I really don't know...could be some of both. Cincy and Notre Dame are good teams, but they're still well below my team in OVR (my team is 95 OVR and I believe both of them were in the mid to upper 80s). They're not so low that losing to them is a huge shocker, but at the same time they are games we should be winning.
Defensively, we were out of control in the last game, for sure. The amount of fouls committed was outrageous. Chucking up 30+ threes maybe wasn't the best course of action, either, although we hit them at a good enough percentage, and our best big man O.J. Palmer seemed to have a case of the yips, anyways.
The Big East has lost some of its luster in recent years in this legacy, though it probably has as much to do with my team sucking all the air out of the building as anything. There's a lot of teams in the mid-80s, but not a lot of 90+ OVR teams (I know UConn is this year, and Louisville and Syracuse may be as well, but I can't remember). My guess is that as teams have struggled to compete in the conference, their recruiting has possibly stagnated a little. Only four teams of the 16 made the NCAA Tournament last season, which was disappointing. Maybe it's just cyclical and the conference will strengthen again in the coming years, though. They're certainly giving me a hard enough time this season. I'm not sure I am going to win the regular season conference title at this rate.
