I like that Dickey looked a bit better but man...107 pitches in 5 innings? That's not exactly great. I'm really happy to see the reclamation project that is Adam Lind. If only had more power numbers as i'd put him on the All Star team.

It's also nice to see Dustin McGowan pitching free and easy and contributing to the team again. The guy's a bit of a china doll so anything from him is gravy at this point.

Oh and can Josh Thole PLEASE get more playing time?

Well, it's hard to control a knuckleball but that is a little extreme. They should have had Thole on the Opening Day roster to start anyways... It made no sense to have Blanco behind the plate...

Man, you guys need to complain about our players more. You want to get rid of Rasmus, he hits two homers this series. You want Arenicibia benched, he puts us up 2-0 with his 14th home run.

Give Rasmus another. #13 on the season.

And Lind still going. 7-0 so I almost feel comfortable wrapping this one up.

Now a series against Rockies, hopefully Jays can take 2/3 of that, and then win 7/10 in that 10 games stretch against AL East teams and Jays would be at .500!

If the Jays can win the Rockies series I will definitely be on board with saying the team is back on track. I really do think the Rox are ripe for picking at this point as well.

Still i'm not gonna get ahead of myself and start proclaiming this as the start of something big.

Yea, you guys keep tearing JPA and Rasmus new ones. Seems to do the trick.

I don't think the Rockies series is the one to really judge. The 10 game stretch starting June 21st(against O's) and ending June 30th(Against Red Sox) is the one I think will determine if Jays can still be in it or not.

Win the O's and Rays series(taking 2/3 each) and then at least splitting the 4 game Red Sox series would be fairly good for us. After Rockies series, we get an off day. The 4th off day in the past 20 days is great for this team. Lets guys rest a fair amount. Especially for 2nd half. Since after all star break ends, we play 30 games in 31 days!

So Jays need healthy team once all star break is over with. Reyes likely back during our AL East stretch. They guessed during the game it could be O's series. Jays play in Tampa after that(Reyes is having rehab assignment in Dunedin I believe?) but more likely date seemed like Red Sox series.

Don't worry I still think JPA is a piece of crap and Rasmus needs to play better.

Also Dickey needs to get that knuckler working better.

A question I remember hearing during Jays game.....

Should they sign Brian Wilson to deal(assuming he's healthy?)

I wouldn't mind giving him a shot. If things don't work out, we can always just release him or something(or waive him and let someone else claim him)

Bullpen is fine. If we still had Cordero and the 2012 bullpen sure. Is Sergio Santos ever going to come back. He was our closer for what, a week?

And don't cut it off after those 10 games. We have 4 vs. Detroit the next week. Although we could be 41-40 after the Red Sox series (I'm still not saying that yet; a sweep of Colorado gives us the leeway to do it), we could drop 3 of 4 to Detroit and lose much of the ground we would have made up.

Why? I mean I get the fact that he was a helluva closer for a period of time but the Jays already have a damn good closer right now in Casey Janssen. It's his job and he should keep it. The Blue Jays have had a history of having very capable relievers given the shot at the closer job and then have the rug pulled out from under them by management. (Jeremy Accardo is probably the biggest such case of that)

I don't know what kind of money Wilson would command though probably not a HUGE amount. I'd sign him to be the setup guy but he'd balk at that i'm sure.

How did Accardo have the rug pulled out from under him? He started 2008 as closer after his great 07, had a terrible stretch, and then was out most of the year with an injury and missed the first half of 2009. Can't exactly blame management when they've had to use replacements for well over a year; sure, maybe he could have been given more of an opportunity, but he's been a below average reliever since the injury so probably wouldn't have lasted.

Good point though I believe he always felt a bit shafted by the organization. That's the point i'm making. Janssen has been doing yeoman work through the years and he's found a role for himself. I'd just hate to see it taken away from him just because we're taking a flier on a guy who I personally think is a bit of a flake.

Jays hired Jamie Evans to be a consultant on the team.

He's known for having some sort of special pitching training program that helps pitchers with pitch velocity(and I think just overall pitcher strength/conditioning too?)

Supposedly his routines and stuff are real well known all over, and it also can help reduce amount of injuries guys get. Hopefully this does work for us, cause seeing so many pitchers over past 2 seasons struggling/getting injured is getting annoying.

                                Speaking of pitchers/injuries....
How soon do people see some of our pitchers being healthy enough to play again?

Drabek will be throwing 2 innings in intrasquad game this week

Hutchison threw live batting practice on Friday

Happ threw bullpen session last week

Morrow throwing simulated game on Monday

Santos threw long toss on Friday
