Braves make pair of minor moves with rumors of a larger deal coming
(Sometimes I think I have more fun with the suggest trade feature than I do actually playing the games)
It's July, which means it's the start of the trade season in MLB. The Braves made a pair of minor moves, but a team source says the team is working on a larger deal that could be consummated in "a matter of days."
In a swap of relief pitchers, Alex Reyes goes to Atlanta with Yoan Lopez heading to Houston. Each pitcher has spent the entire season in Triple-A. Reyes was a former closer with the Cardinals who was non-tendered last season and signed with the Astros.
With Reyes on board, the Braves sent Ryne Stanek to Tampa Bay for outfielder D.J. Stewart. The Rays signed Stewart last offseason after he was non-tendered by Baltimore. Stewart appeared in just one game, going 0-for-3, ironically against Atlanta. Stanek joins his third team this season. He was acquired by the Braves after being designated for assignment by the Astros.
Both Reyes and Stewart have been optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
Thru all of my drama with '22 lately I have lost all of my Franchise data, my fault not the games, so I am starting fresh. Which honestly might not be a bad idea.
So I am doing something I have always wanted to do. I am starting a single team Franchise with the Orioles. They were, along with the Senators, my childhood team. The Senators were my very first Baseball game that I ever attended. I only remember images and feelings as I was pretty young but I remember. When the Senators left I focused on the O's. I was there when Ripken broke the record and have followed them more than any other. Though I did follow and become a Nats fan as they were the "new guy" in town. Maybe I will do each? The Nats have some good memories as well. They were the first MLB game my Daughter and I went to.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread
I decided to try an unconventional lineup and bat my best base stealer 4th, with the thinking being I don’t want Marte trying to steal in from of Lindor and Alonso, so I went McNeil, Alonso, Lindor, Marte. First inning I get an opposite field single from Alonso and with two outs Marte hits a double that he gets thrown out trying to stretch to a triple but the fact that he drew the throw to third allowed Alonso to score on what would have otherwise been a close play at the plate. Then tied 1-1 in the 8th I get a solo HR from Lindor and go on to win 2-1. I think I’ll stick with this lineup for the time beingComment

Braves sweep Brewers
Game 1
Brewers jump out early in this one taking a 2-0 lead when McCutchen homored 405 feet allowing Severino to score in the 3rd. Acuna Jr. would tighten the score with a solo HR in the 4th 2-1, now. Braves would take the lead in the 5th when Dansby Swanson would hit a home run allowing Albies to score, 3-2. The Brewers would quickly tie the game back up when Severino would hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 5th to make it 3-3. 7th inning Severino would make a difference once again when he doubled to left allowing Brosseau to score. Brewers 4 Braves 3. In the 8th, Austin Riley hits a solo home run to make it 4-4. The game would go an extra inning and in the top of the 10th Olson would hit a home run allowing Acuna to score, Braves 6 Brewers 4. Rosario would hit a solo home run a couple of ABs later to make the final score which was, 7-4.
Acuna gets player of the game going 3 for 5, HR, 2B, RBI, 2 R
Game 2
Brewers take the early lead in the 2nd when Narvaez would hit a RBI single allowing Renfroe to score. The score was Brewers 1 Braves 0 for a while. In the top of the 6th, Yuri Gonzalez would hit his 2nd HR of the year allowing d'Arnaud to score. Braves 2, Brewers 1. The Brewers would tie it back up in the bottom of the 6th when Peterson would hit a solo HR 396 feet. Braves 2 Brewers 2. Top of the 7th Acuna hits a solo HR making the game, 3-2. Braves win. Game 3
For the third game in a row, Brewers jump out to an early lead. In the 2nd Taylor would hit an in park home run allowing Narvaez to score. Brewers 2 Braves 0. After that embarrassment, the Braves were determined to have a 3rd comeback game in a row. In the top of the 3rd, Ian Anderson would take hit by pitch to get on base. After a hit and an error, Anderson would find himself on 3rd base and score off of a sacrifice AB from Olson. Brewers 2, Braves 1. Albies would hit a solo home run in the 5th to tie the game, 2-2. Cardinals split 2 game series with the Twins
The Cardinals (28-24) split their 2 game weekend series with the Twins in Minnesota. The Cardinals are 2.5 games back of the Brewers in the NL Central.
The Cardinals won Saturday afternoon with Jack Flaherty earning his Major League tying 8th win of the season. The bats were strong as the Cardinals won 9-2 with Nolan Gorman sparking the offense with 3 hits and 4 RBI's.
Sunday the Cards felt good with Robbie Ray, but his up and down season continued as he was knocked around to the tune of 4 homeruns, 8 runs in just 4.1 innings of work. The Cardinals would be boat raced 14-3 in this game.
The Cardinals return home for a 3 game series to begin the week against the Reds to finish the month of May.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

