I just had a really great game Dolphins vs. Vikings (me). This was the first game I've played in a while where special teams played such a key part. I had two punts returned for touchdowns which helped make up for my poor offensive showing. Thanks too everyone who has worked hard on making this slider set great!

Not looking at pass breakups. What I am looking at is when the receiver is open and he just plain drops it. I was seeing drops more frequently before we changed to 65 and then it was good after the change. Now that I dropped it back again I expected to see a similar result so you can see why it feels off to me.

From what I've seen penalty sliders need adjusted up just a tad for certain penalties. From the box scores people are posting. Its looking like 8-10 penalties a game.

2014 averaged 12.11 penalties a game. Some teams being more disciplined than others. Like Seattle led with 8 penalties a game and the lowest team was Jaguars at 4.6 a game. But per game is 12 on average for both teams.

footballdb.com has great stats on penalties and what type but not to complicated where its hard to understand.

I know its hard to keep a balance what is to much and what isn't but the only way to do it is keep a record of what calls are being called.

Based on all teams from 2014...

False start was called 9-29 times a year per team

Offensive holding 9-21 times a year per team

Defensive Holding 4-24 times a year per team. Looking at each team. Defensive holding is called 2-3 times more than DPI is called just fyi.

Defensive pass interference 2-13 times a year per team
(This is important. I know a lot of people playing this game and in the past say DPI isn't called enough. Only 2 teams last season had Defensive Pass Interference called more than 10 times in the whole season and that was Tennessee at 13 and San Diego at 11. As you can see DPI is called on average 1 time a game on each time and that's at most. Statistically speaking Jacksonville and Miami only had DPI called 2 times last season.)

So DPI is one to use carefully. You can go a whole nfl game and not see DPI called.

Offensive Pass Interference was called 1 to 8 times a year per team.

Offsides 1-11 times a year per team

Roughing the passer 1-8 times a year per team. The 8 times team was Houston (imagine that, haha)

The 12.11 penalties a game do count total penalties but the numbers above on how many times a year per team does not include offset or declined penalties but those shouldn't effect numbers to much.

I'm willing to start keeping track of penalties called because based on real life. You should be able to a game or two or three without seeing a certain penalty called. 3 penalties a quarter whether they are declined or not including delay of game.

False Start is one I think people bump up to much because its only 5 yards and helps with penalties add up. But remember false start sometimes doesn't happen that much. 10 NFL teams only had false start called on average once a game. And at the most 29 times in one season. Technically you should at most see false start called 3 times a game or sometimes once a game factoring in both sides.


Now I'm not sure how Madden programmed penalties if its an average all
around or by player or by team. But teams like Jacksonville, New Orleans, Miami were very very low in penalties called and teams like Seattle,Buffalo,St Louis, New England had a lot of penalties called.

Of course with averages you can add this and that and when, etc all day. Because averaging 32 teams over 17 games is a lot

So to break it down

Offsides should be called 2x a game total on average
False start 2x a game total on average
Offensive Holding 1-2x a game total on average
Defensive Holding 1-2x a game total on average
Roughing the passer 1x every 2-3 games. Texans were the only team to have roughing the passer called more than 5 times last season. A lot of teams only had 1-2 roughing the passer penalties the whole season.
I don't have enough info on illegal block in the back.
FaceMask based on 2013 stats. Atlanta led the league with 5 facemask penalties and most teams at just 1-3 the whole season. So we shouldn't be seeing a facemask call every game. Just doesn't happen. Maybe 1x every 3 or 4 games
Defensive Pass Interference 1x a game total.

Some people I guess wanna see 1 penalty of every type called in a game and that just doesn't happen. Like facemask,roughing the kicker, etc etc.

Started over so I could set up 32 team control for the Auto Subs (this is just a test franchise anyway until the patch drops). So, once again. Browns @ Jets. USed 15 minute quarters with a 15 second runoff. Using the auto-subs for the CPU seemed to definitely help get the backup more carries, though I may turn up fatigue just a smidge.
