    YANKEES WIN THE DIVISION

    Season recap for the Yankees. Even though we won the division I haven't really felt confident about this team since the all star break. Aaron Judge won the triple crown and Juan Soto was excellent for us all season. There just has been something off about the pitching especially when it comes to the bullpen.

    DIVISIONAL ROUND

    I matched up against the Rays in the Divisional round and came out on top with 3-1 series win. The games were close. Soto hit the game winning home run in game 1 and Torres hit the game winning homerun in game 4. Overall we did not play well during the season and so far Soto and Torres have been batting under .100 even though they both came up with some huge hits. I just don't feel like this team is good enough to win it all this year but we will still compete the best we can.

    ALCS

    I matched up with the Rangers in the championship round where Cole gave the Yankees a masterful performance with 6 shutout innings and double digit strikeouts. Once again our bullpen failed us and gave up a 4-1 lead heading into the 7th. We lost the game 7-5 and it was devastating to say the least. For Cole to pitch so great and for us to come up with timely hitting to just let it all slip at the end was nothing short of embarrassing. One of our top priorities going into the offseason is to focus on improving our bullpen.

    Aaron Judge has been erasing his postseason demons and has brought his regular season success to the postseason, but for us to really have a shot we need Soto and Torres to both get back to who they really are. We might need to attack our bullpen issues from a different angle moving forward. Let's see if the Yankees can recover or if the Rangers are going to put us into a tough 2-0 deficit headed back to the stadium.

      This sucks. I cannot find a connection to my franchise or the desire to actually play it.
      I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

      I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

          After one season, I made a mistake and simmed most of the offseason thus not being able to make moves I wanted to make. Then I proceeded to quick manage thru the following season because I couldn't find an attachment to my franchise, and now that I'm at the next offseason, I have desire to go through it because I still feel extremely disconnected.

            2025 Chicago Cubs 04/04-04/06

            Overall Record: 5-4 (3rd NL central/2.5 behind Cincinnati)

            Game Results

            Game 1
            Cubs-4
            Marlins-0

            Game 2
            Cubs-7
            Marlins-6

            Game 3
            Marlins-5
            Cubs-3

            Cubs take second consecutive series

            The Cubs took two of three from the Marlins to win their second consecutive series.

            They won game 1 4-0 behind a strong performance by their starter, Justin Steele who completed the squads first complete game shutout of 2025 as he allowed just 4 hits and struck out 12.

            Game two saw Jeus Luzardo (Miami) and Jameson Taillon (Chicago) face off. Neither were particularly great and neither made it past the fifth inning. After that fifth inning, Miami had the 4-3 lead. From there, Chicago used practically their whole bullpen while Miami stuck with Sixto Sanchez and Braxton Garrett.

            The game would go into extras with Garrett on the mound for Miami despite already pitching two innings and Carl Edwards JR was brought in as the fresh arm for Chicago.

            Edwards would get the better of the Miami lineup in the top half of the 10th inning as he struck out two and got the Miami hitters out in order to keep their ghost runner from scoring.

            Garrett wasnt as lucky. In his 2.1 innings, he allowed seven hits. The last was to Bo Naylor who hit a single past the Marlins infield that was playing in with the Cubs ghost runner having reached third base earlier in the inning. The rbi single for Naylor resulted in the walk off 7-6 victory for the Cubs.

            Game three was going great for the Cubs. Jordan Wicks had a perfect game through six innings and the Cubbies led 2-0. That all came crashing down however in that seventh inning when it started with back to back homeruns by Amed Rosario and Jackson Holliday (Rosario's 1K MLB hit and Holiiday's first MLB homerun) that brought the score to a tie, 2-2.

            The Marlins added on in the eighth as they scored three to take the 5-2 lead. In the bottom half of the inning, Josh Naylor hit his second homerun of the season to bring the score to 5-3 but the Cubs couldn't complete the comeback as they fell by that same score.

            The Cubs now welcome the Reds to town (7-1/1st NL Central) who have been hot to start the 2025 campaign. The series will be four games that could lead to either the Reds maintaining their lead in the Central or the Cubs taking the lead over.

              HSK is as good as gone. He even signed up with Boras. The rumor out here in SD is Bogaerts back to SS, Cronenworth back to 2B with Arraez (if kept) at 1B/DH and looking to bring someone in to platoon. Arraez was actually improving defensively as the season progressed at first.

