I actually got it mixed up in the original post. He has pitched fine outside in other places so that pitching in Toronto open or closed isn't going to have a major difference. The ball does carry more when the roof is open, but it won't have any more of a significant effect than it does for any pitcher on Toronto. He pitched outdoors all last year in New York after all.

Blue Jays Mean FB%: 36.2 %
Blue Jays Park Factor: ~1.1 (4th in the league as per ESPN)
R.A. Dickey FB%: 38.6 %
Dickey pitches more fly balls in a high run scoring environment impacted by an open roof. It won't affect him any more than it will any other pitcher, but it's more likely to affect him as he pitches more fly balls. This is supported by a 13.1% HR/FB%, up from his career mean of 11.2%. (FB = fly ball, HR = Home run)
TL;DR he's a fly-ball pitcher so the ball carrying is going to happen to him a lot.

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
RA Dickey's FB% last year: 34.1%
2011: 32.9%
It's more of him giving up more flyballs. If he pitches more like we were expecting, problem solved. Being in the AL will make that harder...Comment

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
Yeah, exactly, last year this wouldn't have been as much of a problem. But this year it is as he's turning into a fly ball pitcher, and he's giving up more homers as a result."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

I just wish JPA could be replaced somehow or at least put in the nine spot. He just makes me sad.Comment

So I didn't watch the game as I was busy today but um, WTF was Juan Perez doing pitching in the 9th inning of a tied game?! I realize Thole committed the fatal error but still....I don't exactly have confidence in Perez in a highly stressed situation like that.

The roof IS closed for Dickey's start, which amazes me, but yay no sitting in the 4000000000000 degree sun for me!"Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos watched Cuban right-hander Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez pitch on Friday in Tijuana, Bob Elliott of the Toronto Sun reports (Twitter link). The Jays made a high-profile signing out of Cuba three years ago when they signed shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria to a four-year, $10MM contract.

Yea, I never get why DeRosa gets slotted 4th when Lind has the day off. Why Rasmus or Izturis, or Davis even doesn't go there, I do not know.Comment
