Regarding the schedule, after last year's absolute gauntlet of a non-conference schedule, I was looking for something a bit more easy and realistic this time around. So, aside from adding the Great Alaska Shootout, adding a road game at #1 Tennessee, and adding a trip to Princeton at the Jadwin Gym, I left the games as they were at default. I will probably also play UNC in the Great Alaska Shootout Championship Game, though UNC isn't all that great themselves (86 OVR).

As far as minutes, it can be difficult. I've got a glut of guards right now while I'm a bit thin in the frontcourt. I particularly have "problems" at shooting guard, where I have no established backup to Leandro Summers and three guys vying for the job. Trammell will be Black's backup, however, and Helms is pretty much assured to back up Montgomery at SF. Helms also could see some time at PF if we play some small-ball (since Helms is 6'8", anyways) to utilized our plethora of shooting guards.

I did a double take: #5 South Florida? What are they cooking down in Tampa?

Good luck on the new year.

Yeah, I have no clue why they are ranked so high. Their overall rating isn't even that great (88 OVR), hence why they are predicted sixth in my preseason conference predictions (which I simply based on OVR ratings).

            November 16th, 2025

No. 19 West Virginia (1-0) kicked off its season tonight against the winless Alcorn State Braves (0-3) out of the Southwestern Conference. Though the Mountaineers struggled to score the basketball, the WVU defense stepped up in a big way and shut Alcorn State down as the Mountaineers trounced the Braves 65-35.

The Braves only shot 23% from the field and four-for-28 from three-point range. In addition, Alcorn State only managed to make it to the charity stripe twice, where they drained one of two.

"We had a really nice game defensively," remarked Coach Frizzell. "We have a good team defensively this year and it's important that we don't let our guard down against better teams. If we can keep up this kind of defensive play all year, we will be tough to beat."

D.C. Montgomery and Len Shields were the only WVU players to get any real scoring going. Montgomery scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Mountaineers. He also grabbed three rebounds. Len Shields tallied the only double-double of the game as he hit nine of 12 shots for 18 points, 11 boards, and a pair of blocks.

West Virginia will face Alabama A&M on Wednesday in the first round of the Great Alaska Shootout in Anchorage, AK.

I've been catching up with this for the past few weeks now and it's amazing that it's still going.

I have NCAA Basketball 10 but today I was inspired to purchase College Hoops 2K8 at GameStop because of this thread. Can't wait to start one of these on my own.

Thanks for keeping this going over the years and me entertained over the past few weeks!

Thank you, and CH 2K8 is the best video game I've ever played, period. I've never logged so many hours on any other video game. Of course, that's just me, but if you like college basketball, it's hard not to like this game.

Another game yields another win for No. 12 West Virginia (2-0). The Mountaineers played another fantastic hard-nosed defensive slugfest as they blew out the previously undefeated Alabama A&M Bulldogs (3-1) today 73-39. It was the Mountaineers' second consecutive game of holding their opponent under 40 points.

The Bulldogs shot a mere 28% from the floor and shot all blanks in their 22 attempts from beyond the arc. The game also featured one of the single most miserable performances in NCAA history from a single player as Alabama A&M's Nate West, a 6'9" senior from Memphis, fired away 22 shot attempts and drew blanks and each and ever last one of them. He did score two points via a trip to the charity stripe to avoid being shut out, however.

Collis Stevenson was the Bulldogs' only double-digit scorer as he led them with 11 points and three rebounds. Smackey Sherman was key in A&M's surprisingly effective rebounding effort as he managed eight points and 10 rebounds.

D.C. Montgomery led the Mountaineers with 15 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Leandro Summmers tallied 13 points and hit three treys while Len Shields just missed out on a double-double with nine points and 15 rebounds. WVU junior point guard Anderson Black had the most impressive performance of the night, however, as he stuffed the stat sheet all across the board, recording 11 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists.

The Mountaineers will face Alabama-Little Rock in the semifinals of the Great Alaska Shootout tomorrow. UALR defeated Dartmouth in their first round game 71-46. The other semifinal matchup will pit North Carolina and Illinois-Chicago against one another.

Indeed, he did! His performance will always be "memorable," though perhaps not in the way he'd like.

Haha, but seriously. Sometimes weird things happen in CH2K8. It is a really good game, but sometimes you just have to live with the weird stuff and move on.

Nice blowouts to start the season. It's always nice when your starting backcourt scores the same as the other team.
