Why is this so hard?

2K literally has the formula needed to make the game near perfect defensively.

2K21 on ball defense (2K21 actually had realistic on ball defense with sliders all the way up, aside from players just standing there once you beat them) without players giving up as you pass them, and then the help defense and double teams 2K22 had at launch.

That’s it! Done! It’d make almost everyone happy. Except the park spammers will never be happy.

Look, I shouldn’t say this. I don’t want a flame issue.

I went through 5 pages on the 2k reddit and not one topic on this or other basketball topics.

Let me guess, mostly complaints about "nerfing steals and buffing the unstrippable badge"

Basically regurgitating what they hear on agent00's YouTube. Who btw, was complaining he couldn't farm for badges in my career because the cpu was overpowered on pro difficulty, which confused him because "pro" difficulty is the easiest difficulty.

No it isn't, rookie obviously is.

I don't even know where to start, there's just so much wrong with the priorities and influence on this game, which is then given preference towards r and d..it's a real bummer.

Its a different audience. Czar even tweeted that the help defense update / removal was to please the "comp players". And they are more valued than sim player because they spent more money than us (Czar even tweeted this). So its no wonder that the game is changed with those players in mind.

A seperation between offline vs CPU and online settings would be huge because I dont see how you can please both sides at the same time.

So based on this I think it makes sense for me to sell my copy while I can still get something back for it. The game was sold to me on false pretenses and changed into a game that is now unplayable. It's amazing what these game companies get away with.

Players who buy the game for offline modes should be offered a refund. I have no doubts that the game will not be fixed for offline modes now because 21 never was. They are catering to their majority audience and dismissing the rest. That's me done with them for good now.

Seperate 'MyCareer and MyTeam modes of gameplay' from every other game modes in the game (which also includes Play Now online/offline, MyLeague online/offline and on.)

MyCareer and MyTeam are a different world of gamers so let them get what they want through tunes, patches every other nonsensical stuff they want to show how good they are but we as other game modes of players we want true to life NBA Basketball game that we can make use of strategies and all that basketball fundamentals.

Yes. I consider myself primarily an online guy. I only play 5 vs 5 nba teams, but my main preference is playing other users

The defending big vs PNR is still the biggest problem. You wouldn’t need so much help if they weren’t so terrible. The decision to remove always under on screens and warp to good position by the on ball defender (bandaid solution at launch) has just exposed the bad AI. The big never hedges on the ball and gives easy releases to the rim. If they switch on ball you can usually blow by them or hit the roll man all day. The big never plays drop coverage to allow the cpu to only use two players to defend the action and prevent buckets at the rim.

My solution is I hope 2K goes back to the unrealistic but still effective under coverage with warping defenders to prevent easy buckets. Then mix in some Over coverage but only if you pair with drop coverage and the big actually defends the rim (I have never seen this in two years afaik so won’t hold my breath).

Drop coverage is one of the most popular coverages and two years in a row it isn’t being used by the cpu? 2K deserves more criticism over this.

Has anyone heard from Da_Czar in the past week? I get worried when I don't see any activity on his Twitter feed as he has been battling health concerns off and on for the past couple of years. I hope he's OK and maybe he's just in the lab working but just wanted to ask to see if anyone has been able to touch base with him. Health is most important!

Yeah, he showed up a few hours ago, blocked me on Twitter for saying the game changed from before, told him a lie had been told

Sometimes I wonder why Sim players torture themselves with the AI, sliders, and everything in between trying to get realistic outcomes. None of these issues are magnified when you play in online leagues against actual human beings who know when and where to bring help amongst other anticipatory and reactionary counters that an AI can never replicate. Join an online league with like minded Sim ballers and Grow the online league community. Stop torturing yourselves with offline play against the robotic and deeply flawed AI. Once you find a legit online league you will cease the madness and torture of dealing with the AI.

Because I went to play how much I want, when I want. I play 95% of the time in the early morning before my family wakes up. The AI wasn’t this bad in 2K20.

But I think its d*** near impossible to get the CPU to play "life like" defense. And when I say impossible, Im talking about the coding aspect. There's something that we, as the general public, would not understand and 2k will not release that information because of competitors and the such.

It depends on your definition of lifelike, but it's definitely possible for them to have defense at a point where it's both challenging and realistic enough to satisfy the sim community. They've done it before.

I can say with certainty the lack of doubles isn’t a glitch and it’s working as intended.

How do I know? Because Czar responded to a tweet asking about disappearing doubles with “they should show up late in the game if a player is super hot.”

Well, I just finished a game. My Bulls were getting scored on in the post quite a bit. No doubles until the last 3 minutes of the game.

I dropped 50 with MJ. He finally got doubled with 3 minutes left when I was already up 12. Almost all of my points in the paint and on drives. Help finally came, and it was great. Except it came 40 minutes too late and was meaningless by the time it came.

Sadly, this broken AI is working as intended. We can only imagine the scene at 2K when the suits told devs to reverse their defensive improvements.

So now we’re stuck with help D like 2K21 and much stickier on ball D. Nobody complained about the help D. I see tons of complaints about the on ball D. Which means it may be a matter of time before they nerf on ball D too and were left with 2K21 with better colors, better halftime shows, better cutscenes and updated face scans.

If this is way it’s gonna be and we lost our favorite aspect of the game (help D) then please for the love of f*** don’t nerf the on ball D. It’s far from real, but it’s all we got in terms of competition now.

Challenging and realistic are two concepts that are very difficult to get right in sports. Majority of us (or at least I do) want the game to be challenging because if not, it will get boring overtime...Yea I would love realistic AI but I understand I'm not playing against Jarvis (AI program from the Marvel Movie lol) so I just take the good with the bad and roll with it.

I still test and try to get the AI to play as realistic as possible but once its hits a point in where the AI just doesn't have to capacity to do this then I'm cool with it.

There's no overtime, it's boring now. It was boring last year with 2k21.

That's the biggest sin this game commits, it's boring.

I just killed the nets (as my hornets) in my Mynba. I was forcing the manual pnr everytime in the hope they would call a timeout and combat it.

Spoilers: they never did. We beat them by 20 and I was yawning the entire way.

If this isn’t fixed and this is what they gloated about for 2k22 biggest feature yes it was implemented but now removed then I won’t be buying 23 and will request a refund for 22 this is ridiculous
