Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
I don't think the problem is that there is a lot of dropped third strikes. There are actually quite a few IRL. The problem is that the catcher NEVER just tags him right away like how it happens about 95% of the time in a real game.Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
Is it "dropped' third strikes or are you swinging at balls in the dirt? I've played about a dozen and I'v never seen a "dropped" third strike....I have struck out many times by swinging at a ball in the dirt....Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
for the second time in my franchise, I've seen the cpu release a player and then sign a free agent.
I didn't think this was in the game, but I'm definitely not complaining. LOLI can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
Hey brotha, I respect your opinion but I'd like to see you wait a bit before you say they are the same. Spend more time with it.
I did not like the demo and said as much and didn't necessarily feel the game was that different.
But, after playing 20plus full games I can say that it feels different in enough places to make it a great game. I feel its a full version better and not just 10.5
To begin with, the fielding has obviously been revamped and you can really tell the difference in every way. The various speeds of outfielders, the various angles they take when playing even routine balls, the various ways they play balls in the gaps, the various ways they play balls off the wall. I'm purposely using the word "various" a lot because no 2 fielders feel the same.
Play with an average outfield for 2 or 3 FULL games and then play with the Red Sox and be enlightened as to what "running down balls in the gap" really means. Conversely, after using a great outfield that gets to everything, try a poor one and feel the utter frustration.
So far, I've only touched on how outfielders play the ball, get to the ball, and what angles they take when doing so. I haven't even mentioned the various arm strengths and am accuracy issues. And, don't get me started explaining the differences between a good fielding 3rd baseman and a poor one.
If you play a lot of games with teams of various abilities and strengths and still feel its the same game, then... cool.
Originally posted by bxgoodsI rented the game, and I popped it in, played a couple games and it feels too much for the old show for me...
The Analog controls are great and I like the new player model and faces.
But the presentation and commentary make the game feel stale to me, and I can't force myself to keep my attention in it like before because I've heard the same commentary lines and seen the same cut scenes 10000000 times in the Show 09 and 10.
If you've bought The Show 09 and 10, I would rent 11.Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
Its a little thing but I'm bothered by it because the game is very realistic and strategic in so many ways.
When I'm up to bat, no matter who the batter, it always appears that the defense never moves (save for the 3rd baseman animation where he comes in for a bunt). The center fielder is always in the same place.
Have any of you seen the defense shift on a regular basis?Comment

Nope.
I also noticed that the Defensive Positioning graphic in the pause screen is static and doesnt change to reflect the defenses current alignment.
Also, for anyone who doesn't see the changes in the Fielding, try this nice 3 step process.
1. Put Marcus Thames in center field for LA.
2. Play The Yankees
3. EnjoyLast edited by econoodle; 03-14-2011, 08:19 PM.Comment

Not sure how anyone can say it's the same as previous versions. But to each their own.Comment

Perhaps think once people play more these complaints will begin to die down.
I personally agree with you, though. The game is vastly improved this year and I'm still loving it.Comment
