The Big East looks pretty potent this year...I remember you saying recently it hasn't been great from top to bottom last few seasons.

Yeah, the Big East has been down for much of the time I've been at WVU, but it looks really strong this year.

The ACC still looks to retain the RPI #1 spot, though. They've pretty much been the #1 conference in this legacy for the past decade.

Iowa State (4-5) vs. #9 West Virginia (11-1)
        WVU Coliseum
        Morgantown, WV
        December 27th, 2025

In their final non-conference regular season game, No. 9 West Virginia (11-1) came out and absolutely humiliated the visiting Iowa State Cyclones (4-5) this afternoon in Morgantown as the Mountaineers claimed an 85-55 victory to earn their 11th win of the season.

After a narrow victory against cross-state rival Marshall last week, the Mountaineers were out for blood tonight. The game was never close as WVU immediately jumped out to a huge lead and led by 23 points at halftime. The Mountaineers dialed it back a bit in the second half, but even so still won by 30 points.

D.C. Montgomery led the Mountaineers with a game-high 20 points, four rebounds, and three steals. Tre Welch tallied a double-double with 12 points, 16 rebounds, and three blocks. Len Shields also recorded a double-double as he ended with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks.

Branden Hart led Iowa State with 18 points and four assists.

The Mountaineers kick off conference play on New Year's Day in the Carrier Dome against Syracuse.

            January 1st, 2026

No. 7 West Virginia (12-1, 1-0) kicked off the Big East Conference season on a high note this evening as the Mountaineers knocked off the Syracuse Orange (8-3) in the Carrier Dome 83-64.

West Virginia got off to a hot start and slowly pulled away throughout the first half. West Virginia held a 16-point lead at halftime and lead by as many as 24 points in the second half.

WVU shot 54% from the field and went to the free throw line 21 times this evening, both of which ended up being key in the Mountaineers' victory. Syracuse was held to 42% shooting and only made nine trips to the free throw line.

D.C. Montgomery led the Mountaineers with 20 points, nine rebounds, and a pair of blocks. Tre Welch added 17 points, five rebounds, and two blocks while Len Shields totaled 13 points, seven rebounds, and a career-high four blocks. In fact, collectively, the Mountaineers tallied an amazing total of 10 blocks this evening. Syracuse amassed zero blocks.

Junior guard Souleymane Miller was the only Orange player to get into double-figures as he ended with 15 points, five rebounds, three assists, and four steals.

The Mountaineers will host No. 5 South Florida on Saturday. The Bulls started off the season 10-0, but have lost their past two games (against Utah Valley State and No. 14 Villanova).

It is often said that your stars come up big when it matters. That couldn't have been any more true tonight for No. 7 West Virginia (13-1, 2-0) as D.C. Montgomery and Len Shields turned in two fantastic performances tonight to propel the Mountaineers past the fifth-ranked South Florida Bulls (10-3, 0-2) 88-68. The Bulls have now lost three straight games and are almost guaranteed to drop out of the top 10 on Monday.

D.C. Montgomery and Len Shields were something special tonight. Montgomery tied his previous career-high of 32 points and also tallied four rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. The 6'6" sophomore also nailed a career-high six three-pointers in the game as he shot six-for-eight from beyond the arc. Len Shields also played extremely well. The 7'0" senior scored a career-high 29 points (his previous career-high was 26 points) and grabbed nine rebounds. Shields shot 13-for-17 from the field.

Of note, Shields and Montgomery combined to score the Mountaineers' first 18 points of the game.

West Virginia got off to a hot start, especially offensively, and led 53-36 at halftime. WVU's shooting cooled off a bit in the second half, but the Mountaineers still held onto their large lead easily.

Anton Forney scored 12 points and grabbed four steals for the South Florida Bulls. Tommy Gakou tallied 12 points while Derrick Lloyd added 10 points and seven rebounds. Jason McCurry paced the Bulls offense with 11 points, three rebounds, eight assists, and four steals.

West Virginia's road gets no easier as they will hit the road and head to Milwaukee, WI to take on No. 3 Marquette on January 8th.

Ha, South Florida gets exposed again when the competition heats up. Figures.

Nice win, and awesome shooting night by Montgomery. It's great when you can get a huge jump on your opponent like that, and at east you never let them back into the game.

As it turns out (I have played a little further ahead), USF does not appear to be overrated this year, actually. It is quite a change for them as they usually fall part in Big East play (much like their football team does in real life, actually).

Anyways, it was a surprisingly easy game, but I'll take it. I had a comfortable lead throughout, which helped to take the pressure off.

                        Not back!

Haha, hopefully I will resume this sometime soon. I've played a decent bit of NBA 2K13 lately and I must admit that it is hard to get used to the lack of floor spacing in CH 2K8. Also, the game plays very, very fast, so I think I need to tone back on the game speed a lot.

NBA 2K13 is a great game, but Association Mode still can't really stack up to CH 2K8's Legacy Mode (nothing can), so I will be back to this, I am sure.

GREAT work so far, it had me hook for a good while to reach to this point!!

Keep it up!! I smell a National Title for you by the way!!
Hopefully I got CH 2k8 and have one still running 4 years from now!!

This legacy is pretty darn cool, I would not have the patience to keep that up this long! Im about to get the game as well and was wondering if there was still a way to get the rosters? Probably not the right place to ask but I know people will view it here, please and thanks
