Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?

Anyone heard anything about speed boost and if it will be in the game or not?

Also, what do you guys think about Drive and Finish/Shot Creator? Obviously theoretic opinions off of the limited information you have. I was thinking of using that for my point guard. Everyone is posting videos about Shot Creator/Slasher, but that build only has one HOF badge.

As a largely offline player i could not care less about what Youtuber's influence or don't, so for my own amusement i can just try them out until i am happy.

I think i am definitely going to start off with a ball-handling role, on first glance i like that you can set two skills there. Playmaking and 3 point shooting are what i chose in the prelude for my PG, should suit the way i play the game well.

If you were a Shot Creator from 2k17, you'd know why it bothers us.

For a good majority of 2k17, about 80%+ of the community, INCLUDING A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF USERS FROM OS ALONE, clowned the hell out of Shot Creators. Many were deadset on them being the 'worst archetype.' There were very few Shot Creators out there, and even fewer Shot Creators that knew what the heck they were doing. And even then, it was like 'Well, I mean, they're only a niche archetype for _____ only.' So us few who stuck by it had fun despite overall criticism.

Then comes 2k18. Now, because YouTube is spreading this message of "OMGG!! DA SC/PLAYMAYKUR AND SC/3-POINT GUN B OP!! MAEK NOW!", everybody, INCLUDING A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF USERS FROM OS ALONE, want to rush the bandwagon on the same archetype they wanted to clown before. (Builds that I had gone on-record talking about throughout 2k17, saying if SCs had the appropriate ballhandling and speed w/ ball, they'd be unstoppable)

It's just something that doesn't sit well with me.

btw both of them post-defending centers
you might get bodied in the paint that weight is way to small for a center, especially if you going up against one of those 7'3 340 pounders they might be slow but their godly in the paint. boxing out you will literally get pushed backward, they will easily move you around for deep position. Weight truly matters this year. for bigs and guards

this is a prelude on a non challenging difficulty everyone build looks nice but you gotta also think about how it will fair online when the game drops and your playing real comp

Mike Wang didn't call it that, but he said there is an elite dribble package if your ball control is 86. I assume you need that to speedboost.

its in the game people are making builds just to be effective at speed boosting lol. Team work is irrelevant in 2k nowadays

must have cheesiest build to iso and be a "dribble god"

Haha, right. I'm just hoping I can survive Pro-Am games as a 6'4 guard that has 10 3-point shooting upgrades.

I'm going to throw this thought out here, and I want guys to take note as I'm calling it now: All the guys hunting for the "OP", "speed boosting", or "HOF" badges alone are falling into a trap.

I must have a 100 videos in my feed about what archetypes can do what, or speedboosting, or what gets what badge at HOF. Zach Timmerman flat out told everyone that their best bet is to make a guy that fits them. I can tell by the twitter posts where people are arguing with Mike about moving shots being better than standing shots. These guys will try to make their God player, and they will crash and burn in one way or another. I really think this game is balanced this year, and it will come down to who knows exactly what they can and cannot do, not who can do everything. We'll see what happens, but I really think going after badges or demigods is a trap this year.

No offense, but... this and posts like this are lowkey pretentious and hilarious as hell. Dude. If Player X calls archetype 1 trash, then player X probably doesn't excel with that build, and therefore doesn't see the perks to using it. Now, if 2K18 rolls around, and archetype 1 is receiving an upgrade that favors player X's skillset, his opinion may change.

If people called the archetype trash, and are now using it, what do you want? Brownie points because you used it when it was "trash"? Get outta here with that. It's a damn archetype. Simple.

It's not just you. I've seen LD's do it. I've seen Post Scorers do it. None of you created the archetypes. None of you had dibs. Play your game, and let the kids or adults, or tryhards, or "n00bs", "CH33z3rz", "dribble gawds", and simheads play theirs.

This wasn't a rant on you, specifically. Just the entire vibe of wah-wah entitlement kind of compelled me to say something. @ me or don't.

The first build 6'11 but that might be too short for pro am.

Well the way I look at it, any improvement on the SC archetype is a plus for me. All the "noobs" or whatever you wanna call them, they'll choose it, not know how to correctly utilize the skill set, and then come up here and complain. You'll see a bunch of SC only shooting spot ups, not creating space, and shooting horrible mid range shots because they think they're supposed to just make those. It's no different if you went lockdown defender or slasher or whatever. The archetype is just a base to build around. But if you don't use them correctly it don't matter.

6'8" point forward/post scorer is the 1st build I tried in the prelude and it was pretty cool pushing away weaker defenders while driving or in the post.
