Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE
I can't even begin to imagine what tabata burpees would have been like.
Wrong. Your body doesn't work like that and there are no night-time insulin fairies ready & waiting to store carbs in the fat tissue.
Common misconceptions about nutrition hinder your fitness results. Let Alan Aragon fix up the misconceptions and get you on the right track.
Many people believe that eating carbs at night results in fat gain, automatically. Learn why this myth is false, and what matters in regards to weight gain.
Two thumbs up - I recently switched to WPX Hosting and recommend their speed, service and security - they do know what they are talking about when it comes to WordPress hosting.
Originally posted by nutrition guru Alan Aragon2) Food at night will cause weight gain – almost everyone has heard of this gem. Is there any truth to the claim that eating food at night will cause unnecessary weight gain? What about carbohydrates specifically?
Alan: Whether fat oxidation is greater during waking or sleeping hours doesn’t matter. What matters is 24-hour fat balance, which is fat synthesis minus fat oxidation. See, those are the 2 sides to the equation. If you eat less during the day & more at night, fat oxidation will occur at a greater rate during the day. If you do the opposite, fat oxidation will occur at a greater rate through the night – & you end up at the same spot. After 24 hours, the body doesn’t know nor care which half of the day contributed to either a net loss, gain, or maintenance of fat balance. Unless you have a specific need for increased energy intake (ie, prolonged competition in a particular sport ocurring in the earlier part of the day), there’s no reason to assume that eating more during the day & less in the evening is INHERENTLY beneficial for body composition goals.Comment

Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Still doing it up.
Weighed 273.4 pounds on January 1, 2012. I stand 6'5". Well, six-five-and-three-quarters without shoes.
248.2 when I got on the scale today.
Diet and nutrition is huge... and that whole thing about not eating carbs after 6 PM? Works for me.
Shooting for 235 by April 1. Tall order, but I should get there. I am still consuming 1,800-2,000 calories per day.Comment

Weighed in at 194 this morning. I had some Mickey D's last night!
This will catch up to me, I feel it.Comment

Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE
CJ, brother, the pizza, combos, Mickey D's, and potato chips diet won't last long. Regardless of whether or not you're losing weight, or maintaining a weight, you're clogging your arteries and overall becoming less healthy.
I'd be awfully careful and watch what you eat, because it will eventually catch up to you. Otherwise, we'd all be on the same diet, lol.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE
I know it's still not the healthiest, but when I'm with a big group of people and they want to eat at BK or somewhere similar, I always look for the grilled chicken... I hate to be "that guy" and refuse to eat where the other 5 people want to go.Comment

I'm well aware of the main reason for this. I have not had alcohol in over a month and a half, and have limited my late night snacks. That, combined with light work outs and 2-3 mile walk daily, has given me results.
Honestly, it is busy season at work, so, I have been here 'till 7 most days. I am forced to get decent sized lunch.
I'll cut back only because I don't like wasting money on food like this!Comment

Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE
And this wasn't even the FULL burpee, as I left the pushup out. I'm gonna have to work up to full burpees.
