I was one of those people overly critical about that look but I now see why they went with it for Action (at least to start) Morrison is basically giving us a younger and updated version of the Golden Age Superman so the outfit makes a ton of sense as the GA Supes was a man of the people. That's the point of the whole Jeans/T-Shirt look. It's a visual representation of that Average Joe mentality that Supes has here.

Thinking about subbing to a few DC series with the new run starting. Definitely choosing Batman, Detective Comics, and Swamp Thing. Any suggestions for two others so I can get the free 5th sub? Considering Batman: The Dark Knight, Nightwing, and Action Comics but am open to other suggestions.

Action will definitely be superior stuff with Morrison writing. I'd also suggest batman: Dark Detective mainly because David Finch is writing and he did a great job with the 1st volume. The problem though with the 1st volume was that it was SLOOOOW in coming out. I think there won't be that many delays this time since there's an emphasis on getting the books on time these days.

As for a 3rd title? Not sure, i'm actually looking forward to Aquaman.

Doesn't appear to be a digital subscription option.
Not that there's a store to get them here anyway but don't have to worry about them selling out at least.

There's a guide for the New 52 here with suggestions here: http://screenrant.com/dc-new-52-comics-benm-130014/

          IGN reviews too: http://comics.ign.com/index/reviews.html

Also that site that was linked earlier: http://www.bleedingcool.com/ seems pretty useful.

hm, one is a lesser sequel in quality compared to the first storyline associated with it (Batman: The Long Halloween) and the other is one of those turning point moments in what was then modern DC continuity but as the years have gone on it still packs a punch but isn't as amazing as we all thought.

I'd go with The Killing Joke since most Joker stories are superior stuff.

                Get both.

Killing Joke is a classic read but it's a short read.

And then get Batman: The Long Halloween. And the Hush series.

You really can't go wrong with either one of them. I personally like Killing Joke more if for nothing else than what has already been stated, Joker stories are usually good. This might be my favorite Joker story. Really though, you can't go wrong.

Long Halloween should be before Dark Victory.

I've never read Hush mainly because i've read material afterwards and it's really crappy IMO. How good is the actual original stuff?

I was a big fan of the actual main Hush stories. Never read the stuff after it.

It is certainly interesting and entertaining. Hush was the first graphic novel I bought, so it was a great starting point as it basically includes as many characters connected to Batman as possible. Definitely not the greatest Batman story, but its worth reading. Plus, I've always liked Jim Lee's art.
