Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
is anyone made lower weight(7'2 center 225 ibs) and lowest shoulder width? i know its prelude and diffuculty is not hard but with that combination i feel like post moves success(like drop step) and rebounding better than max shoulder withd and max weight(300 ibs)
btw both of them post-defending centers

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
I'm with you here. I was a 96 all hof badged shot creator last year and the moving shot patch completely destroyed the archetype. He was my favorite character to use however. He wasnt THAT athletic but could hold his own. Offensively I was more of a liability in the Pro-Am because what I excelled at I needed space and driving lanes. When playing walk on it's hard to effectively communicate that with randoms. But I would still average close to 15 -4-4 with him. Nothing great but the limitations we had to deal with along with know how they seem to be the most balanced and 'op' build grinds my gears as well. I'm probably going pure shot creator this year again.Comment

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
Was thinking to make some more players than i did at 2k17 due to more possibilities from dual archetypes, but being unable to see how much ratings you get in each category before spending VC really complicates it. This is such cheap and greedy move by 2k, especially when we have signature moves locked behind the rating threshold which we cant check until VC spent .
I got concern that having "passing and ball handling" in your combo will just be too valuable in general for any back court build. And the reason is "speed with ball rating" which is one most influential rating when u speak of slashing and shot creating. And most likely it will depend on Ball Control upgrade.Comment

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
I do understand that. I guess I've just learned to deal with it better than other things. Especially in this community, I just understand that it's YouTube driven, and people who think for themselves are now the minority.
Thanks for the civilized answer, man. I remember seeing your stuff in the threads before 17 came out. You have good insight.

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
I never paid attention to it until just now, but it seems like if you do the trick to try the Prelude again with a new build, that it keeps the height of your first character, even though you changed it for the second guy. Not sure about the archetype too, but I went to try a 6'11 big man and realized he was around 6'4 like the first guy I made.Comment

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
I see lots of people all across the Internet talking about shot creators being overpowered this year when we don't even know what their speed with ball rating will look like. If that rating is down in the 70s like it was in 2K17, then you can forget about trying to be a primary ball handler with that archetype. Last year, shot creators could make a good dribble move that got them a step or two of separation, only to have their defender catch right back up to them before they could get off a shot with that sluggish 70s speed rating.
The best use of a shot creator in 2K17 wasn't utilizing his hall of fame dribble moves, but instead, playing off-ball and punishing bad close outs with quick floaters and pullup jumpers off the catch.Last edited by jyoung; 09-10-2017, 05:04 PM.Comment

I can wait for the full game, I guess.Comment

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
I'm going to throw this thought out here, and I want guys to take note as I'm calling it now: All the guys hunting for the "OP", "speed boosting", or "HOF" badges alone are falling into a trap.
I must have a 100 videos in my feed about what archetypes can do what, or speedboosting, or what gets what badge at HOF. Zach Timmerman flat out told everyone that their best bet is to make a guy that fits them. I can tell by the twitter posts where people are arguing with Mike about moving shots being better than standing shots. These guys will try to make their God player, and they will crash and burn in one way or another. I really think this game is balanced this year, and it will come down to who knows exactly what they can and cannot do, not who can do everything. We'll see what happens, but I really think going after badges or demigods is a trap this year.
I really want thoughts on Driving and Finishing/Shot Creator compared to Shot Creator/Driving and Finishing.
My heart is in the slasher/shot creator but I think the shot creator/slasher build is better attribute wise.Comment

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
Yeah a lot of people going with the shot creator / 3 or shot creator / playmaker build. I don't think half of those guys will know how to use the build right .
I'm also seeing a lot more defenders this year thanks to the 3 and D builds .#1 Laker fan

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
Too many people just looked at the ratings on 2K17 lockdown defenders and assumed they couldn't shoot, when in reality, they could get greens from the corner at a 70% rate and get friendly whites from the top of the key or the wing at a 40% rate.Last edited by jyoung; 09-10-2017, 06:01 PM.Comment

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
The funny thing about that is 2K17 lockdown defenders will probably end up being more reliable three point shooters than 2K18 3 and D defenders just because of how much tougher the shooting is going to be in general this year.

Thankful for the dudes at NBA 2k lab. Got no doubt they'll have a lot of good info.
I think they said a rating of 60 would shoot 25-35%? Might have the numbers wrong, but the point is that a rating of 60 means you can make it, but it's not exactly a shot your offense should hunt for. But what about when you get dimer and whatever other badges may come into play?Comment
