Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?

This is geared towards the more serious pro-am players in here:

Thoughts on the most effective center build(s) for team pro-am?

I have played primarily the 2-4 positions this year, and would like to try out some time at the 5 as we get to the tail end of 2k18.

I have 1 center build that I don't play on at all, a 7'3 minimum weight defensive sharpshooting abomination. Can stroke it from 3 but just seems far too weak and lacking at rebounding to be truly effective against the big boys.

So I am now seeking suggestions for any viable center builds that can be worth playing.

    Thanks

Depends what offense the team runs. Id say sharpshooting rebounder or rim protector.

Yeah, it really depends on what your team runs.

If you are playing with a 4 that can stretch the floor, then I think rim protector is a really great build. Glass cleaner types are good too, but I've found the rim protector to work the best overall. If we played against teams whose center would help off on my drives then I'd put their big man in a screen situation and try to force a switch.

          I'm also considering..

          6ft4 Two-Way Playmaker

          And

          6ft4 Rebounding Playmaker

Both will offer Bruiser and Posterizer. I'm just concerned how long it will to reach 86 Ball Cotrol because the max cap is 88.

I'm not concerned about the 3 point caps because I'll upgrade to 70 and or 75 and stop there.

Form a team, put sharpshooters around you, and you're all set to dominate down low. Post scorers are very hard to stop one-on-one with the wide variety of animation cheeses that 2K has given them this year.
Absolutely and wholeheartedly disagree. I have a 6'3 pure playmaker friend, and I'm a 6'7 pure point forward. While I do concede that I wish I'd made him taller, I don't believe that hurts the build. My point forward is my most dynamic player, and that's saying a lot. If my slashing shot Creator was taller, he'd have been my main character for longer than he was. Due to his size (6'4) I have a harder time playing defense on the wings, and if I am running point I feel I'm wasting his scoring potential. My 6'4 playmaking slasher doesn't shoot as well, but he's better for the point to play defense and initiate action by driving and kicking.

HOWEVER, when actually allowed to run the show my point forward is a monster. I'm usually matched up on a much slower wing player, and if they switch a guard onto me I have the size advantage. I can step back 3 at a good clip, shooting after a pick is butter, and there's no substitute for HOF dimer. I can finish in the paint, with light traffic, but using him as an inside player is a waste. My 76 3 pointer with base 9 is extremely reliable. Better than my 74 3 pointer with catch and shoot silver, corner socialist silver, and off someone else's HOF dimer also.

Pure playmakers are hands down the most underrated build this year. They can be extremely effective, and everyone jumps a good 10-15% in shot percentages. Absolutely worth a lower finishing rating.

              Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?

Didn't feel like making another thread for this but the way charges can be drawn is so *** **** stupid. Played these guys who would just stand at half court trying to draw it (since they're clearly not capable of playing actual defense)

I would see it, have my guy come to a stop, and just try to go around to the left/right....but the game would suck me right back into him, like I was going full speed, giving me a charge...even though I came to a stop and literally tried WALKING around him

Eventually I'd just dump it off to someone else, but it's still stupid

My bro has a pure point foward and he’s so damn fun to play with . His passes are so crisp and he can score. That HOF dimer will have you dunking and shooting like crazy too. Especially with a boost.

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?

I made a 6'4 210 Rebounding Playmaker PG inspired by Jason Kidd and Josh Hart.

I must say.. the build is meeting some expectations and exceeding some others.

I'm impressed and surprised with his consistency and ability to finish at the rim. I have been struggling immensely to connect from 3 at the top but the corner has been reliable. Passes are snalpy and the recipient is generally set up well to score immediately - this part im very pleased with.

Defensively, I don't get as many athletic snag animations as I expected.. I feel very grounded on defense but as an object of mass the character plays with a solid frame. I defend the drive well as well as the paint. I'm impressed with the recovery quickness on the perimeter.

Overall, the results have been about an A-.

I won about 15 straight with JYOUNG who used his 6ft4 Two Way Slasher and our homie who used a 6ft10 Shot-Creating Sharp (KD type build).

There's lots of potential for better results considering I made this run with no badges as an 82 overall.

Having 2 players on the same court with HOF dimer isn't fair for the other team. We all shot a high percentage from the floor, I think I missed 2 3s in 4 games, and I shot at least 4-5 a game.

It's to the point now where I'm standing in the corner and my man might be 4-5 feet off, I'm completely still. He closes in my face and I'm yanking like I'm a sharp. It's crazy how much confidence it gives you.

I swear bounce passes are broken tho. It's almost the best pass on the game if I hit it right. It looks amazing. The person shooting the ball is always like "this looks good".... clank. It's weird. Sharps can hit off everything, they don't believe in the power "I get greens anyways, bro" but when you hit them with the slickest pocket pass off a pick and pop and they clank, it's my fault?

                            LMFAO

I'm almost exclusively hold passing and flashy right now. Bounces when I feel bold.

Created a Sharp shooting Playmaker SF. Not a bad build. 89 3pt, 88-89 Mid Range, 79-80 Pass, 76-77 Ball Handling(so can decent dribble package). With size can pull down rebounds. Low Speed but with Acrobat you can finish around rim and Ankle Breaker you can create space for yourself.

Question: if I don't improve my player, will it still be faster to rep up after multiple cap breakers? So if I stay at 60-61, will it continue to rep up quickly even if get multiple cap breakers. If so, i would wait until I get enough upgrades to get over 92 OVR so I wouldn't mind the grind after that

No. Overall doesn't matter to hitting cap breakers because they don't start until 85. It's still the same grind.
