Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
oobgolf is also pretty nice for a tracking app. That's what I've been using.
I get a chance to play at Chambers Bay this Thursday, which is hosting the 2015 US Open. I'm fully prepared to shoot like a 150 or 160, but I'm pumped to get a chance to play there! And at a huge discount too: only $65 when it normally would've been $169. Hopefully my new irons come in before then!Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Honestly, there are two keys at least for me when approaching a green with an iron. That is alignment and tempo.
I know these things sound simple but that really is it for me. I know a lot of people feel added pressure to hit the green because there short game may not be up to snuff and feel they will lose strokes if they miss it. So they end up getting quick or laying off to try and not make a mistake then end up losing it short or right.
The thing that really gives me confidence in attacking greens are trusting my alignment and knowing that my swing plane will naturally fall into place and keeping down on the shot with my same tempo.
Now, obviously there is more to hitting greens then just those two things, but I've put in enough work with the other things such as grip, take away, posture etc. that those are really the only two things I have to worry about. The rest falls into place.
Random, but thinking back the best shot I hit of the day was on 15. I know the scorecard says 546 but it was playing more like 560-565 with where they had the tee box. Striped a drive into the wind about 306 and had about 260 into a front left pin location. Absolutely ripped a 3 iron hybrid to about 20 feet for eagle. Power lipped the putt unfortunately but striping that hybrid was a great feeling.Xbox LIVE GT: oALEXtheGREATo

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Well, finally got back in my groove after a frustrating couple weeks. Still my putting could have been a lot better but I feel the changes I've been making in that area are starting to pay off and it won't be long before I start reaping the full benefits of my work.
Also, I found this new app called Golfshot. Some of you may already know about it, but this thing is fantastic for tracking stats, such as GIR and FIR percentages, Scrambling stats etc. It also generates a scorecard for you after the round.
Again still not happy with 33 putts. This round easily could have been 65-66. I was burning edges all day. But, with a putter change and other changes being made with my putting stroke, I'm still getting comfortable with new technique and can't expect to perfect it right away.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Well, I don't know if you saw my post earlier but I am moving to Florida here in less than a month to pursue a golf career.
It's more than being able to hit it a long way though. I still have things that I know I have to get better at if I really want to do those things such as get my card or compete for amateur titles.
There are ALOT of great players out there who could do what I do, so I have to keep working and improving. My putting is still a WIP and my scrambling needs improvement. The key is being able to shoot the type of score I posted when you're not hitting the ball well, and at times I still struggle when doing so. That is the key.
I do think I am well on my way, if I keep putting in the work and connect with the right coach who can guide me which should happen in the near future.
I'm definitely going to keep this thread updated on my path, and I hope that I will be able to get my card at some point. How long that will take I don't know and if it ever happens I don't know either.
Right now I'm kind of in a holding pattern, because there are really no tournaments left in the midwest, so I've just been practicing and playing as much as I can until I get to Florida, then the real work begins.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

The thing about apparel is how it's impossible to buy nike (or any brand) golf pants OTR that are 40x34. I'm 6'2 240lbs damn it.
Online works but I hate not being able to try before I buy.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
What also sucks is most popular retailers have a very limited selection so it's tough to find.
I'm comfortable with buying without trying. I've worn enough Nike apparel to know how it fits so I don't have to think twice when buying.
I now have 5 pairs of the Dri-Fit pants all in 32-32. I'm 6'0 185 and those fit perfect. Just enough snugness but the right amount of give to where I'm always comfortable.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Yeah, I'm fine with wearing a 40x32 on the course, but there are occasions where I will wear grey or black golf pants into the office or to meet a client when I know we are golfing after and it looks wildly unprofessional to have super high waters IMO.Moderator

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Just got back from playing another round. Finished with a +13 85..... my putting sucked. I had 7 3 putts.... unreal. I keep missing a lot of my short putts left, which is starting to get annoying.
On the bright side I hit a 308 yard drive today. Weather here has been sunny for a few weeks straight so the fairways were just dry. Ball took one huge bounce, then a small bounce and just kept rolling. Probably about 270 yards of carry and the rest was roll. I also drove the short par 4 17th in one, went from putting for eagle to putting for par.
Those damn three putts.... kills my score every time. Anyway here was my card for today.

Thought I'd share this too. Friend of mine was with me today, he managed to get this shot.
