Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way .... but yall ever get bored by the players you made? Even the ones that almost have or have all the badges?

Not that it happens in *this* thread, but typically at the beginning of the year people say "You're just a kid you're impatient you want things so fast blah blah" but damn man. I've put a lot of time in this game this year. Have 4 different players. We know it's not going to happen ... but I REALLY wish the career stuff was more like FIFA, so we could change positions/styles if we want to. People get rewarded with leveling up and all that from just playing the game. Meanwhile we get to level up slowly...with ONE character.

Feels like the life for this game may be shorter than in years past, and I've usually play the game deep into the next cycle. It just kind of sucks when I get bored using a player but I have to stick with it because other people have nothing else to bring even though they have a 94 or 95 rated player.

Just don't like the "one player only" kind of crap. You could make multiple characters and progress it slowly...but that takes a lot of VC and time. And in this game, you don't really feel your player's archetype strengths UNTIL you get badges. I'm not here trying to be on an E-Sports team. I just want to have fun.

Absolutely. I only use my pure slasher these days to grind a bit of VC. He's 92 ovr, and watching the meter go up 1% after 12 min qtrs on HoF after I've put up an 80pt triple double is just not worth it. All of his badges are maxed out already and I'm getting nowhere near 99, so it becomes a demotivating factor.

Exactly! My shot creating slasher is a 92. By far my favorite player to use. Only 9000 XP from getting gold glue hands and that's it. Now I don't really have an incentive to grind (I guess I could go for that +1 in ball handling so I hit an 86, but the hell of a difference will that really make? Hundreds of hours just for that!?!?)

I just wish that because of all the time and hours I put into this guy, I could make another guy that's already pretty far along. But nah...you have to start over from SCRATCH. I absolutely hate that. I already got gold mid-range dead eye on one player and I'd have to get it again?

The cost of VC is a totally different issue and most of yall know where I stand on that. But this whole "You only grind one player" game design was bad in hindsight. I know they want our money ... but I also feel like they've totally taken the fun away. It's not like we have to pay VC for badges!

I'm glad we got progress bars and a badge counter, it's great we have that now. But this new system takes it all a step backwards in my opinion.

The whole mycareer mode got boring real fast . The grind is so real that every time I think about starting a new player I’m instantly turned away. Then I have my 93 SF with all badges maxed but I’m never hitting 99 so it feels pointless to grind him lol.

I always thought an auction house would be a good idea. We can put the players we no longer want up for auction, with a minimum price/sell now type of deal, and anyone can then come and buy them. I know 2k would never do this because of VC sales, but it would be a good way to give the community some freedom.

My maxed badge 92 OVR slasher would probably be worth 4-500kvc in the open market when you take grind into consideration. It would just need another t-shirt kiosk type structure set up in the neighbourhood and it'd be good to go.

Absolutely it is ridiculous to be locked into one character with one physical build and it is insanely frustrating because it limits my enjoyment of the game. Most people playing this mode don't want to touch mycareer but they make the terrible choice of having them linked. Unfortunately they make too much money from giving us these bad choices. My playtime on 2K has decreased dramatically from last year because of issues like this. It is not made with the player's enjoyment as the primary focus

I don't agree at all with 2K's decision to drop the defensive ratings of every dual archetype defender build that's not a slasher.

Slashing defenders get 91 defensive ratings, but every other archetype mix gets mid-80s defensive ratings.

I don't see any justifiable reason why a slashing defender should be so much better at defense compared to a playmaking defender or shot creating defender. The offensive abilities should be the only thing separating those builds, ratings wise.

i dont have problems to pull up or create space what i try to say is the is most easy to pass the defender and attack the paint than a have a pull up and go in, i have 91 mid range hof dif shots and yes i can create my own shot a pull but THE AI GIVES YOU THE FREE PAINT so why shuold i force a pull up, this is why i think the whole creating a shot for offline is a waste of time .

and it has to be a syndrome because i have a 90 close to 91 sc pmaker with all badges up and the desire to play was goes off in one day to another

And i was thinking ok i cant make a pg curry with 99 thres 95 finishing and 95 ball control or kyrie with 95 mid 85 thres 99 ball control and the elite badges that have them or even cp3 with hof playmaking 90 mid 85 threes por harden with the versatility that they have but i have todo guard them. So i wanna make ir though to the CPU and make 6'7 pure playmaker like magic. It will be tough todo any pg attack me in the paint por even shoot with my wingspan un they face. On offense be a missmatch. Speedboost. Hace 99 pass ability. I think its a great choise

Two-way slasher/slashing defender/pure lockdown defender are all great builds if you are on a team that understands how to play offense without being in 5-out or 4-out. I was in a game last week where a two-way slasher scored 60 points. And my pure lockdown defender has had several 30 assist games running PG this month.

Some of the best archetype mixes in this game don't have any sharpshooter in them, but because people are too close-minded/hive-minded and too deadset on playing 5-out/4-out, they won't ever get to see how good some of those non-sharp builds are.

My experiences this year have lead me to believe that the shot creator PGs and slasher PGs do get high enough dunk tendency ratings to consistently trigger dunk animations.

But other PG archetypes like playmaker and sharpshooter rarely dunk due to low dunk tendencies. If I'm playing against either of those two builds, I just bait them into driving, knowing that they probably won't be able to trigger a dunk animation, and that their driving layup rating is so poor they'll probably miss if I can get a good shot contest on their layup attempt.
Here is the thing. A slasher defender does match great. The attributes prove it. A slashing def can recover quicker with speed and catch up with someone better than the odd match of a sharpshooter defender. Honestly it is not by much though. Sure you get a few more in blocks and steals. There lateral quickness at the same size will be the same though. A sharpshooter defender is still very good defensively.

This game is about badges, defensive communication and spacing the floor. If I don't have ball in my hands as wing do i really want to defense sinking in the paint because I can't shoot the three. Not only can the archetype defend, but if offers the threat of the three. There is reason whyyou want them on your team in the NBA.

The badges on this build are numerous (I think most in the game or close) and effective. Not only are you catch and shooting at silver, but if they do commit to hugging my player I can go by them and still have silver posterizer to dunk on dudes late closing in the paint. Defensive badges on the sf are great. Pick pocket gold and rim protector on silver. So many boxes checked for one archetype.

Pure lockdowns don't sound appealing to me. The curve to be good offensively is too crazy. Can be done obviously. You can hit an open three with slasher sure, but every game is a reset. If I see a slasher I am sinking in the paint at the beginning of every game. Just saying the sharpshooter defender seems like a great build and mixes just fine. Long winded, sorry.

Defending as secondary never makes sense. You get the most important badge (defensive stopper) only on silver which means you wont even be effective against all the badges your opponents have on their secondary archetype. As primary you have it on gold which means you nullify most of their secondary archetype badges while yours maintains bronze. You can be a good defender without the defender archetype, if you also want to gain an advantage "technically" make it at least primary or go lock down.

Thats from what ive read so far, if anyone has more insight please share...
