Red Sox roll the "Dice" as O's continue to struggle at home!!!!!
Baltimore, MD - The Orioles came in riding a 3 game winning streak and looking to draw closer to the top of the division as they went head-to-head against front running Boston. What they found out though, that in order to be the best, you have to matchup and eventually beat the best teams in the game. Tonight, Boston showed the Orioles why they are the best of the AL East. The Orioles for some reason can't get it going in their own yard. With a record of 12-11 on the road coming in, they were just 5-12 at Camden Yards on the season, and that trend continued this evening mainly because on one dominant pitcher in Daisuke Matsuzaka. The Red Sox phenom went 8.0 innings without allowing a run to improve his record to 4-2 in 2008. The Red Sox got a run in the 4th inning on a controversial play at the plate. Melvin Mora tried to gun down Dustin Pedroia who broke to home on a ground ball by Jason Varitek. The ball beat him to the plate and it sure seemed the tag beat him to the plate, but the home plate umpire seemed to not think so, as 35,000+ boos rained down after Pedroia was called safe at the dish. The game remained that way until the 7th when Kevin Youkilis homered onto the flag court in right to push the lead to 2-0. In the 9th, the inning would continue after a 2 out throwing error by Melvin Mora. Youkilis then came up and made the O's pay again by belting a single to center to score Jacoby Ellsbury and giving the "Sox" a 3 run lead going to the last of the 9th. The O's made some noise in their final trip by getting Roberts and Mora on with nobody out to knock Matsuzaka from the game, but reliever Hideki Okajima got Aubrey Huff to ground into a 4,6,3 double play. Jonathan Papelbon then replaced Okajima to strike out Luke Scott to end his 12 game hitting streak and the ballgame. The short 2 game series concludes tomorrow before another off day for the O's.

Edwin Jackson Takes A Lickin'!!!!!
The Yankees rout Edwin Jackson for 5 runs in their win.
Under the lights and on the road in Tampa Bay, the Yankees scored a 10-7 win over the Rays in front of a crowd of 36,031 fans at Tropicana Field. Leading the way offensively was Jason Giambi, who had 3 RBI's and 3 hits in 5 at-bats. Andy Pettitte allowed 5 hits and 4 runs over 6 innings, and the bullpen was able to close the door to seal his 4th win of the season.
Game 3 is this evening, with Phil Hughes (0-0, 4.50) taking the mound for the visiting Yankees and Scott Kazmir (2-5, 9.00) getting the nod for the Rays.

Re: Highheat's Orioles (MLB "The Show" '08) Final Attempt!!!!
Hey man, thanks for following. Nope, I have injuries on, I've looked and other teams have had them. I've had a couple in mid-game but nothing became of them. I lost one player in AAA and the AI made a move, my only transaction of the year so far. This concerned me a little, so I went and simulated another franchise selecting the O's and simulated every game for 2 months and there were numerous transactions and trades involving the O's, so they happen. I'm not worried about it, because I like having my group together like that. I'm guessing promotions only happen when injuries occur, but I'm scared of losing Bynum, because he was one of the ones that got traded during the simulated test.Highheat's O's Franchise

Red Sox conclude short sweep of Orioles to stay atop AL East!!!!!
Baltimore, MD - The Boston Red Sox turned to knuckleballer Tim Wakefield tonight at Camden Yards against the last place Orioles. Tim delivered just over 6 innings of effective pitching and got out of three crucial jams with runners left on in scoring position to pick up his 5th win of the season. The "Sox" after trailing 1-0 entering the 2nd inning batted around to score 4 times paced by captain Jason Varitek's 3-run home run to left center field off of O's starter Daniel Cabrera who's record fell to 4-3 on the year. In the bottom of the 2nd, the Red Sox lost a key member to their squad for about a week as Dustin Pedroia went down with a pulled leg muscle during a relay throw back into the infield. The "Birds" crept to 4-2 entering the 9th inning when Alex Cora hit a home run, which at the time was not known that it would be the difference in the ballgame, onto the flag court in right field to go up 6-2. The O's made some noise in the 9th scoring twice, but as fate would have it left guys at 2nd and 3rd to end the ballgame when Kevin Millar grounded out to first base to complete the sweep. The Orioles remain in last place at 9.5 back of the Red Sox and will have the day off tomorrow before hosting the sorry Nationals for three games to determine who has bragging rights in the Baltimore/DC region.

Up 3-0, Looking To Sweep!!!!!
Another road win has Yankees ahead 3-0, thinking sweep.
It took the Yankees 12 innings, but they were able to beat the Rays in Tampa Bay, winning by the final count of 9-7 in front of 35,621 fans at Tropicana Field. Derek Jeter was a force offensively, going 3 for 7 with a home run and 2 RBI's to lead the charge. Working in the extra frames, LaTroy Hawkins picked up the win, allowing no runs on no hits in 2 innings. In something of a minor achievement, Derek Jeter hit career home run number 200.
The Yankees can wrap up the sweep at Tropicana Field, with Mike Mussina (3-3, 4.17) and James Shields (2-2, 2.37) scheduled to oppose each other under the lights.
