Like I said before, Reyes back on Monday?!

When he returns, I think he should just be the DH for a game or two and just see how he feels after that.

Getting Reyes back would be so much like getting a high end talent at the trade deadline. It's too bad Rajai Davis can't play an INF position as I think he'd be a better fit to be the bottom of the lineup speedster rather than Bonifacio.

Jays are playing great baseball and the bullpen is one for the ages. I can't think of a Blue Jays bullpen this dominant since the '92-'93 days and dare I say it? This pen is a LOT better minus the closer.

Ya. Jays almost have a free trade happening throughout next several months(if not,by the start of next season)

We have guys like Reyes,Morrow,Lawrie all back likely by all star break. And not to mention how guys like Drabek,Hutchison,Happ could be back later on this season. And we also have relievers like Santos and Perez who will be back at some point in the future.

Almost half a MLB team on the DL and Jays still managing to play good.

Uh, did you not see last night's game? Bonifacio's defense at 2nd is pretty damn valuable, more than makes up for any slight advantage Rajai has in the speed department. Rajai can remain a late game sub and occasional starter. I wouldn't mind Kawasaki taking some of Bonifacio's starts if his bat doesn't improve a bit.

I'd be interested to see what they do with the lineup. Having Bautista-EE-Lind batting 2-3-4 is better for us production wise, but can't really see putting Cabrera 5th or 6th either. Probably won't be long before Lawrie is back either. Like I said, we don't want to mess with what already works.

We got part of what we needed yesterday. O's and Texas did win, but we got a NY/LA split. The Cleveland win wasn't that bad as we passed KC. Projections won't change much. Let's see how today goes. Getting a day off so hopefully at least Texas loses. NY and Tampa, as long as Tampa does no worse than 2-2 this weekend. I'd rather lose a bit of ground on them if it cuts the difference down on 2nd and 3rd. Another sweep would do wonders... but I'm not betting on it. They made a big deal about our record against the AL East last night being 12-20, completely ignoring that it is 11-12 against everyone we are playing the next 2 weeks, and that was when we were sucking it up. 6-4 is all that is necessary to hit Majingir's mark. With each game, I trust more and more that it isn't a fluke. At 12-4, seems hard to believe they'd crash all the way to below .500 the rest of the month. Baltimore will be tough and going 1-2 is possible, but if Detroit can handle Boston, I think we are good for through the 30th.

Something else to aim for and be aware of. In the last 10 seasons, the most wins we've had in a month was 21 in May of 2003 (also most in franchise history). Our highest winning percentage was .731 in September of 2003 (.731 in July '99, .741 in September of '88, .760 in May '84). If not for a sloppy July where they went 3-4 against Baltimore, 2-5 against Boston, 2-2 against NY and 0-3 against Tampa, they'd have been in the playoff hunt that year. At 12-4 in June, the 22 wins is probably too tough. 18 wins in a row... we can dream right? The winning percentage however, 7-3 will let us match .731 for the month.

With Ricky Romero posting a 1.48 ERA in Triple-A since going back to his old mechanics, maybe they shouldn't have changed his mechanics....

He was still having problems with his old mechanics, though. I don't care if he as 0.48 ERA down there in a half dozen starts. I am liking too much what is happening with the current rotation to touch it. We'll know a bit more next week once Wang and Rogers have another 2 starts since they are the only ones who would be easy to take out.

First to a previous point, Yeah I did watch last night's game. I just was having a fanciful dream of Rajai and Jose Reyes pulling off double steals and such.

Anyways I agree with you here, better to keep Romero in triple A until September OR maybe more likely, use him as a bargaining chip in a trade for a piece we need right now.

I want to bring up Esmil Rogers I think his days as a reliever has drawn to a close. He looks so damn comfortable as a starter out there and this was exactly what he wanted as he was a starter throughout his career with Colorado. He took the opportunity and ran with it and that's something you can't take away from him. I just hope the Jays don't take him for granted and turn him into a younger Carlos Villanueva because I think that'd be wasting Rogers' talent.

Hard to believe a few weeks ago we were worrying about not having enough pitching, and now we have too much.

That's cause guys are actually starting to pitch good now. This is more like the team we were hoping for to start season. Back in February and stuff, seemed like Happ,Drabek(once healthy),Hutchison(once healthy) among others were all gonna be stuck in the minors cause of our rotation depth.

Then came part of season where people were hoping we'd be able to get guys like Drabek back from injury to help out the rotation.

Now we're back to where we were in February where we have depth again.

Lets hope this offday does help out the team. Last offday was cause of the rain and it really did help out our guys. Now just about a week later, another offday right before heading into an important stretch. So our guys should be rested for O's series(especially since day before and after offday, they're in Toronto,so it's not like they spend offday traveling)

Just wanted to randomly chime in and say that about a week ago the broadcast showed a clip of Reyes running the bases before the game with his brace on, and man did he look good. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic, but I felt like the injury could be a distant memory for Jays supporters before we know it. *Prays to baseball gods to forgive insolent act of unabashed homerism thought about Jays*

I just wonder how he'll be like at Rogers Centre, since we all know about Jays field and injury concerns it can cause(especially now for a guy like Reyes, who had foot/ankle injury, running on the Rogers Centre field could do some damage). If Reyes gets injured playing at Rogers Centre, I think Jays should be putting the Rogers Centre field as one of their main priorities. If not changing it, at least make the ENTIRE INFIELD dirt.

Be careful when you say entire infield (we don't need dirt EVERYWHERE), but I think I know what you mean. Why it isn't designed like Tampa, I do not know. They swap out their field and it isn't a problem there.

We got a bit of a gift from Andrew Bailey yesterday. Sox can go 2-1 or worse the rest of that series and I'd be content. Similar with the Yankees; 2-1 or worse does good things for us (if Tampa sweeps, they pass NY and we can get pretty close to 3rd). Did not like the Texas win, but as long as they don't sweep the Cardinals (fat chance the way the Rangers have been playing), I think we are fine, but the more games we can make up the better. Minnesota has been playing decent this month so taking 2/3 from the Indians would be nice, but given it is at Cleveland, meh. Making up ground at the top of the list means a bit more this weekend than passing people; we have plenty of time for that now.

And that leaves us and the teams behind us. As long as we go 2-1, we're fine. KC and Minnesota are right there so it is possible KC passes us getting to play the White Sox. Taking another perspective on this, Vegas gives us a decent chance at winning (-130), but it'll be a close one, the 1.5 run line is -175 in favor of the O's. We're 2-2 against Baltimore at home so it's not like we haven't been able to win. If Dickey can get his **** together like he did against San Francisco, we'll be fine. However, he is 0-2 against Baltimore mainly because he can't keep runners off the basepaths; 11 in 6 innings in April, 12 in 6.2 innings in May. He's had fewer than 10 walks + hits just 8 times in 15 starts. Last year, he had some problems early, but after his first 3 starts, he had less than 10 walks + hits in 11 of the 12 starts. Just has not had the consistency this year.

Regarding the turf, I think Tampa can get away with it due to the fact that they don't have as many other events at that stadium AND they don't have a football team that regularly plays in the building. Trust me, before the decade is out you're going to see natural grass or dirt on the infield.

Anywho, i'm REALLY excited over this stretch of games. Can't wait to see what the Jays can do against their AL East opponents.
