Rangers Repeat!!
The Texas Rangers are your 2024 World Series Champions and become the first team to repeat since the 2000 Yankees.
The Chicago Cubs gave it their all and had a great season but fell just short in game seven versus the Texas Rangers.
If he had been able to pull it off, Shota Imanaga could have been the first pitcher since Stephen Strasberg in 2019 to win the world series MVP. Unfortunately, for the Cubs he wasn't able to do that.
For the Cubs in the world series, two of their biggest foes of the world series came through again.
Josh Jung and Corey Seager gave the Cubs fits throughout the series and game seven was no different.
Jung homered twice in game six that made game seven happen. He homered again in game seven off of Imanaga in the 2nd inning to at the time gave the Rangers the 1-0 lead. The homer was his sixth of the postseason and fourth of the fall classic.
Seager came through in the eighth inning as his sacrifice fly scored Ezequel Duran who was the first to single as part of the first two batters of the inning singling. That led to the Rangers 3-2 lead that would hold up for the remainder as Jose Leclerc got the Cubs three up three down in the ninth to close it out and give the Rangers their second consecutive World Series Championship.
The Cubs two runs both came in the bottom of the second on Josh Naylor's third homerun of the season. At the time, the Cubs took the 2-1 lead but were unable to hold on to that.
The Cubs will have plenty to work on in the offseason as most of their roster will need to be resigned if they dont want them to test free agency. Obviously with such a great season, they could settle with bringing the same squad into 25' but we will see. Until then, thanks for tuning in!