2022 Arizona Diamondbacks 08/12-08/14
Overall Record:73-46 (1st NL West 3.0 over LA Dodgers)
Diamondbacks sweep Rocks again
The Arizona Diamondbacks swept the Colorado Rockies for the second time in back to back weekend series. The first series ended in 7-2,9-8,4-2 victories while the second ended with games of 11-7,13-5 and 5-3.
In the series, Ketel Marte broke out of his 18 game HR drought with three which included two in game three. Those two homeruns were key in the victory in the closest game of the series. During the stretch, Marte fell significantly behind the NL homerun leader, Fernando Tatis JR who currently sits at 37. Marte's three in the series brought his season total to 30 so he has a bit of work to do if he hopes to win the NL homerun crown.
Arizona will look to continue their road success in an upcoming four game series in San Francisco.Comment

Jacob deGrom with hamstring injury leaves game in Washington after 5ip
The injury occurred as the Mets were leading 5-0 over the Nationals to start the 6th. After giving up a hit he pulled up with an apparent hamstring injury and was forced to an early exit.
Mets held on to win so he did pick up his third win of the season. After the game luckily the injury was not serious and as of now he is not scheduled to miss his next start vs Seattle.
With Alonso out since mid April and not due back until late June the Mets need their star pitcher to stay healthy to win the games where the bats can't get going.

BRAVES BOLSTER ROTATION
The Braves continued their wheeling and dealing, acquiring Jose Berrios from the Twins for Sean Newcomb and Huascar Ynoa. The teams also swapped a couple of minor-league center fielders in the deal.
What it means for Atlanta
The Braves are all in as they try to repeat as World Series champions. They already boast the deepest bullpen in baseball, now they also have one of the deepest rotations. Berrios (6-4, 3.94) will be the fourth starter behind Mike Soroka, Max Fried and Ian Anderson. They'll be a tough out in October.
What it means for Minnesota
Quantity over quality as the Twins try to balance competing with rebuilding. The Twins (39-37) are right in the thick of the AL wild-card race. Berrios certainly would have helped them reach the postseason, but there's also a good chance he'd leave in free agency at the end of the year. The Twins will hope Newcomb (5-4, 5.43) and Ynoa (2-0, 2.25) can vill the void this season while boosting the rotation in future years.
After a solid 2021, Newcomb got off to a hot start but fell apart over the last six weeks, earning a demotion. Ynoa was called up to replace him and pitched well in two starts. The Twins need Newcomb to regain his early-season form and Ynoa to continue his strong pitching.Comment

