I don't watch the NBA but I still bought 2K last year, and probably will this year when there is a black Friday sale. I'm willing to spend money on a game with a good franchise mode even if it's a sport I don't follow

I just wish 2k would take a year off actually. Still put out the game obviously. But not try to greatly improve offline MyLeague. Just so I don't feel pressured to get the next one.

Was ganna try to get some miles out of 2k17 but 18 is calling my name...

Completely different feeling than Madden. Sigh.

Yep, and the sad part is that Madden is the only option. Hell, in 2004 we could play Madden, 2k, Blitz, Gameday and/or NCAA. As much as technology and gaming has grown since then, you would think we would have a bunch of really good football options. Instead we got an exclusivity deal, likeness lawsuits, and a game whose focus is on rental trading cards.

I am in the same boat. Nba2k is a good enough game to offer the non fan enjoyment. Madden is not on my opinion.

Have you guys ever taken a look at MUT? I'm not talking in regards to actively participating in the mode, just looking at the content it receives.

It literally gets new content 5x a week. They give you so many new things you can't even keep up.

The comparison to CFM is quite depressing

Same here, I barely watch the NBA but 2K is good enough of a game for me to want to buy it. Meanwhile I watch the NFL but Madden is bad enough that I don't play it.

Well yeah, that's all of these card-collection modes. They're built to thrive off of updated cards and periodic drops of new/special edition/legendary/etc.. cards to keep interest from its users. Same for 2K's MyTeam and MLB's Diamond Dynasty (and I assume NHL and FIFA, though I don't play them so I can't say for sure) - they get fresh content all season long and their franchise modes don't. Their franchise modes are (very obviously) more feature-rich than Madden's, but if we're looking at it purely as "look at the live content MUT receives compared to franchise", it's really no different than the other sports games.

Speaking generally, what kind of live content updates like those in the card-collecting modes would apply to franchise mode?
