Definitely not, he's just starting to come back.

Cliff notes from today in Blue Jays land:
    • Marcus Stroman strikes out 13 in 6.2 IP
    • Adam Lind hopes to return tomorrow
    • Anthopoulos is actively looking to acquire a pitcher
    • Blue Jays aren't looking for a catcher upgrade
    • Brandon Morrow is 'pain free' and threw from 60 feet today
    • Early August return is likely for Morrow
    • JA Happ threw live BP but isn't close to returning
    • Kyle Drabek will probably be optioned to Single A once his rehab is done and he will slowly work his way back up
    • Hutch is getting close, throwing live BP
    • Luis Perez is being moved very cautiously
    • Santos 'feels great' and is starting rehab tomorrow night
    • Anthopoulos acknowledges Lawrie was rushed back
    • Lawrie is on a 20 day assignment and should be back in 2 weeks
    • Aaron Sanchez is scheduled to start

    And other things: http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb...red-blue-jays/

EDIT: And to clarify, this means that Lawrie will be kept in the minors even after his rehab is completed, in an effort to take their time with him as opposed to what they did with him last time, a la Drabek. Here's a nice piece on him.

This piece of news was glossed over on the long weekend, but the Jays plan to keep Brett Lawrie in the minors once healthy.

Hence the "if". After his setback a week or two ago, I figured it would be all-star break at best. Sooner the better it sounds like.

And then I ask who? Well, when Sanchez starts, unless he's a miracle worker, I'm not expecting much from a High A guy getting thrown to major leaguers.

Todd Redmond called up, someone shoot me.

Our pitching depth right now includes Marcus Stroman, Thad Weber, Sean Nolin, Claudio Vargas, and Justin Germano.

        WOW GUISE CLADUIO VARGAS

I remember getting some good starts from Justin Germano in fantasy... 6 years ago.

Yeah the rotation depth is actually there but um injured or in rehab. At least Wang gave us a couple good starts. It'll be interesting to see how things go from here.

BTW JP Morosi said tonight that the Jays could hook up with the Phillies for Ruiz or Michael Young at the trade deadline and not to expect the Jays to trade for pitching.

He said that tonight? He literally tweeted earlier that we weren't looking for catcher upgrades. And we've been scouting the hell out of every pitcher possible.

If Young could play 2nd, I'd take it (though I'd be fine with Izturis getting a lot more playing time there). We should never have had to trade for him in the first place though! Put him at 2nd in the order in front of Bautista, EE, Lind, and a hopefully 100% Lawrie. Sucks putting Cabrera at the bottom, but at #9, he's a good guy to lead back in to the top of the order if everything comes together right.

And also, I'm tired of seeing "JPA should bat 9th". In the AL, you don't put your worst hitter 9th (especially when he's not really the worst hitter, see Bonifacio). Granted, since no one at all really hits down there, there isn't a good turnover guy to put 9th. Kawasaki is pretty good at making things happen so he fits the profile when he plays. JPA has power, you keep him in the middle so that if when he does get hits, they do something, unlike if you are hitting after Bonifacio, Kawasaki, etc... these days.

Yep he did, dunno when he made the tweet but he made those comments during the pregame around 6:45ish time.

Josh Johnson is the poor man's AJ Burnett. That's not a compliment and I hope the Jays let him walk at the end of the season or maybe AA can fleece some dumb GM.

                      AJ was so underrated.

But **** JJ, he's so bad right now. His xFIP shows he's better than this but I don't want to wait for his ERA to regress. Trade him at the deadline and hope he gets better, 'cause we should be selling (partially) imo.

I agree, I only mentioned AJ because early on he was a lot like Josh Johnson in some respects but then he started clicking. I don't see that happening with Johnson though. Dirk Hayhurst made a great point about how it seems like Johnson is pitching scared as if he doesn't fully trust his stuff.

Seriously though, don't know what else Jays can do. Old format didn't work, rebuilding didn't work, getting good established players didn't work, what else can they do!?!

Basically whatever the Cardinals did lol. An elite hitting prospect would be nice

I don't think it's ALL bad but I dunno what exactly is the problem either. I'd like to know how the hell the Cardinals do it...I think a little more balance in the lineup with guys who can hit for average more than power might help this team out.
