2024 Chicago Cubs World Series Game 7

    Game Result
    Rangers-3
    Cubs-2

    Rangers Repeat!!

The Texas Rangers are your 2024 World Series Champions and become the first team to repeat since the 2000 Yankees.

The Chicago Cubs gave it their all and had a great season but fell just short in game seven versus the Texas Rangers.

If he had been able to pull it off, Shota Imanaga could have been the first pitcher since Stephen Strasberg in 2019 to win the world series MVP. Unfortunately, for the Cubs he wasn't able to do that.

For the Cubs in the world series, two of their biggest foes of the world series came through again.

Josh Jung and Corey Seager gave the Cubs fits throughout the series and game seven was no different.

Jung homered twice in game six that made game seven happen. He homered again in game seven off of Imanaga in the 2nd inning to at the time gave the Rangers the 1-0 lead. The homer was his sixth of the postseason and fourth of the fall classic.

Seager came through in the eighth inning as his sacrifice fly scored Ezequel Duran who was the first to single as part of the first two batters of the inning singling. That led to the Rangers 3-2 lead that would hold up for the remainder as Jose Leclerc got the Cubs three up three down in the ninth to close it out and give the Rangers their second consecutive World Series Championship.

The Cubs two runs both came in the bottom of the second on Josh Naylor's third homerun of the season. At the time, the Cubs took the 2-1 lead but were unable to hold on to that.

The Cubs will have plenty to work on in the offseason as most of their roster will need to be resigned if they dont want them to test free agency. Obviously with such a great season, they could settle with bringing the same squad into 25' but we will see. Until then, thanks for tuning in!

I haven't played in awhile but the Mets current run has me itching to play again. So I downloaded current roster and started new franchise. Iglesias on the Mets has a couple ratings over 100, I believe contact and clutch are like 113 and 125. Is this a glitch? Isn't highest rating 99 or 100 in any given category?

Weird once I started my first game his ratings that were over 100 went to 99 on its own. Guess it fixed itself sort of.

I mean, it's not baseball, but hilariously, a real life GM missed this in the NHL once...Dale Tallon, then GM of the Blackhawks, must have been asleep at the wheel, and missed filing qualifying offers to 7 (!!!) of his players, causing absolute chaos, including a grievance filed by the NHLPA.

So, while I know it sucks to have potentially effed up your franchise, just know that you aren't the first person in the world to accidentally sim ahead!

I hope you stick with this franchise Countryboy! I (always) enjoy following along, and this could be just the hurdle that is needed to regroup and get you back to the world series!

Countryboy's predicament reminds me of the Red Sox back in the day messing up with Carlton Fisk and allowing him to go to the White Sox and the Mets messing around and letting Tom Seaver to go to the White Sox too.

It does but hey, its part of it. Id rather the first year come down to a game 7 as opposed to a sweep anyway.

                  2025 Chicago Cubs 03/27-03/30

Overall Record: 1-2 (5th NL Central)

                  Game 3

Bad weather and long balls contribute to Cubs poor 2025 debut

It rained in the first and third games of the Cubs' opening home series of 2025. That impacted attendance and the fans that came weren't subjected to anything good. In the two losses, the Cubs gave up a total of nine homeruns (4 in game 1 and 5 in game 3). That amount of long balls is obviously hard to overcome and the Phillies ended up taking both games and the series, 2-1.

Shota Imanaga, fresh off of his NL rookie of the year campaign was named the opening day starter for the Cubs and his 2025 debut wasnt good. He did pitch seven full innings, struck out 10 and walked none. However, he also gave up 9 hits and seven runs.

Three of those runs came off of deep balls by the Phillies' leadoff hitter, Trea Turner who homered in his first two at bats of 2025. The first came in the first inning on Shota's second pitch of the season. The second came in the third inning and that one was a two run shot. JT. Realmuto also homered twice as he went 3-3 on the night.

The Cubs won game two as recent free agent signing closing pitcher, Tanner Scott collected his first save as a Cub. He did give up a homerun to Rodolfo Castro on his first pitch of the new season but was able to settle down after that.

Game three was again all Philadelphia and their power stroke as they hit five balls over the fence enroute to the 7-3 victory.

The Cubs will now leave Wrigley to head to New York to face the Mets (1-2).

** posting all about the off season is a lot. I resigned almost everyone from 2024 but also made too big splashes in free agency. i signed the aforementioned Tanner Scott and Juan Soto. Soto went 3-12 in his opening series as a Cub.

