I don’t know what’s going on with this game but I played several games where the on ball D was classic 2K22 magnetized sticky. Then this last game I’m playing, it’s closer to 2K21 where I’m just turbo spamming around everyone to get easy buckets at the hole.

And I’m seeing ZERO help D. Zero. If I beat someone, I beat them and get an open path.

Maybe at best players are on a major help D delay where they seem like they register the fact that they should help, but either get lazy and don’t, or simply run away from the ball, handing me an open path.

It's just so unreliable and inconsistent, even using L2 more as the ball handler and laying off of turbo almost completely to give the defense a chance to react, still most of the time help is not coming, except from 1 away strong side.

Then randomly I'll get this, great rotation on a pick and pop.

Had to share this by cpu 76ers. The cpu helped for me automatically with Gobert. Edited roster and sliders with both teams help d at 100. I’m seeing great help on both sides on Xbox next gen. Posted some foul videos too as I’m getting a ton and a lot of variety in 2 videos below this 1 on Twitter. Loving where the game is personally…

Also, if you notice when I went to help originally on embiid in the post my cpu teammates went to help on curry if he kicked out but I recovered in time so they stunted and got back to their man.

Had to share this by cpu 76ers. The cpu helped for me automatically with Gobert. Edited roster and sliders with both teams help d at 100. I’m seeing great help on both sides on Xbox next gen. Both teams help D at 100, you're referring to coaching sliders correct?
Also Vann, where do you have defensive awareness? And since the last few updates, have you seen any difference in players rated with say a 50 Help D rating as opposed to a 90 Help D rating?

Any defensive settings adjustments? I've pretty much been setting eveyone to Gap off ball, force Baseline, Help and No Rotation on both PnR and Drive, and Pre Rotate On.

The game is designed around not what is realistic, or even what is fun, but what will best avoid abuse aka cheesing during online play.

Yes both teams 100 in game help d in coaching adjustments. I am pretty sure this works again because 1 game I forgot to set it and didn’t see help. I clicked on it and changed to 100 and help was there again.

D awareness 55 both sides. And I globally tweaked help d iq a long time ago so not sure if that was fixed but it’s in the roster I’m using so there’s that too. It didn’t help at all before when I tested everyone at 99. But they might have fixed that as well.

But all that could mean nothing but was just letting everyone know the settings where I was getting the help in the videos. Could have just been the patch though as well? Or they fixed it all to how it used to work? All I know is I’m getting great help d now every game. Trying to capture different videos here and there for proof of it. So maybe worth a shot if on Xbox next gen to test out for sure…

If it’s not too much to ask can you record similar plays with coach help slider at stock 50 (or whatever it is) and at 100? Curious to know if the slider not working is really resolved.

Really saw some good things in a game this morning and then halfway through I see the dreaded “update at menu” graphic 2K still plasters across my TV the entire time. Ugh.

But this morning (before that update) I ran a pick and pop and both defenders focused on the drive leaving Olynyk wide open. I have personally felt the pick and pop was largely dead this year with under warping defenders and them never leaving the popper. So this surprised me in a good way. The help defender did rotate over and then ran away for some reason but at least I can see some different things.

Then I get beat off the drive/screen and my cpu teammate rotated over nicely!

This is what I was referring to as pure comedy in this thread……. Literally 3 posts apart, one guy says this game is awful for him and another guy (who I tend to trust a lot more) says he loves where the game is right now for him……..maybe it’s just some decide to only focus on the bad and others are more optimistic but I can’t think of a game that had people so split in what their experiences have been……. I personally have had some of the best games to date over the weekend, obviously still some head scratching stuff but the defense isn’t completely bonkers for me right now

Freedom of movement is one of my things when it comes to basketball games, 2K17 had a very short life for me because of how defenders were glued to ball handlers...

I'm just not seeing that in 2K22, especially now. It's not literally holding turbo and a direction like 2K21, but I just don't find it all that difficult to attack or exploit mismatches.

I think part is different systems (not sure What Air is on though?). I think masses on Xbox next gen are seeing it but it’s another reason I’m trying to now capture videos of things as proof lol. But for me it could be more so because of rosters, sliders, help d slider, etc. so not really comparing apples to apples.

Like, I’ve seen guys say not seeing any fouls but I’m getting 30 per game. That is sliders and gameplay style mixed in. Hard to have fouls if no contact in paint or on drives as well as contest on layups and jump shots too low. Add to that upping all the foul sliders as well. But if people are playing out of box sliders I can most definitely see why they wouldn’t get them. It’s hard to make blanket statements when there are so many factors at play.

When an update would come with the help I’d test on stock sliders and adjusted ones. Then I’d go put help d slider up to 100 after that. That’s when I knew there were issues because it still didn’t work on anything. I can only go off what I see. It’s good right now all I know. But I did just see another update this morning?! I’m scared to go try haha

By the way I also had amazing games and experiences over the weekend!

I’m big on freedom of movement as well! Are you saying it’s too easy and you don’t like it? Or you like the balance because small ball is there but so is help? I might have missed the context as I haven’t kept up last few pages…
