      Notre Dame, IN
      March 7th, 2026

West Virginia won its second straight game by the exact same final score of 70-64 as in their last game as No. 2 West Virginia (28-2, 17-1) powered past No. 20 Notre Dame (21-10, 13-5) to win its 12th straight victory as the Mountaineers and Fighting Irish finished off their regular seasons.

Len Shields had another great game as he scored a team-high 17 points for the mountaineers, in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Leandro Summers hit a pair of threes and tallied 16 points, four rebounds, and five steals (a career-high) while D.C. Montgomery hit six of 12 shot attempts on his way to 15 points, four rebounds, and three assists.

Cornelius Bracy scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Irish. Dusty Hailey added 12 points.

Both teams struggled holding onto the basketball as the Mountaineers turned the basketball over 18 times while the Fighting Irish turned the ball over 16 times. WVU had a decisive advantage on the boards, where they outrebounded Notre Dame 35-24, in large part because of sophomore center Tre Welch's 15-rebound performance.

Next up for the Mountaineers is the Big East Tournament, which they enter at 28-2 overall and 17-1 in Big East Conference play as the #1 seed.

To be honest, I don't remember. I'm a few games behind in updating. I know myself and Tennessee were #1 seeds in Bracketology.

                March 12th, 2026

It took a miracle, but No. 2 West Virginia (29-2) avoided being swept by the St. John's Red Storm (19-14) this season as the Mountaineers avenged their earlier loss in Big East Conference play with a thrilling 68-66 victory tonight in the 2nd Round of the Big East Tournament.

The Mountaineers dominated the first half, but slouched in the second half, eventually allowing the Red Storm to take a 66-65 lead in the closing seconds. WVU inbounded the ball with a couple seconds remaining after calling a timeout after the ball was passed through halfcourt. There was little time to do anything but chuck up a game-winning shot. D.C. Montgomery answered the call as he received the basketball at the left wing and shot a contested 23-footer for the win and swished it, giving the Mountaineers the thrilling 68-66 victory!

Montgomery led WVU in scoring with 19 points, four rebounds, and three steals. Len Shields added 14 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and four steals while Tre Welch tallied a double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds.

Both teams were sloppy with the basketball, but WVU had a decisive edge in the rebounding battle.

Darron Farrell led the Red Storm with 17 points while Don Osimani tallied 13 points, five rebounds, and two blocks.

The Mountaineers will face fourth-seeded Syracuse tomorrow evening in the Big East Conference Tournament Semifinals.

Gotta love the buzzer beaters! Congrats and keep it going. It's a shame the Big East is no longer the same IRL...this tournament was always amazing to watch no matter what the matchup was. I'm glad we can relive this thrilling conference through you!

Agreed. It was a great run and it's a shame the Big East is no longer with us. I know the Catholic Seven amd some former Atlantic Ten schools are now known as the Big East, but it just isn't the same. I miss when WVU used to play in the Big East. It's just hard for me to get excited about Big Twelve conference games, to be honest.

Indeed! St. John's is a tough out for me this year for whatever reason.

BTW, I lost power from the ice storm we had overnight and into this morning, so there will be no more updates until power is restored. I'm not sure how long that will take. It could be hours or days...

I think it's amazing you're still doing this.

I think it's amazing you still remembered to come check the boards.

I'm trying to make it a habit again lol. Plus I've been only playing collegd hoops lately. If only I had the patience to play a lotta games. Or patience and time to post fancy things like this or yours. Or any other dynasty lol. Which is odd because I keep some information in a notebook that nobody will probably see. (Team, record, conference regular and tourney champs, ncaa champs, my post season result. And record vs rivals)

Seriously though James. This is amazing to have such a level of commitment. I'm amazed and jealous at the same time lol.
