we changed our minds, so now we're rebuilding again for another ___ years and you fans can just wait another __ years to see this team possibly be playoff contenders..........But still come to our games."
Doesn't mean we shouldn't trade anyone, it does mean though that if Jays do make trades, it should be addressing the issues we've encountered this season. It's been said many times before, this Jays team is just to good to be doing bad. On paper, this is a great team, but things just haven't been clicking consistently. I think it'd be much better/smarter to fix our current problems, then rebuild for future and encounter new problems.Last edited by Majingir; 07-09-2013, 12:59 PM.Comment

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
SP,C,2B are really the main focuses Jays need to address in offseason(in that order).
Dickey,Morrow,Buehrle are ones I'd keep, hopefully Happ can recover and go back to normal, and our other injured SP could get shots too, but Jays should still be prepared like crazy. Have a MLB worthy rotation in AAA!
On baseball central they talked about moving Lawrie back to 2B. I wouldn't mind that, but only if it's because it's much easier for Jays to get a starting 3B over a starting 2B. Would be funny if Jays could sign Cano, but no way should/could anyone compete with Yankees in bidding war.Comment

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
For some reason I got banned from ever posting on SN. I sent like 5 e-mails over the course of a couple months with NO answer. Oh well, seeing the general stupidity on that site I'm sorta glad.
Anywho, I think the Jays need to get tons of pitching in the offseason, as for the trade deadline they should make what amounts to lateral moves that have a long term benefit but if AA can go all ninja on a GM then I say go for it.
At least starting this offseason EVERY pitcher will be on the weighted ball program and the couple of guys who have been on it already for the Jays are doing quite well for themselves injury wise so hopefully that'll help.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
