Van Vleet going, hopefully they re-sign Poeltl, and then make the tough decision of moving OG or Siakam for the 3rd pick and get Scoot.

Simons was a rumored name from Portland, but if Trent stays, I doubt they'll go after Simons since the whole point of the deal would be to get Scoot who will be at PG.

Could also mean a team that wants him but won't have cap space will trade for him. In other words, the Lakers, Klutch client, been one of their trade targets for the past 3 years now, and Lakers "rumors" saying they will look to use Beasley/Bamba contracts in a trade.

Could be looking way too much into that but a few weeks ago when the "internet rumors" stated the Lakers had interest in FVV and/or Trent Jr, the only path they had to either guy was if they first picked up their player option.

Dame has always maintained that he wants to stay but the outside world is like "we don't believe you"

He's a rare breed. Not just for wanting to stay in one spot, but that spot is Portland of all places. Nothing against Portland, I'd move there. But thats because I'm an IT guy and not a basketball superstar.

        Re: 2023 Offseason Thread

Just wanted to see this for myself and thought I'd share. Here are the last five NBA champions two best players followed by the top two picks in the last 10 drafts...

        2023- 41st Jokic ('14)/7th Murray ('16)
        2022- 7th Curry ('09)/11th Thompson ('11)
        2021- 15th Giannis ('13)/39th Middleton ('12)
        2020- 1st LeBron ('03)/1st AD ('12)
        2019- 15th Kawhi ('11)/27th Siakam ('16)

        -----

        2022- Banchero/Holmgren (HOU)
        2021- Cunningham/Green (MIN)
        2020- Edwards/Wiseman (GS)
        2019- Zion/Morant (NYK)
        2018- Ayton/Bagley (PHX)
        2017- Fultz/Ball (BKN)
        2016- Simmons/Ingram (PHI)
        2015- KAT/DLo (MIN)
        2014- Wiggins/Parker (MIL)
        2013- Bennett/Oladipo (ORL)

Make of that what you will. But til this day I do not understand any GM or fan justifying tanking. The results have been straight booty lol

        EDIT

Then to take it even further, it doesn't even guarantee you the top pick anyway (I added the team with the worst record every year)

Simply put, the ROI on tanking is awful. Just get better. Better at talent evaluation. Better at coaching. Better at player development. Better at team management. Better at building chemistry and cohesion. All those things appear to have a much bigger impact and should be the primary focus over simply tanking.

Whether by luck or skill championship teams are able to get all star level talent outside of the top 10. Then they are able to develop them because since they weren't drafted with the weight of the franchise on them they aren't under a microscope.

KP was really good for Washington last year i don't think many realize and upgrade from Brogdon is big but i don't like KP is the issue.

                  Re: 2023 Offseason Thread

I like the move for all sides.

Brogdon to the Clippers is huge. They've needed some sort of ball handling/play-making and while Brogdon is more of a combo guard it's a step closer than having to rely on Powell, Gordon, PG, Kawhi to be those guys.

I don't agree that he wasn't good for Boston. Had a rough playoffs, but I think for most of the year was as good as Smart. Definitely deserved 6th man of the year. Flirted with the 50/40/90 club, and outpaced Smart in most stats per 36. Even though he didn't play that great in the post-season Boston was still 2 points better in minutes with him on the floor than with Smart, and only 1 point better with Smart in the regular season.

I think he's a big addition to LAC. Having Morris hasn't made sense for them ever since they PG+Kawhi thing happened. Especially once they saw Batum still had value, and especially again after adding Covington.

No clue what this means for Boston and how they approach having Rob Williams, Grant Williams, and Horford. But I do like the addition of Porzingis. I think with Williams/Horford there will be no pressure for him to ever have to try to be a center. But rather just another big who can stretch the floor and protect the rim. No more of Williams getting caught high on a screen/switch and having zero rim protection behind him.

Only issue with Porzingis for me is he's going to miss some time inevitably. Just a matter of it being 10 games, 20 games, half the season, etc.. Dude averages 50 games played a season over his 8 years now... Also, even after his big bounce back year this season, watching Lauri play and how aggressive he can be (almost Giannis-like at times) makes you realize how soft Porzingis is for a guy with that size/abilities. Still a good grab for them. If Kornet and Muscala can get minutes there then Porzingis should be able to carve out a big role.

Obviously Washington just needed to move on.

Knicks fans will now have to stalk Porzingis in Boston I guess.

That would make sense because that nonsense of Atlanta giving them Collins or Clint for bertans isn’t happening (surely)

That man is going to get gassed thee **** up in Boston.

Whenever certain players sign/get traded to certain teams, those fans will talk that player up it’s the 2nd coming of (insert HOFer). But it’s the offseason and the false optimism/hope is running high for all 30 teams’ fans.

                              Not thrilled with this news.

I had hoped KP did enough this year to trick some team into giving up just a little better compensation.

The 30th pick? Can they throw in the rights to the Timelord nickname at least?

"The Pistons, Cavaliers, and Pacers have made inquiries about Tobias Harris’ availability, per @PompeyOnSixers

The Sixers are reportedly asking for ‘outrageous packages in return"

I do think he is a credible source. He is part of the reason Sixers got docked for tampering last year lol. I do think that report is true. Morey is the type of GM/President of basketball ops that wants to "win" every trade he does. It was one thing when he was doing that with Ben Simmons, but you can't do that with Tobias. I think Tobias is better suited as a 2nd/3rd option on a team with no real expectations. He can get you close to 20 and 7 rebs on efficient numbers. He's not suited for the 4th option/C&S guy. He's a rhythm player that can disappear in games if he isn't involved early. His defense has been good the last couple years, you just don't want him to be your best perimeter defender.

I wouldn't mind potentially trade packages from Pistons or Pacers. I would take a Bogdanovic and Burks. That would be two 40% 3pt shooters . Or Buddy Hield and McConnell/Theis. Buddy Hield in lineup with Embiid would thrive from the gravity that Embiid attracts and either McConnell would provide good depth. I'm not sure how Cavs make the money work since Lavert is a UFA and after their top 4 guys, the rest of the roster doesn't make much money. The problem with a lot of potential Tobias trades is that it creates a bigger problem than potential shooting bonuses it gains. Ideally, you want a legit 3& D wing to replace Tobias. You're not getting that with Pistons or Pacers. Only team that could help that would be the Clippers. I wouldn't mind a Clippers deal that was Eric Gordon, Covington for Tobias. But Clippers don't need to do that since both of those guys are on expiring deals.