Curious, any one using a current Padres roster, how are you handling Arraez and Cronenworth?
Also, anyone not using San Diego, I would still be interested in hearing how you would handle the two.

Scratch that, I see Cronenworth is the 2B and Arraez is the 1B. And Bogaerts has moved to SS to make way for Cronenworth at 2B. So I instead, I think its more apropos to as how you are handling Bogaerts and Ha Seong Kim. Are you letting Kim head to free agency?

Yesterday I finished quick managing the 2027 season. It wasn't ideal, but I tried playing 15 games and there was no connection and all I could think about was how much I wanted the season to end so that I could go thru a proper offseason and build the team that I wanted, or as close as possible given player availability and such.

I simply wasn't having fun, nor did I care what happened. But quick managing helped put a little spark back in as I made trades at the deadline for young prospects and started thinking about my vision for the club in 2028.

So moving forward with this and excited to find a re-connection to my franchise.

2027 Wrap-Up - Cardinals miss postseason for first time in 3 years

The Cardinals finished the 2027 season with a 77-85 record and finished dead last in the NL Central. This was the first time the Cards have missed the postseason since the 2023 season.

There really was nothing positive about the season. Injuries hurt, lack of depth hurt, and just a complete unbalance and disconnect on this team prevented anything special from happening. About the only good thing were the deadline trades the Cards made to acquire some young talent in hopes of re-building their organizational depth as they look to bounce back in 2028.

The Cardinals will head into the offseason not looking to re-build but re-load the team with players that will not only get them back into the postseason, but also back to the World Series where the Cardinals were in 2025 and were 3 outs away from winning their 12th World Series Championship.

Speaking of the World Series, congratulations to the Phillies on defeating the Rangers in 7 games to win the World Series Championship.

                          2027 season wrap up below:

                            2025 Chicago Cubs 04/01-04/03

Overall Record: 3-3 (4th NL Central/2.5 behind Cincinnati Reds)

                            Game Results:

                            Game 1
                            Cubs-10
                            Mets-3

                            Game 2
                            Cubs-7
                            Mets-5

                            Game 3
                            Mets-4
                            Cubs-2

Cubs win first series of 2025

It wasn't the Mets home opening series but the Cubs did get the series win on the road. The Cubs won game one behind homeruns by Josh Naylor, Patrick Wisdom and Dansby Swanson (** I went to save this game early on while down...instead of hitting save and exit, I hit simulate and exit and couldn't stop it in time.)

Javier Assad made his season debut in game two and wouldn't you know it, another rain delay stunted his start in regards to innings pitched. He pitched well however in his limited time, 4.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 5 SO. His two runs came via a two run HR by Francisco Alvarez in the fifth inning after that, Daniel Palencia came in and also allowed two runs also by a homerun, Pete Alonso's 5th on the season.

Before all of that, the Cubs scored four in the fourth inning one of which came off of Patrick Wisdom's second homerun in as many games.

Both Wisdom and Alonso would hit another in the game as the Cubs ended up winning it, 7-5 to take the 2-0 series lead

Game three was won in extra innings by the Mets as they avoided the series sweep. Wouldn't you know it, the walk off came off of a homerun by Luisangel Acuna in the 10th inning. The homer was his first hit of 2025 in seven at bats.

The homers have definitely been an issue for the Cubs who through six games rank 29th in the league with 17 given up just behind the Dodgers who have 19. Consequently, the Dodgers also off to a slow start (4-5).

The Cubs will now have a day off before they return home to face the Marlins (1-5/5th NL East)

I am entering my third season with Cleveland and noticed that it seems like offseason contract extensions for young players is insanely broken.

I will spare you the known issues about trade logic, but I was getting rid of some spare part players and offered them up - Yankees offered Jasson Dominguez. Naturally, I was intrigued so I agreed and went to sign/renew his contract. I was able to sign him for something like 9 years at $9 million total (give or take). Not sure if this was the case early in the year or something that happened with a recent patch.

I know where this is at a Sim level... not looking for input on that. I am curious if something happened with a patch that screwed up Franchise mode though.

As far as I know, nothing happened with the patch, its just faulty CPU roster logic. I usually handle it by employing my own "house rules" that seem to mirror what would make sense in real life. And also use 30 team control to make sure the CPU teams are doing anything too stupid.