Yankees Sweep Angels, Take 2 Of 3 From Tigers, Twins.
At June 10th, the Yankees sit at 44-20, good for a 6.5 game lead over the Blue Jays.
BREAKING: Yankees Set To Acquire Andrew Benintendi, Whit Merrifield From Royals:
With the 28-35 Royals already open for business as the Guardians and Tigers pull away in the Central, the Yankees have pulled off a move that potentially sets them up for the rest of the season.
For The Royals: In return, KC acquires prospects SS Oswald Peraza (A POT), SP Deivi Garcia (B POT 72 OVR), OF Everson Pereira (B POT), and SP Luis Medina (B POT). The main prize is obviously Peraza, but prospects Medina and Pereira are dominating the AA level.
For the Yankees: The Yankees have been rumored to be looking into adding an OF even after signing Brett Gardner to replace Gallo. At age 38, asking Gardner to play CF nearly every day for the rest of the season isn’t so viable. The LH Benintendi is enjoying a career year, hitting 316\413\\511, and is set for FA at the end of the year. Benintendi will allow Gardner to slide into a more comfortable part time role where he can stay fresh, and adds versatility being able to play LF, CF, and RF.
He also allows for a key change to the Yankee lineup. Benintendi will slot in in the lead off spot, letting DJ LeMahieu slide back into the middle of the order. LeMahieu is hitting 354 with RISP, and the Yankees want to give him more of those chances to do damage with runners on.
As for Merrifield, his contact bat has fallen off a bit, only hitting in the 250’s, but he can still play solid defense all around the field, and is an elite base stealer. His contract expires after this season. With no clear everyday spot, it’s expected the Yankees will deploy him as a ‘super sub’, seeing plenty of playing time at different positions.
To create roster space, the Yankees optioned IF Ronald Torreyes and OF Tim Locastro to AAA.
Next Up: We return to New York for 3 games against the Cubs and Ex-Yankee Clint Frazier.
News:
BREAKING: Mike Trout OUT For Season With Torn MCL
The 36-29 Angels received devastating news, with Trout’s injury confirmed to be a Torn MCL that will end his amazing season early. Trout hit over 400 for most of his 53 games, and was finally coming back down to earth, down to ‘only’ 383.

Twins Split Mini-Two Gamer with Brew Crew
Minnesota won 3-0 behind a great pitching performance from Bailey Ober (5-0) on Tuesday night before dropping a tough 8-1 loss on Wednesday to the Milwaukee Brewers.
Ober went six and one-third innings allowing just two hits while walking one and recording two strikeouts. Caleb Thielbar and Joe Smith helped keep the shutout alive before Tyler Duffey shut the door for his 24th save of the year. Trevor Larnach was two for three on the night with a homer and two RBI.
Joe Ryan (3-8) made his return from St. Paul on Wednesday but it did not go as planned as he gave up five runs in five innings of work. He was touched up for five hits and three walks on the night. Gilberto Celestino and Byron Buxton contributed two hits each on the offensive side, and Gio Urshela hit his career-high 22nd homer for the Twins lone run.
The Twins will wrap up the first half of the season with a huge four-game home series with the Chicago White Sox. The Twins currently sit five and half games back of the Tigers, while the White Sox are just one and a half games out of first place in the Central Division.
Which Way To Go?
With the Twins currently sitting two game under .500 at 46-48, 5.5 games out of the division and 7 games out of the Wild Card race, which way will they go?
This Chicago series could be the ultimate determining factor if they are going to be able to compete. All of the experts keep saying the Tigers are going to fold at some point, and if that happens the White Sox are right on the doorstep to take over the division, so these four-games could determine if the Twins' front office goes shopping or selling at the deadline.
It has been no secret that the Twins need starting pitching help. Off-season acquisitions of Dylan Bundy, Chris Archer and Sonny Gray have all been a huge disappointment, as has Joe Ryan. Chris Paddack has really been slumping since an IL stint back in June. Luckily Bailey Ober and Drew Strotman have emerged as starters that can keep them in games, but they are both young and unproven.
Will the Twins go out and target starting pitching? They have some MLB-ready top prospect bats to use as trade chips should they go that route. Or will they ship the likes of Miguel Sano, Carlos Correa, Gary Sanchez and Gio Urshela for more prospects with the hopes to compete next year? We should know more come Sunday.Comment
