    Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

A great 9 holes compared to what I have been doing. If I wasn't playing in trees and going out of bounds on those double bogeys, I could've stayed under 40.

Hit some really nice shots and drives were great.

Being on the shorter side, I deff see how shorter irons could help my swing, the more I look, the more I feel awkward to the ball with standard irons. I think I'll get a 1/4 to 1/2 inch off.

Chamber's Bay was awesome. Had a more enjoyable time this year than I did last, as it was humid and raining last time. Today was 70 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. A little windy, but fine. There were 4 temp greens today, but the course seemed to be in really nice condition, as expected.

Here's my card from a round I played at this course on Saturday. http://www.ledgeviewgolf.com/

Never played there before and my score reflected that, especially on the first nine. The green speeds were some of the fastest I've ever played on. You would make a tiny stroke and the ball would just keep going. Way too many 3 putts on the front nine for my liking but I slowly got used to the green speeds on the back nine. Pair that with my horrible short game and my inability to keep my driver in play off the tee, I shot an 86 which should've been low 80's

I definitely need to work on my short game though, I neglected it all winter.

What app is that? I like how it tracks whether your tree shot was left or right.... or on rare occasions (for me) in the fairway

It's an app called GolfShot. Really good app as it keep track of a lot of different stats, club distances, scores, etc.

To add to this if you have Apple the free version is called PGA tour caddy but on android you can get the golf shot lite.

Just scheduled my fitting session for tomorrow at 2 PM. I cannot wait. Will post my numbers whenever I get home with which clubs I settled on.

                  Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Just got back from my custom fitting, just wanted to give my details plus a review of how Trackman was..

Trackman - This thing is SWEET. The trackman is behind you and you aim at a blue rectangle in the netting. The thing tracks so much detail, club speed, ball speed, attack angle, spin, carry, total distance, etc.. so much. After each swing it also shows if you went left, right, or straight and the golf pro went over in detail exactly what I needed.

A great example is the shafts. Since I went with Mizuno, I used the golf shaft optimizer and it picked 3 shafts to choose from. Since my tempo + club speed (82-84 MPH) was stiff, I had 3 stiff shafts with the 3rd option being the KBS Tour Soft Stiff. The first I used was the Dynalite Gold XS300 (The same shaft the club pro had just put in his Mizunos), it was average in weight. The second was a lighter shaft and the third was the heaviest. The first one I loved, I hit it solid, the numbers were right and the spin I believe stayed in the 7000 range or so, exactly where he said it is supposed to be. The second shaft I hit very solid and club speed and ball speed went up a little, but the spin was way over 8000! (8800 RPM to be exact I believe) therefore he said I would lose a lot of distance with that much spin. The third was solid, the spin was pretty good but the numbers were not as good as the first shaft. Without Trackman, it would of never been so clear. This thing was worth every penny.

Onto my order: Total was $674 after tax. I opted to go with a 4-PW with the 4 being a hybrid as I swung the hybrid and it was so smooth and so easy to hit, since I would like to get better, I opted to get the 4 hybrid over the 4 iron as the Pro and Mizuno App suggested.

I went with the Mizuno JPX 825, a very nice clean looking club. Very forgiving but gives the appearance of more player irons and not as clunky as the Jpx EZ were.

Details: I had 1" cut off each iron (My size + Wrist to floor is how this was determined) and was upright 1 degree.

This is my Mizuno DNA - Shot Average
Headspeed (MPH): 83 Tempo: 4 Toe Down: 3 Kick Angle: 5 Release Factor: 4

To add to how cool this guy was, he let me hit his brand new driver to show me how a shorter driver can help me (He was about the same height as me) and even gave me free lessons as the session was roughly 2 hours. He showed me the flaws in my swing and by time we were finished, I was swinging so much better.

He cut my driver down 1" as well and put a new grip on for free since I bought the irons. Very helpful. I gave Rob a hard time about used irons being just as good, boy was I wrong, the Trackman truly showed me how clubs not fit for you can really hinder your performance!

So after shooting 9-over 45 on monday. ... I do this

I now feel like it was totally fair of me to blame the weather (it was 40 and about 20 mph wind) and course conditions on monday.
Today, it was a comfortable 64 and sunny with probably 10-12 mph breeze

Us moving really put a crimp in my early spring plans. I had intended to take two 60 minute lessons but my wife apparently turned into a hoarder so I've been dealing with all her ****.

Been toeing the ball a lot recently with my long irons and can't seem to get right. Playing Musket Ridge and Maryland National in May and June respectively and looking like Congressional in August. I really want to take another 10 strokes off my game this year like I did last year.

New clubs should be here Wednsday or Thursday. Interested to see how new clubs and ones that are fit improve your game.

On the longer irons, I switched out my 4 iron with a jpx fli hi 4 iron. Same shaft. Same length. Hits the exact distance of a 4 instead of like most hybrids.

For those that would like an easier long iron, the jpx fli his are a great club. Super smooth and hit just like an iron. Be crazy to not have atleast one, especially if you have a mizuno set.

Yeah, I use a 2-iron hybrid (instead of a 5 wood) and a 4 iron hybrid both 2013 Nike Converts. I really only hit the 2-iron about three times a round. I love my hybrids. We will be all moved in a couple of weeks so I will go get a lesson after that, at least one before musket ridge, because that course is gonna be rough, very few even lies in the fairways.

Not sure if you were responding to me rob but actually te fli his are not hybrids. They're labeled as actual irons believe it or not haha. Same shaft as my iron set and everything. Same length as a normal 4. They are direct replacements instead of compliments like most hybrids. If you struggle with a 3 or 4. I would honestly look into them. They're really neat.
