Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
First 18 hole round is in the books! Man, that was a freakin' blast. I shot a 117 on a par 70 course. Just how badly did I do? Haha. Lost 7 of the 15 balls that I brought, which was actually a bit better than I expected!
Can't wait to get back out there and keep working at it.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
About to play another 18 holes tomorrow! Its at Brighton Dale Golf Links (anyone knows about it.) It's a normal par-72, heres the link to the website if anyone is interested: http://www.golfbrightondale.com/course.html . Ive never played there before, so we'll see how it goes!
BTW, im only 15 now, but ive gotten into golf since i was about 3 or 4, and i play just about every week now. So, cut me SOME slack lol. not much, but some. i think a 90-105 should be the range for me tomorrow.Last edited by itsmb8; 07-12-2013, 12:48 AM.PSN / Xbox GT - BLUEnYELLOW28Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Sprained my knee on July 2nd, after I put a sure shot grip on my putter. Haven't been out since. It is feeling better I figure another week or so and I should be good. Only other problem is the weather here in central MD has been crap as of late with rain just about every day. So that is making me feel better about the knee since no one has really been out playing.Moderator

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Went out today, did pretty well. Had a lesson beforehand to make a tweak or two. My irons are looking very good, and as the day went on my driving got a little better. On the 12th hole, I hit the best drive of my life. Around 250, dead center of the fairway with a little fade around a pesky tree. On the 13th hole, I nailed a shot with my driver again, but the driver head came off. Wow. Didn't see that coming, the shot was still pretty good though. Now I have to go get it repaired. Luckily, I survived the rest of the day with a 3W on the tee.
Also, on the range before hand at TPC River Highlands (didn't play there, just the range), I accidentally hit two balls at once with a pitching wedge, and they both got onto the green over 100 yards away. That course looks so much different with all the Travelers equipment taken down.Red Sox|Patriots|Celtics|UConnComment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Lessons are starting to pay off. For the first time in my life, I have been able to more or less hit the driver relatively straight. Still not consistently or with any semblance of distance, which I figure will come with time and repetition. But not having a ridiculously violent slice every single time feels wonderful. Apparently I had been gripping the driver with a slightly open face the entire time. My instructor had me adjust that a bit coupled with a couple of other tweaks, and it has made a world of difference.Comment

As it is...I'm not good at all. I don't even have a full swing (backswing doesn't go back all the way). But I can do ok.....just inconsistent with my distances. I play low-stress golf, just for fun....and I'm fulfilled by just one or two really good shots when I play.GO 'HAWKS!

Man, that's great to hear. When our financials improve, I'll take a lesson or two.

I'm the same way, low stress golfer. Even a terrible day at the golf course is much better than, say, a good day at work.Last edited by thaima1shu; 07-16-2013, 01:57 PM.Comment

I'm taking lessons now too, and the main thing I need to work on is my swing speed and club head speed. I've played baseball forever so it's impossible to adjust.Red Sox|Patriots|Celtics|UConnComment

My best shots are always when I relax and let the club do the work. When I try to kill it, I top it or it goes right, or both.GO 'HAWKS!

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Best advice I can give for this is literally try and look at the ground as long as possible. Basically exaggerate the length of time you watch where your ball was sitting. Your body rotation will naturally lift your head to watch the ball flight.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles
