I can’t digest it. It takes too long for dude to get to the point. He’s trying to build suspense like a Steven King novel. You seem to think what he said is intriguing, so please post some built points because I can’t listen to this drawn out diatribe. If this happens to be you, please take it as constructive criticism.

Re: Rex on Franchise Mode (10/26)

I'm an off-line Franchise Mode player. Have been for years and still continue. I enjoy trying to coach a team to the Superbowl and scout players to build a team.
Things I miss from the old days...

Create your own team. Including logo, location, colors, stadium,...

Be a Star. There was one version where you created a player (yourself) got drafted to a team and played a career. The fun side is gameplay was normal gameplay, not just that position. There were even fun, stupid news interviews to boost your popularity.

I'm in year 15 of a franchise now in Maddden 17, I am a long term player. I may be one of the few, but it's my release from a long day of work to step into a different world and be a football coach. I also play NHL as a player career, NASCAR as a driver career, and still play NCAA Basketball as a coach.

Thats the scary thing about this interview. Hes trying to overthink on how to make CFM more rewarding to a player to keep them coming back, but forgetting that the reason most of us play it is because we want to step into the world of being a NFL coach or owner. Its about the authentic experience. Right now if i had to give the current CFM a grade I would say its somewhere around a C- as far as depth and authenticity. If Madden really wants to improve this mode and get it where it needs to be then contracts, scouting, coaching, player progression, customization, presentation (NFL draft, pregame shows, halftime shows, post game shows, weekly rundowns) , ALL NEED A HUGE OVERHAUL! The point is the only thing that would keep me coming back to the mode depends on how deep the mode is. Not because of some reward points.

But see, that is the telling part here. The only people that need the type of rewards , like he is talking about, to keep them coming back to CFM is Casuals and that is clearly who they are targeting now and focusing a majority of their CFM time on. So sadly , those of us core guys , might get A bone , while most of changes in CFM go at targeting casuals to draw them into the mode. After 29 years of madden, you would think they would already know what the core CFM crowd wants. Its not rocket science at this point.

Whether it’s TVERTS or Simfball, the next person to interview Rex, Rex needs to be asked “What do you think the SIM community wants” and “How can the SIM community make it clear what the priorities are”

You would also think, being how football is probably the most popular sport in America, that most people would want a football game thats more realistic instead of an arcade-like pick up and play kind of game. FIFA and NHL need to make there's sort of arcade-y because a lot of Americans don't know a ton about the sport and a casual game will help bring them into the sport, it's how I got into soccer and sort-of how I got into hockey. But once you know a lot about the sport, you'll probably want a realistic game to challenge you and immerse you into the pro world of that sport. Madden and EA have that flipped.
