The lower you go the less contest percentage you will see. More space and more open jumpers compared to contested. So to answer your question yes.

For example I just upped it recently. I was having 6-8% contests that went to 30% with pretty much the same distance.

Edit: I should state this is X box next gen & I have no clue if last gen is the same or not?

Wide open J’s go in maybe too much and contested don’t go in at all. I did a scrimmage and shot 50 contested mid ranges with MJ. Zero went in.

Someone also said that the defensive sliders work in reverse for him (contested layup, shots, gather, etc.). When he put them at zero he couldn’t make anything and when he put that at 100 shots were going in.

I made a pretty detailed post about how the defense strength sliders work. The user sliders control how much of an effect the CPU defense has on the user, and vice versa for the CPU sliders. So if the user sliders are at 100 and the CPU sliders are at 0, the user will shoot a low percentage and the CPU will shoot as if everything is wide open.

Yes, should have stated this as well in a previous post.

You can accomplish in 2 ways. Shot coverage and defensive strength whether you want contested shots to be tougher or easier…

Is it possible that the defensive settings dont work? I switched teams before the match to set tactics to double in the post - switched back - and there were still no doubles in the post..??

I am having a bigger issue now. I didn't play yesterday when the update came out and just started to play on ps5 and now I can't change defensive game plan at all its bugged. I don't get any options if I try to change it and if I try to do it during a time out it will not let me change what ever its set to. Also had 2 times in a row where when I tried to change game plan not in a time out and than it wouldn't let me control any one had to exit the game. So seems like the update yesterday brook the game any one else having this issue?

Yes, noticed this earlier on next gen as well. I can’t change any defensive settings during a timeout.

Hopefully its fixed soon I am just like really? I have been loving the game and and never really had a issue with defense but was excited to play more tonight hearing that now the cpu will like give bad shooters the 3 point shot and such. But if this bug is not fixed it basically breaks the game and the fact I had 2 times trying to change things and that end up making me have to exit sense I could't than control any one is really bad. I just closed the application and I am going to try again.

So I just closed the game and am now trying again and the options on defense for gameplan are back. I need to get to bed now though. Odd bug. Not sure if I can change things 100% like I could before or not yet.

So last update got to go to bed but again try to change anything on gameplan and there is no option and again can't control my players after trying. So looks like I am going to have to not play un till 2k fixes this or going to have to just not touch defense settings. Really disappointed that this happened.

Just noticed that AI is hanging off bad shooters (on ball, not off) and they're going under on bad shooters in pnr and over on good shooters.

From my forst 5 minutes, manual pick and roll is absolutely spammable although help on drives is better. Ill need to play multiple games against different teams though.

Manual PNR is 2K21 abusable now. It’s bad. If they go over the roll man is a cheat. It needs fixing. I’d rather go back to Under on everything and defenders warping than this.

And sagging off an 81 rated 3 point shooter is stupid. That threshold should be for under 70. Slight sag for guys up to 75 but after that you have to contest. Anyone else not seeing guys sagging ridiculously on ball for decent but not great 3 point shooters? Wonder if they adjusted slider impact or something else.