                Toronto Falls Off a Cliff to End the Year
                In what was a promising season, fighting for the 2nd wild card all year long, quickly became a nightmare. Vlad Jr. and Gausman went down for the season a week apart to begin September and Toronto proceeded to lose 7 straight and finish the season going 4 and 11 to finish the year and miss the playoffs by 3 games.
                The season overall was smoke and mirrors, carried by George Springers resurgence, 41 HR's and Vlad's 23 HR's in 114 games with a .389 OBP. The rest of the team was middle of the road or just plain poor. Bichette had his lowest average of his career, .249. Jose Berrios went 6-14 with a 4.53 ERA. The lone bright spot of the pitching staff was Mitch White who was electric. He went an astounding 8-2 with a team leading 2.49 ERA, with 140 strikeouts in 130 innings pitched.
                Alek Manoah continued to struggle bouncing from The Bisons and Blue Jays throughout the year, (9-6) 4.58 ERA. Better than last years horror season, but still far from his All Star season of 2022.
                Toronto goes into the offseason looking to figure out what went wrong. From the high of Ohtani is coming to town! To the lows of, never mind, no he isn't and we will struggle to make a playoff run with the team we have got, to now suddenly the golden generation is looking more bronze. The likes of Bichette, Guerrero and Biggio were supposed to be the 2nd generation icons to lead Toronto back to the promised land of the early 90's and instead they've got 3 wildcard exits and 2 missed playoff seasons to show since their arrival.
                Fans will hope the money not spent on Ohtani will be in play this offseason to make a splash and bring hope to our neighbors in The Great White North.

                MVP:

                Playoffs: Seattle Pitching Dominates In Route to First World Series
                The Seattle Mariners defeat The Atlanta Braves in 7 games. Mitch Haniger wins WS MVP with a .400 AVG and 5 HR's, 12 RBI.
                Atlanta played the entire playoffs with no Acuna or Strider. The Mariners were the 5th seed and defeated Baltimore in 3, The Yankees in 5 and Tampa Bay in 5. Atlanta was the 3 seed and beat Cincinnati in 4, The Dodgers in 6 before ultimately losing in 7 to Seattle. This is Seattle's first World Series title.
                Overall Seattle rode the wave of dominant pitching and with Haniger crushing the ball and Arozarena and Julio being the stars they are, it was just too much for Atlanta to handle without their 2 superstars. Michael Harris II will get credit for his performance this playoff season as he hit .415 with 7 HR's and 13 RBI.

                  Makes total sense. You felt like you were losing and wasn't even the team you built. I probably would've lost the passion as well.

                    YANKEES WIN GAME 2 AND TIE THE SERIES 1-1

                    With a big victory in game 2 of the ALCS the Yankees defeated the Rangers 8-3. The bats finally came alive in the tune of Soto (2-4 with 2 homeruns) and Judge (4-6 with 1 homerun). Nestor Cortes gave us a great performance going 7 innings of 4 hit ball with 7 strikeouts. Like usual the bullpen got a little sloopy in the end so I am still a little nervous about that going into game 3. I thinking of making a lineup change as Gleyber has been struggling at the leadoff spot. Switching hime for Jazz may be the move. Also our midseason acquisition Bryan De La Cruz has been our best player in the playoffs so for hitting .375 with 3 homeruns and 5 RBI's

                    This is the pivotal game of the series. The winner of game 3 has a great chance of getting to the World Series. We are headed back to Yankee stadium where we hope that the crowd is loud and the momentum of being home will help carry us to a victory. Stroman is on the mound and he was not looking good in his last outing. He went 5 innings with 3 walks and a 7.20 ERA. There will be a short leash on him if Boone see's any struggles. Let's keep the momentum going a try and win this huge playoff game against the defending champs.

                      Reds take early season 4 game series in Chicago

                      The Cincinnati Reds not only maintained but extended their NL Central lead early in the 2025 season as they won 3 of 4 in Chicago.

                      The Cubs offense sputtered in the series as after game one, they scored a total of three runs in the remaining three. They did get their one win of the series in game two behind the teams second complete game shutout. This one was by Shota Imanaga who pitched the full game as he allowed just two hits and struck out seven.

                      The Reds returned the favor in game three as Hunter Greene was dominate despite not being involved in the decision. Jonathan India hit a 9th inning homerun off of the Cubs releiver, Keegan Thompson to score the games only run.

                      The Cubs had a 2-1 lead in game four but that wouldnt hold up and Alexis Diaz eventually got his second consecutive save and his fifth on the year.

                      The Cubs will now hit the road for their first multi series road trip. First they head to to Minnesota to take on the Twins (10-3/1st AL Central).

