Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
It’s been posted all off-season long that the Lakers basically had no intensions of trading the number 17 pick unless it was to move back in the draft, or keeping Beasley and Bamba. Plan was to run everything else back and either S&T DLo, or sign him to a short deal (1+1) at a lower cost that both benefits LAL and DLo who’s stock is down after a poor showing in the finals..
Now “reports” claiming they are going to explore options for Beasley and Bamba, and the number 17 pick. Either this is Jeanie finally realizing it’s worth it to eat one big year of tax when Beasley + Bamba can return you 30m in a trade, or maybe not a coincidence that their combined number (around 26m) and the number Washington would have to guarantee for Chris Paul (around 25m) just so happen to match perfectly.
Idk if CP3 is on the radar at all or if that’s a timing and money coincidence. There isn’t much chatter on LAL landing CP3 just some interest if waived. Should they pursue him their one up on other teams might be their willingness to be the only team that would include a first round pick.
This all could possibly be them thinking they’ll get CP3 on a min deal (waived/buyout from Wash) and they realize getting a starter for Beasley+Bamba just makes more sense with another win-now, injury prone, old former star.
Regardless, if they are really considering matching any offers for Rui and Reaves, retaining Beasley and Bamba to shop now or later, contemplating trading the pick, AND either singing or S&T DLo.. then it would seem Jeanie is finally willing to eat whatever tax hits them this season to give this a real shot. Obliviously they’ve been pushing for contender every one of these years, but they’ve had one foot out the whole time with their spending.Comment

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
If I'm the lakers and trading Beasley and Bamba for something on the Wizards its KP not Chris Paul. Since I think the contracts for them aren't guaranteed then the 17th pick might be enough for them to take that trade. I could see him and AD working together and his contract and injury history shouldn't have a huge trade value.

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
Yeah, that move isn't likely happening. It would make no sense to trade for the 3rd pick if you are Miami.
They have two younger pieces in Bam & Herro, but everyone else on the team (minus Yurtseven & Jovic, who don't play) are veterans that don't have time to waste.
Maybe they can pry KAT from Minnesota or Porzingis from Washington, but Adebayo was just in the Finals. [emoji38]

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
Sick and tired of this same tired annual dance between Dame and Portland. Either stay put or ask for a trade. All the posturing from both sides. Shut the **** up already.

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
Everyone wrote him off already saying he's not picking up his option and he's for sure gone.
I wonder if this changes how they approach anything.
Van Vleet going, hopefully they re-sign Poeltl, and then make the tough decision of moving OG or Siakam for the 3rd pick and get Scoot.
Simons was a rumored name from Portland, but if Trent stays, I doubt they'll go after Simons since the whole point of the deal would be to get Scoot who will be at PG.Last edited by Majingir; 06-20-2023, 12:40 PM.Comment

I put this on NBATwitter and NBA Media. It’s really the only subject out they can push out content on and they’re gonna milk that well dry until it runs out.#RespectTheCultureComment

Man done said he wants to stay like 100 times in the last year and even backed up his words with actions(signing extension after extension), lol.

From a basketball side of things Portland should have already moved him. They obviously don't want to look like the organization who dumps their loyal star though. Seems like they have an easy out here, moving him now and drafting Scoot.
Portland claims they are making big offers for his buddy Bam, those go nowhere, realistic options don't interest them, they draft with the 3rd pick, and Dame has already stated he's not with the youth movement. He finally asks out.. Seems to be what Portland wants.Comment
