Why the hurry to lose so much weight in that time frame? 15lbs in a month is a lot at your weight.

Just an extreme goal, more likely I should get to the low 180s. If I wasn't hitting the weights, I would have been there already.

Wat? I'm not sure I follow you. How is going to the gym slowing your weight loss?

Are you eating at a deficit or no?

I've been hitting the weights, and eating more because of it. It's not 'bad' weight, if that makes any sense.

In short, I've trimmed down in waist size, not so much on the scale., the past few weeks.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, you're probably gaining muscle mass.

I think too many people worry about some arbitrary number for their weight, honestly unless you are severely over or under weight I don't even think you need a "set" number to get to. As long as you are healthy, feel good about how your body looks, and exercising/eating well you don't really need to worry about the number that pops up on the scale IMO.

Exactly my point. I dropped 21LBs from Jan 1st to March 1st and since March, I have dropped maybe 1-2Lbs. However, I'm down to a 33 waist, from about 35-36. I fit into Medium shirts again, comfortably at least.

                  Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE

I haven't been posting here, but I figured I would now.

I've dropped a little over 30lbs since the second week of January. Dropped from between 390-395 down to 360-365 (I use the 390-395 because my weight fluxes, like most people, but one day I'll be 395, the next 390, then 392 etc). Now, Don't think just because I say I weigh that much that I look that much, haha. I'm one of those guys who carry around weight extremely well, not the blob.

My plan is just to get to about 330lbs by October which is possible, I just have been doing more power lifting and "cardio" lifting (to get cut in my shoulders, back, arms etc). I lost 60lbs in two months my sophomore year of high school to go from 340 to 280 (played defensive line). I half-*** running on the treadmill on cardio days so I'm not losing as much as I could.

The big problem with the weight is I've probably lost more then 30lbs of fat, but my muscle has increased dramatically since the first day (next week is the end of the third month) that my weight kind of sits at 360-365.

The only reason I want the 330lbs by October is so that I feel fit enough to go try-out for the Pittsburgh Power for next season.

                    I agree with this.

I still check my weight every few days, just out of curiosity and habit, but I really don't care. At this point, any gain I get is just a bonus for me. I can weigh anywhere from 231-235, depending on the time of day. I don't have much body fat at all either, so I know it's all either water or muscle gain...

I do have a small weight goal, which is reaching 240.

There are some dudes I work out with that are several inches shorter than me, but stil weigh right in the same ball park.. perks of being tall, I guess

Totally agree with you guys. The weight on the scale is an arbitrary number that can be affected by so many factors it's almost worthless to really judge progress by. Sure it can help a little to track progress when combined with other things (like how you look in the mirror, measurements, how you clothes fit etc) but you can be 200lbs and 10% body fat and look like an NFL running back or you can be 200lbs and 30% bodyfat and look sloppy as hell.

I haven't missed a training session in the last 10 days. I am alternating weight training days running days and feel like a million bucks.

Has anyone tried those Vibram shoes for running? They look a bit silly but apparently are good at helping you run without injury in the long term and are kinda like running barefoot with a bit more protection.

Two more days until my official weekly weigh in, but I took a peek after work today and was down to 256. I'd love to be able to say I am 255-254 going into Easter.

If anyone is using a calorie tracker, I love Lose It! I definitely recommend it. I made a nice blog article about that and Noom which I wasn't as fond of.

So now I finally have some of my goals down before August.

Like I said in a previous post, my weight currently is 137/138 lbs. I graduated college back in 2010 at 125 and I have been hovering at 135 for a long time now. At only 5'4" it sort of shows a bit, but my weight goal is to trim myself down to 130, so I need to lose at least 7/8 lbs.

My bigger goals are to cut out my slowly developing double chin, cheek fat, to gain muscle, and to increase my stamina significantly.

I went to Vitamin Shoppe today to pick-up some Whey Protein and Protein Blend and the two I planned to get was the ON Whey and the BSN Syntha-6 after reading reviews and stuff about it. For me it was a toss-up between my old "reliable" Muscle Milk (Yes, with all those Glycocyamine and Heavy Metal articles that really shook up CytoSport) and BSN Syntha-6. I did get the ON Whey (I've used it before as well) but I ended up getting Muscle Milk instead of Syntha-6 mainly because the store had a great discount on product.

I was hoping to see this thread be a bit more active since it's already 18 pages and it's been just over 3 months in the year.

There was more than there is now... Hopefully I will be more active coming up. It has been awhile since I have put down an update, but here it is and unfortunately, it is more of a lack of progress report.

Basically, life got in the way. Long story short - I have been dating a girl for 2 ish years and got ****ed. Gave me an excuse to stop working out and eating right. No more excuses though.

I have been trying to quit drinking (at least so much) and smoking at the same time. It is not working, so I am quitting drinking first, as it disrupts my schedule more, and will make quitting smoking in a few weeks easier. At least, any time I put a solid week or so without drinking together, my ex would come over and we would stay up until the sun rose, drinking and smoking cigarettes, before passing out until that evening, destroying any semblance of a regular schedule. That is not a problem any longer.

Additionally, my 99' S10 seems about done. So I am looking at a 12 mile round trip on my bike four times a week for work. How is that for cardio lol. So starting tom, no more drinking, clean eating (not really a problem for me), and getting back into a rotation at the gym. No more excuses for me, it is time to finally do this 100% and do it right.

Edit: I just stepped on a scale and I am 233 Lbs. I am 6'5", so that is not terrible, but it is mostly fat. I don't care about what my weight ends up being as long as I look/feel better and get stronger and more healthy. Because of some other situations, in every other respect, this is about a two year waste in my life. I am going to take that time to better myself physically and mentally. It is time.

Lol, you see the fact that I am single just motivates me to work out even more, and go harder.

I want the chicks walking by in public to be like wow why can't 'my guy' be ripped like that.

I hope if I do find someone, that I won't lose motivation to work out, I'll keep myself in check because I'm doing it more than just for looks I want stamina, and strength performance increases for my physical job. So I think I'll be ok.
