    Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays

14-4(to be .500 at midway point).....Looks like we should just hope the 2014 draft has lots of good players.

Our win% right now is projected to be the worst since 2004(ironically,that was the season Gibbons took over as coach for final 50 games that season, and he posted a win% WORSE than the guy who he replaced that season)

After tonight, Jays would have used 46 players on their roster. Meaning it's now in the top 5 seasons in most players used. MLB record I believe is 56 or something?

if JP Arencibia didn't have a horde of screaming girls on his side he'd be getting the Vernon Wells type treatment these days.

I hope he's gone sooner than later. I dunno how a guy with 70+ ks and only 5 walks with a .235 OBP can be a starting catcher. He has poor defensive skills and is a terrible game caller as well.

Again, don't worry so much about being .500 at half way. Like I said elsewhere, see 2005 Houston Astros. It's not like if they are 40-41, their chances drop 90% or anything.

This is the real goal they should have: win every series this month. Worst case, they take 2-2 splits in the two 4-game series and they are 38-43... not that bad and probably improved their position because of who they played. Again, see 2005 Houston Astros. Things will have to change, but it's not that important to try and go a ridiculous 13-4 just to be above .500. In mine, they go 10-8, and if all goes well, they can probably beat that; probably can't meet, let alone beat 13-4.

Game cancelled today. Now makes 2 games Jays have to make up later on in season, which could be good thing if we can get a healthy team for those games(meaning Reyes,Lawrie back and a healthy rotation)

Game likely gonna happen in August(since there's no more Jays-White Sox meetings this year, but both teams have multiple off days in August at the same time)

Speaking of makeup games...the postponed Yankees game in May is happening on August 20th. Find that abit surprising that the makeup game is on day 1 of the series instead of the day before(when Jays-Yankees both have day off) or on day 3 of series(since the game that day is at 1pm)

Toronto and New York would be playing on 20 consecutive days if it were scheduled Monday. I know Arizona had 23 and was forced to play a double header last year, so I don't know if it is 23, at least 20 or more than 20. Either way, seems to be the logical reason. Easier to play 2 one day than have no day off for 3 weeks.

The Jays will win tonight and be 6 games under .500, and then lose four games and go ten games under again. Seems like that has happened multiple times already.

The bullpen is the only thing keeping this year from being a complete wipe out. If we had this bullpen in some of our other seasons ...

The good news is that are playing better lately (6-4 in our last 10. Woot!) but not good enough to pull out a eight- or 10-game win streak to get back in playoff contention.

At least the Jays are catching a break with the Rockies being completely busted with Tulo and a couple other starters injured/out of the lineup. So I think they have a good shot of winning that series after this one but in reality the next 5 series are BRUTAL!

It's really make or break for them.

Which is why I said that Jays need to be .500 at midway point(if not all star break) or else there's really no shot of them making playoffs.

I just hope Jays don't blow it up after this season. Don't do what the Marlins did and just trade everyone away if things didn't work after 1 season, keep our guys(most of them at least), try diff coaches, sign LOTS of depth(our AAA team should be good enough to beat some MLB teams like Astros and Marlins).

They don't. have to be .500 if they're on my plan. Watch and learn.

Right now, they are just 7.5 out of a wild card. Since they already got ahead of the pace, we'll adjust it a bit.

                        1-1 @ Texas
                        2-1 vs. Colorado
                        2-1 vs. Baltimore
                        2-1 @ Tampa Bay
                        2-2 @ Boston

That puts them at 39-42. I doubt they go 11-5 in these games. Now, since the starting pitching is starting to come together, maybe in a week I'll say .500 is possible. 3 good starts doesn't convince me yet. We are 22-0 when leading after 7 innings now I do believe.

They'd probably still be 7.5 out of the wildcard given I don't see the Yankees winning the next two. Baltimore probably won't sweep Boston either so they'll probably maintain 9.5 out of the division after Sunday.

Tampa plays Boston, so we probably pick up a game on Tampa the way they are playing. Dodgers play the Yankees, keep up or lose a game. KC plays Cleveland so while they beat eachother up, we pick up a game or more on one of them. Detroit hopefully takes 2/3 from Baltimore, make up a game. Similar with Oakland Texas.

Puts us probably 6.5 out of the wild card.

For the weekend, more divisional series. Now we need Tampa to take 2/3 from NY. Us taking 2/3 from Baltimore brings them back down in the wild card. AL Central matchups hopefully help get us to Cleveland and KC in the wild card standings. Boston plays Detroit. Not too concerned with winning the division just yet so whatever there. Texas has to play St. Louis. If they keep struggling, that's a game or more for us.

It is possible we are as little as 5 out next week, but I'll say 6 to be conservative.

The next week, if things fall into place, consider it possible we are 5 out for sure. 5 games out with 81 games to go is plenty. Not being .500 doesn't all of a sudden kill your chances. Want another example of why? See Tampa and St. Louis in 2011. They were 7.5 and 8.5 games out of the wild card respectively... ON AUGUST 31st. If we are even 6 out on June 30th, plenty of time, no matter your record. Keep in mind, this team is still doing this while unhealthy. Maybe I'd buy into the requirement to be 41-40 if Reyes, Lawrie, and Morrow were out there.

I just realized that Troy Tulowitzki, Andrew McCutchen, Jay Bruce and someone named Clay Buchholz was drafted after Ricky Romero, who isnt even on the 40-man roster.

Lots of people were taken before Clay Buchholz (who haven't amounted to much; at least Romero was good for awhile), he was drafted 42nd. Not every 1st round pick can be a star.

Speaking of 2005 1st round picks you guys want to get rid of, Colby just made it 4-0.

I think Romero has a chance of bouncing back though if he ever has a bad stretch again the Jays are best to trade him away. He's essentially gone back to the mechanics he used before all the craziness of the last couple seasons. Gregg Zaun had it right a while ago when he said if the Jays had such concerns about his mechanics they should've worked on it when they first drafted him but instead they left him to his devices and when things spun out of control the tinkering was yet another thing to mess with his confidence.

Romero's never going to be a mechanically sound pitcher as he's one of those guys that relies mainly on his confidence to help him get through his wonky delivery. Anywho, with a couple more solid starts in Triple A I think he'll be back on the big club. It'd almost be like a deadline deal without giving anyone up if they can get the Romero of 2010ish.

A game made up on the O's, Rangers, and Royals. 6.5 games out of the wild card, 7 games behind the Orioles for 2nd in the division. Depending on what the Yankees do tonight and tomorrow, we could be 5.5 out going into a (hopefully) winnable series against Colorado.
