Sucks you got stuck in the same bracket as richmond. No worries though now isn't the time to look ahead. Got a few big games before that.

Love seeing the Pac-10 domintating with 7 teams. Tought draw with Duke in Round 2. Reminds me of the crappy seeding that Gonzaga and Saint Mary's got this year having to play Villanova and Syracuse.

Yep, gotta beat Southern Louisiana first. I don't want to be Georgetown (who lost to #14 Ohio this year in real life)!

Yeah, Duke could be tough. They did beat #2-seeded Clemson a couple games ago, though. However, they're still 19-11, so I think I can handle them.

Went by Gamestop today to get rid of some old timers I had lying around....NCAA Football 07, 08, 09, Madden 07, 08, 09, 2K Baseball 07, NBA 2K7....I have a problem if you haven't noticed

Of coarse they still didn't have CH 2k8 even though they did have NBA 2K8. Sitting right next to it though was Head Coach 09, another game I've never played but always wanted to try. Looks like Coach Thomas is going to get some NFL experience before July rolls around. I'll let you know when I get it started.

Have you looked ahead yet to see what Duke is rated? Definitely keep your foot on the gas against So La. Try to bury them buy 35 to send a message around the country that your team is for real. How do you like this class in comparison to your last one at Princeton?

It sucks that you cannot find the game at Gamestop. I'd think it's for sale used on Ebay somewhere.

Holy crap, Duke is rated a 94 OVR, which might be the best rating in the nation. I have no idea how they went 19-11... Not good for me.

This class isn't as good as my last few at Princeton, probably, but I'm still very pleased with it.

St. Petersburg, FL - The San Francisco Dons (31-5, 11-3 WCC) are headed to Houston! The Dons blew out the Duke Blue Devils (20-12, 9-7 ACC) 71-48 to advance to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time during Coach Frizzell's two year tenure at San Francisco.

The Duke Blue Devils grabbed the early lead against the Dons as they held a lead during the majority of the first half. Towards the end of the half, however, San Francisco took the lead for good. The Dons led 33-29 at the half.

San Francisco turned up the defensive intensity in the second half as Coach Frizzell began to run primarily a 1-3-1 zone defense and it worked to perfection. The Dons made a huge run in the second half and eventually took a commanding 64-40 lead. With the Dons completely romping the Blue Devils, Coach Frizzell elected to take the starters out as the Dons went on to win 71-48.

The San Francisco defense held the Blue Devils to 33% shooting from the floor and 30% from three-point range. In addition, Duke turned the ball over 13 times while only recording 9 assists.

The Dons were led by strong performances from Jason Redick, Owen Kole, Matt Owen, and Walter Proffitt. Redick had yet another strong performance as he hit five three-pointers on his way to 17 points and 3 steals. Kole came up one rebound short of a double-double as he totaled 17 points and 9 rebounds. Proffitt added 11 points and 9 rebounds while Owen paced the offense with 11 points and 7 assists.

The Dons will take on the winner of #2 Richmond/#7 Wake Forest in the Sweet Sixteen.

Wow. That is like the first time in all of my legacis and reading others in which I have seen less then 3 or 4 upsets.

Would've liked to see a Richmond vs San Francisco matchup in a Battle of Mid's, look like now you just get to dominate another ACC team.

Congrats on the big win over Duke. Where is JJ Redick when I need to tease him about his team losing

I am picking San Francisco vs W. Virginia in the Finals. San Fran wins the National Title, Coach Huggins is so impressed he resigns and asks WVU to hire Coach Frizzell to take his place.

LOL you ran the 1-3-1 you damn cheeser, wonder where you got that idea from?!? Thats awsome, I always have trouble running a zone in basketball games, I usually end up getting rained on. Glad it worked out for you though.

Yeah, there was only one shocking upset this time in #13 Samford winning in the first round, but they got rolled over in round #2, anyways.

I would have, too, but I think I'll just enjoy my easier road to the Elite Eight.

LOL. At least J.J. Redick's potential relative plays for USF (Jason Redick), so maybe that would make him feel better.

I don't know if we'll make it that far, but with the way the boys played in the first two rounds, it's certainly possible.

Could it be Mr. John Beilein?

I've always ran it in my basketball legacies because of that, though I usually throw a lot of other defensive looks out there, as well. In the Duke game, I played a mix of man, 2-3, 1-3-1, 3-2, 2-1-2 and triangle-and-two zones throughout the game.

The 1-3-1 either works or it doesn't. It sometimes allows way too many backcuts and allows some open threes in the wings and corners, but Duke simply couldn't shoot last night at all, so I was able to run it almost exclusively in the second half since the Blue Devils couldn't hit their threes. I guess they could have used J.J. Redick last night, LOL.

Houston, TX - The sportswriters were typing away fast and furiously about how the San Francisco Dons (32-5, 11-3 WCC) blew a 30-21 advantage late in the first half and got blown away in the second half. They were writing about how Owen Kole simply got outclassed by bigger, faster, and more talented Wake Forest players. They were writing about how Wake Forest (22-13, 7-9 ACC) was headed to the Elite Eight to take on either #1 Pittsburgh or #5 Marquette.

                            Then something happened.

Down 13 points, Jaime Barton hit a clutch three-pointer with 11:12 left in the ball game to cut the lead to 10. Owen Kole and Walter Proffitt also scored buckets in the following 51 seconds as the Dons embarked on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to six points with 10:23 left. From the 11:12 mark on out, the Dons would go on a 26-12 run.

Owen Kole shot 1-7 in the first half and was 1-9 shooting going into the final four minutes of the ball game. However, he finally got going again with a layup at the 3:07 mark to tie the game up at 70 apiece.

With 2:30 left, Kole made the Dons' go-ahead bucket as he turned around and shot a hook shot which swished through the net to put USF ahead 72-70.

Wake Forest got a chance to tie the game with 53 seconds left, but Steffan Newton only hit one of two free throws.

Owen Kole missed a shot with 31 seconds remaining and the score still 71-72 in favor of the Dons. Wake Forest would have a chance to win with a two or a three.

The Dons played inspired defense on the final possession as they played in-your-face hard-nosed man defense and did not allow Wake Forest to get off a clean shot. Finally, with time about to expire, Ahmad Vianney was forced to shoot a contested 18-footer from the wing, which clanked off the front rim, then off the backboard. The Dons had won the game 72-71, despite having their star center play the worst game of his young career.

"This is a huge win to this team and this program," beamed Coach Frizzell following the victory which gave the Dons an Elite Eight berth. "We have a chance to take this program to heights it has not seen since the late 1950s when this program won 60 games in a row. This is huge for us and it is a very exciting time for San Francisco basketball!"

With Owen Kole struggling most of the game, Bernard Mendoza played well. The sophomore power forward scored 10 points and grabbed 3 boards and converted 5 of his 6 shot attempts into buckets.

Jason Redick also continued to come up huge. Redick hit a trio of three-pointers as he scored 19 points. Walter Proffitt also had a huge game as he scored 15 points, grabbed 9 boards, and blocked a pair of shots.
