Yeah that was likely his last pitch ever much less in the majors. It was pretty sad to see him crying and such though.

Hopefully the Jays can repeat their success against the Giants this week.

Best game of the season for Dickey, could have even got the CG but wisely went with Casey.

Dickey has said that with each start he's starting to feel better so maybe this will be the turning of the corner for him. As for the Blue Jays...Well gotta remain hopeful but yeah, looks like another September of meaningless baseball.

Isn't as realistic as it was a few weeks ago, but to be .500 at midway point, we have to be 16-6 in next 22 games.

It was great to see them get back-to-back excellent pitching efforts. Hopefully, it's the start of a turnaround by their starters and not simply because they were playing in a pitcher's park.

The real pitching test will be this weekend against Texas. Blue Jays killer Nelson Cruz probably can't wait to clear customs.

              He's only average in Toronto.

...and it looks like Chien Ming Wang is going to be added to the team as Fox Sports is reporting that he's going to be signed and expected to start on Tuesday. This isn't so crazy a signing as Wang used the WBC as a showcase to get himself back to the big leagues. At least he has a history of success and will help out with all the injuries to the pitching staff.

I like the call up of Thole as I think he should've been on the MLB roster from the beginning. He has a good rapore with Dickey and he has more pop in his bat than Blanco plus he's younger.

My PM box is basically full so I'll reply here....

The big name prospects he had with Jays do have their own problems, but until they reach the MLB level, we'll never truly know how good or bad they are, so guess we won't know if AAs deals were great until it's too late.

But overall, I do consider AAs time with Jays great.

He got rid of Vernon Wells and his 20M+ contract(that doesn't expire till end of 2014 season), resigned Bautista to a deal worth only 14M per year(guys posting similar numbers get around 20-25M per year), actually gave Rogers enough confidence to let him spend money(something JP never gave Rogers during all his years with Toronto).

And while you criticize the prospects he's gotten, Jays went from having one of the worst farm systems in the league, to one of top 5. Not just based off of 1-2 peoples opinions on Sportsnet or something, but majority of baseball analysts out there

I must be following a different Blue Jays team then you.

Sure it's probably too early to judge all his draft picks but to be considered a "great" GM I'm going to go out on limb and suggest you have to make the playoffs, perhaps even win a division title.

You can't lay the blame for the poor start completely at his feet but I'm not about to pat him on the back considering the Jays have never won more than 85 games with him at the helm.

I look at the two best hitters on the team -- Bautista and Encarnacion -- and they were both acquired by JP. I'm still waiting to see a great full season from someone AA has acquired. (Of course, the injuries to Morrow and Reyes haven't helped).

                        Those are some wild splits.

According to ESPN.com, over the past three years against Toronto he is hitting .320 in 100 at bats with 11 doubles, nine homers and 37 RBIs. Holy cow that's a ridiculous amount of RBIs in 100 at bats.

Not quite, or did you forget the surge in payroll when we signed Burnett, B.J. Ryan, and then that huge Wells contract in 2007? Our payroll went from $45 million to $72 million in 2006 alone, a 60% increase, much more than the 40% increase seen this past season. That payroll ballooned to $97 million under JP in 2008. Payroll more than doubled in 3 years under JP and Rogers. So actually, it was quite the opposite. Rogers seemed to be more than willing to shell out cash there for several years, and when it didn't work, they started pulling back to $71 million in 2011.

I don't think confidence in AA had anything to do with an increase in the budget. I think it had everything thing to do with how things unraveled at the end of 2012. Remember ...

                            1) You had the Escobar eye black episode.
                            2) The manager wanting out to take his "dream" job with a rival.
                            3) The team looking absolutely horrible in the second half with the young players (like Gose and Sierra) looking completely overmatched at the Major League level.

The Blue Jays "brand" was so damaged, especially by the John Farrell nonsense that Rogers realized the only way to turn things around was to increase the payroll. When Miami had its fire sale it came at the best time for Rogers.

Good to know that the entire rotation is guys at the tail end of the careers (and output). Bullpen has played great as of late and the Jays are still last (if you don't count Houston) in the AL in ERA.

Benefit of having Houston in the AL lol.

14-6 is now the record to reach .500 at midway point, lets hope Jays can do it .Would be GREAT to be at .500 mark by time Reyes,Lawrie are back.
