Re: The strongest punishment to side sway spam

almost every match in division 5 ends up being a guy walking up to me, standing stationary and swaying all over the place hoping he gets one uppercut to rock me

even when you win against that its not fun, at all.

It's based on the footwork stat.

You said we wouldn't be able to move our head when gassed. When I am saying that shouldn't be your first line of defense.

You want to be defenseless in that situation?
I think there’s some confusion regarding what Im asking for.

Same way we still have power with lower short term stamina i’d want head movement to still be effective. Let inefficient usage of head movement result in faster long term drain. Once the fatigue animations set in head chaining should be super difficult for anyone. Singular slips would still be viable

You just need more practice. Its a really hard and complex game with many interlinking systematic systems in place. It can be hard to fully grasp whats happening. Stick with it and it will click! Then youll Bang!

Im not having any issues with sway strikes. I just come at guys throwing the right combos at the right time. Its all about memorizing a few hundred combos then staying focused and alert and unleashing devastation at the appropriate time. I have zero issues blitzing swayers and rolling them over.

              Games bang on.

Also why don't those arguments work for lunges? They have a stamina tax and no one is prevented from lunging when gassed, you just get fatigued lunge animations.

This guy is correct. I practiced and he's right. Shut down the thread.

I don't think we should be able to use head movement when we are completely gassed, with zero stamina.

I did say having very low long term stamina and just dodging a couple of punches draining our stamina to the point where we can't respond is silly.
I continue to think that's silly.

No one said it's the first line of defense. But it is one line of defense that would undoubtedly be effected by introducing a stamina tax.

You have a complete misunderstanding of a stamina tax.

It does not mean moving your head will automatically enter a stamina deficit in relation to your opponent.

You can still profit off whiffs like lunges now, just excessive head movement would result in a net tax.

You know the other lines of defense? Lunges have a stamina tax and you can still lunge with low stamina, blocks have a break meter, etc.

Head movement irl is tiring, yet in this game it does not tire you and has a great reward in sway counters which none of the other lines of defense have.

Which make it the best line of defense in this game when it shouldn't be.

Because back lunges in particular can be spammed and actually never be punished.

Head movement can be spammed and can also be punished.

I'm so tempted to add a long term stamina tax that is half that of a landed jab just to shut down the argument, even though it will accomplish nothing.

head movement should have appropriate stamina tax for balance. Even though it is very small and Even though it isnt going to solve the current issue.

Back lunges have a stamina tax, so therefore it is punished by the very definition.

Back sways are as effective with no amount of tiring plus power counters.

                                Head movement is more profitable.

And this is why it's so common and why there are so many complaints about it.