                        Free Agency Shakes Up The MLB

                        Here is just someof the highlights from a chaotic free agency winter.
                        Adames-->Dodgers 5/55mil
                        Teoscar-->Blue Jays 3/16mil

                        Pete Alonso--> Mets 5/170mil
                        Anthony Satander-->Cubs 2/10.6mil

                        Paul Goldschmidt--> Yankees 2/10
                        Walker Buehler--> Nationals 5/63.5mil
                        Alex Bregman--> Diamondbacks 5/72.5mil
                        Toronto's Busy Offseason continues to Reshape The Pen
                        Toronto struggled last season to finish games when the starters left the game, so revamping the bullpen was priority number 1. Thats just what they did. Andrew Kittredge (2/6.2), Jeff Hoffman (3/24) and Julio Teheran who they hope to use in spot starts and as a long reliever (1/4). Toronto wasn't done yet however as they signed Nick Madrigal to helo the infield and reunited with Teoscar Hernandez who had a resurgence last season in Los Angeles. He will be welcomed back to Canada where he spent the majority of his career prior to leaving 2 seasons ago.
                        Toronto send Bichette to Atlanta
                        Toronto:SS. Bo Bichette
                        Atlanta: SP. Smith-Shawver (prospect 2), C. Drake Baldwin( Prospect 5) SS Orlando Arcia
                        Atlanta has the bat they were searching for to help at short stop and Toronto gets another promising pitcher to add to the depleted rotation. Atlanta will welcome the 2 time All Star to Atlanta. He is a contact 1st hitter. WIth Acuna's power right behind him in the lineup, Atlanta will look for Bichette to set the table and get on base so Ronald can collect the RBI's. In a contract year its a good guess that Bichette will turn it around. In return Toronto receive Arcia who is a year removed from an All STar season in 2023, but struggled at the plate this past season going .215/.267/.322. The real prize is catcher Drake Baldwin who is the 5th top prospect in Atlanta's talent pool and becomes Torontos number 2 behind only the newest pitcher AJ Smith-Shawver who looks to plug imemdiately into the starting roation. Atlanta let him pitch 30 innings last season to the tune of a 3.21 ERA.
                        Vlad Guerrero a Blue Jay for Life
                        Toronto have announced a deal has been reached with Toronto native Vlad Guerrero Jr. He was in the final year of his deal, but instead will spend the next 10 years in Toronto at a total of 310 million.

                          YANKEES WIN A HUGE GAME 3 AND TAKE A 2-1 SERIES LEAD IN THE ALCS

                          Game Results:

                          Game 3
                          Yankees - 6
                          Rangers - 2

                          It was the 1st pivotal game of the ALCS and the Yankees did what they had to do to come out on top. The pitching matchup consisted of Marcus Stroman vs Jon Gray.

                          We were able to get to Gray early, scoring 4 runs in the 1st inning. Juan Soto had a huge 2 run homerun, followed by an RBI single by both Judge and De La Cruz. Gray ended up going 4.1 innings, giving up 7 hits and 5 earned runs with 5 strikeouts. Stroman (3.0 innings, 1 hit, 2 earned runs, 4 strikeouts) started the game off strong and looked like he was going give us a top notch outing and that he did until the 4th inning where he gave up a 2 run double to Josh Jung. With it now being 4-2 game manager Aaron Boone had to make the biggest decision of the game. Does he trust in Stroman to recover and get back on track or go with our lackluster bullpen that's been on display the past month?

                          Boone decided to go with Luis Gil who was a starter for us most of the season. Gil came in a gave us 4 innings, 3 hits, no earned runs with 5 strikeouts. This is the exact relief that the Yankees needed. Victor Gonzalez and Kahnle both came in and produced shutout innings as well. We tacked on two more runs before the game was done. Overall it was a great showing for our bullpen and we are looking for that to continue.

                          Juan Soto was the player of the game going 2-3 with 2 homeruns, 3 runs, a walk and 2 RBIs. De La Cruz has kept his momentum going as the best player in the playoffs gong 2-3 with 3 RBIs. Aaron Judge has been a steady force and kept his consistent play going with a 2-4, 1 run and 1 RBI game.

                          We are now getting ready for a big game 4 at the stadium where the Rangers will be putting all their chips on the table not wanting to go down 3-1. We have Carlos Rodon on the mound and he will be looking to mimic his previous outing where he picked up the game 4 win against the Rays.

                            In a desperate attempt to find a spark/connection to my franchise after my debacle, I did something extreme. I quick managed the 2028 season as well (quick managed the 2027 season) in an attempt to get to a point where everything was "new". Meaning that the majority of the free agent class would've been a class that I didn't get to in '23.

                            I don't know if this will change anything, but I need to find something or just shelve '24 until '25 releases, which I don't want to do. But if I did I guess I could check out Madden or NBA 2K.

                            We'll see how this goes.

                            I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

                            I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

                              Maybe start a new franchise with the latest rosters, QM until the off season and go from there. A post "Mo" franchise, if you will.

                                I've considered that as well as I miss having traditional DH rules.
