Love seeing WSU in the Top-25. Looks like Rider might be ready to make a nice run into the tourney.

Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
Yeah, the wheels really fell off for them. I had a close game with them early in conference play, too. Their overall rating is really high, so I'm not sure what's up with them. It seems that sometimes teams get on ridiculous losing streaks in CH 2K8. I've seen similar things happen with high-rated teams a few times.
Indeed. Rider seems to have a solid squad. Fairfield is good, too. The MAAC is pretty tough this year.Last edited by superjames1992; 02-28-2014, 01:59 AM.Comment

#1 West Virginia (25-2) vs. Georgetown (11-16)
Verizon Center
Washington, DC
February 25, 2026
No. 1 West Virginia (25-2, 14-1) had a tough go at it this evening as the Mountaineers struggled for most of the game against the Georgetown Hoyas (11-16) on the road. Nevertheless, the Mountaineers persevered and clinched at least a share of the Big East regular season title as they defeated the Hoyas 69-62.
The Mountaineers struggled in large part due to the foul trouble their bigs faced. Tre Welch only played 22 minutes and fouled out with five minutes remaining while fellow big man Len Shields only managed 25 minutes of playing time after picking up a pair of quick fouls during the opening minutes of the game.
D.C. Montgomery led the Mountaineers in scoring again as he ended with 16 points, four rebounds, and three steals. Anderson Black added 14 points, four assists, and three steals while Leandro Summers was the other double-digit scorer with 11 points.
Senior power forward Jaja Morales led the Hoyas in scoring with 14 points and five rebounds. Brandon Urbina also totaled 11 points and five rebounds while Benny Washington added 10 points, five rebounds, and three steals.
The Mountaineers will travel to Pittsburgh to face the Panthers in the annual "Backyard Brawl" on Saturday.

Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
I have to wonder if his seat is now getting hot in real life at South Florida. He had a couple good 20-win seasons at USF (20 wins and an NIT birth in 2010 and 22 wins and a couple NCAA Tournament wins in 2012), but the last couple years has been horrible for the Bulls.Comment

#1 West Virginia (26-2) vs. Pittsburgh (12-16)
Petersen Events Center
Pittsburgh, PA
February 28th, 2026
It was a rivalry game, but one team was clearly superior to the other. It wasn't supposed to be close, but it was. Rivalry games typically have a way of ending up as close games, especially when the "better" team is on the road; you can seemingly throw the teams' respective records out. That couldn't have been more true today as No. 1 West Virginia (26-2, 15-1) found itself in a fight for survival against a Pittsburgh squad that has been struggling terribly all year. The Panthers (12-16, 6-10) led the majority of the game as West Virginia struggled in all facets of the game. However, as great teams often do, the Mountaineers woke up in the closing minutes and managed to squeak away with an 85-78 victory, ensured by a plethora of free throws in the closing minute, in which the Panthers got as close as three points.
WVU committed 11 turnovers in the first half as the Mountaineers trailed 44-37 at halftime, but only committed a pair of second half turnovers.
"We were playing very sloppy in the first half," remarked WVU's Coach Frizzell. "I don't mean to imply we played well in the second half, either, but at least we were getting shots off rather than throwing the basketball to the other team."
A perfect example of the turnover problem was point guard Anderson Black. Black committed six turnovers, a very troubling statistic for a point guard. However, all of his turnovers came in a disastrous first half and he turned it around in the second period. He also was excellent at scoring the basketball as he nailed three three-pointers and six shots overall to score a career-high 20 points. He also tallied three assists.
Len Shields had a fantastic game against a smaller Pitt front line as he tallied a double-double, totaling 16 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. D.C. Montgomery struggled, but still managed 11 points, seven rebounds, and four assists while Leandro Summers contributed 11 points.
Raymond Carpenter led Pitt in scoring with 16 points and four steals. Elmer Cleaves had a nice game, tallying 15 points and seven rebounds while Taurean Chan added 15 points, three rebounds, and three assists.
Pittsburgh struggled from three-point range, where the Panthers only connected on three of their 15 attempts. West Virginia hit 10 of their 23 attempts from downtown.
The Mountaineers will host No. 25 Connecticut in two days on Senior Night.

Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
Yeah, this is a great team. I think we have a pretty decent shot to go all the way this year.
I'm not sure, but I'll check next time I have the game played on if I think about it. I don't believe they're a tournament-team this year, but I might be wrong.Comment
