Nice team effort scoring wise, looking like another good season is ahead. What keeps you going now that you've had so much success? Still shooting for the 900/1000 win marks?

Yeah, I'm definitely shooting for the win marks games won milestones ahead. I should get to the 800-win mark this season if we have a solid season (I need 25 wins, IIRC). Otherwise, I just want to win more championships. It's been a few years since I won one, and I've only won three in my 27-year coaching career, so despite the fact that I've had a championship-caliber team for basically the last decade, we are by no means a shoe-in for the title most years. Going forward, it would be nice to replicate John Wooden's success at UCLA, but that is probably going to be tough as I think I've basically peaked. I think from here on out I should be in the title discussion each year, but I don't know if we're going to be able to win several championships in a row or anything like that. Even if you have the best team, winning six games in a row in the NCAA Tournament is hard. You never know, though.

I'd really like to finish the entire 40-year legacy mode. There's still a lot of time left to get to that point, though. At the rate I've been playing this legacy (27 seasons in 10 real-life years, or about 2.7 seasons per real-life year), I won't be finishing this thing up until 2023 or so. But we'll see if the save file lasts that long! I've got the save file on my Xbox 360 and also backed up on a memory card, so there's some redundancy, but it's always a concern.

In a little under a month, this thread (and legacy) turns 10 years old. This legacy has lasted through three presidential terms, haha.

        Marshall (3-4) vs. #5 West Virginia (8-0)
        WVU Coliseum
        Morgantown, WV
        December 3rd, 2034

Charles Rickert notched career-highs in points and rebounds this evening as he totaled 27 points and eight rebounds to lead No. 5 West Virginia (8-0) to an 83-74 victory over cross-state rival Marshall (3-4).

The Thundering Herd led West Virginia 36-35 at the half and led by as many as four points in the second half. However, the Mountaineers began to climb ahead late in the game and emerged victorious despite a substandard 39% (29/74) field goal percentage, including just 29% (8/28) from three-point range.

Nik Buscher added 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Mountaineers and Felipe Delgado scored 10 points to go along with seven rebounds. Damand Pasco added 10 points from off the bench.

Tarik Samuels scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Marshall in both categories. Bob Blair and Broderick Osborn also scored 17 and 14 points, respectively.

West Virginia has next week off before hosting No. 15 Boston College on December 13th.

Hey man I just wanted to say as a fellow Franchiser I have nothing but respect for you. I remember starting a basketball dynasty on here a little over 3 1/2 years and you were by far the GOAT at this, along with another dude I followed called Trekfan. In terms of basketball dynasties, we had ridiculously long ones that are 2nd and 3rd most viewed on here with 130k+ a piece. Then there's you, who was doing it way before us and STILL continuing with 550k+ All-Time views on this dynasty. Naturally you also crush everyone here in terms of replies also. But even in the football dynasties no one even touches you. I say this from personal experience that I've done like 5-8+ dynasties in various sports titles that I eventually get burnt out on / new game releases and I jump from there.

Yet you've done this sh!t for 10+ years! That's like insane longevity on terms of all the quality content you post. I'd say you're the MJ, Brady, or Ruth but tbh all those sports have 2nd place guys who could be argued. You're the Wayne Gretzky of Franchisers where it's you, 50 feet, and then the next guys. I honestly believe no one else on here will ever have the dedication that you have. Mad respect and hope you complete the 40 years!

Thanks, man. Aside from this one, I've never gotten very far with any of the other dynasties I have done, either (you can find many of my ill-started dynasty threads in other games). But for whatever reason, I've been able to stick to this game and legacy for a long time. I think it's a testament to how good CH 2K's legacy mode was and how much replayability the game has. I hope to be able to keep this going for a long time in the future.

This game has aged well in some respects and not aged well in others, but I generally don't touch NBA 2K, so I haven't been "spoiled" by the gameplay of these new basketball titles. I actually bought NBA 2K17 for the Xbox One in 2016 and had some fun with it, but in the end I really don't find Associate mode very gratifying. It isn't that it is not well-done, but the season is too long to really get far with it and make much progress. True, you can shorten the seasons, but this strips away some of the realism for me personally. I think the length of the college basketball season is pretty perfect for my tastes in videogaming. It's long enough to make it a bit of a journey, but not so long that it takes months and months to complete, even when playing games daily.

Looking back, I am somewhat glad another CH 2K game never came out after 2K8, because I would have definitely bought the yearly releases and would have never gotten very deep into legacy mode in any of the games given the yearly development cycle. It was sad at the time, but kind of worked out in the end (for me).

Unfortunately, my two favorite sports video game franchises have been killed off (NCAA Football and CH 2K). I've always liked college sports games because of the turnover from year-to-year (you can't keep the same MVP-caliber quarterback for 15 years, you have new guys coming in all the time, etc.). It helps to keep things from getting stale, IMO.

                  December 13th, 2034

No. 4 West Virginia (9-0) staved off an 11-point first half deficit to come back and defeat No. 10 Boston College (8-2) this evening 91-73 in Morgantown to stay perfect on the season.

Nik Buscher scored 21 points to go along with nine rebounds and four assists for the Mountaineers. Felipe Delgado added 21 points and four boards and Shannon Edwards totaled 14 points and six rebounds. Charles Rickert also added 10 points from off the bench.

The Mountaineers were down 38-27 late in the first half, but closed out the half on a 20-9 run to take a 47-46 halftime lead. The Mountaineers ran away with the game in the second half after they shored up their play on the defensive end, which had allowed Boston College to shoot 57% from the field in the first half.

The Mountaineers shot 57% (32/56) from the field this evening and 45% (9/20) from three-point range.

Leonard Christie scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead Boston College in both categories. Shagari Proffitt added 15 points and five rebounds and Donald Pettyjohn scored 13 points.

Charles Rickert scored 24 points and grabbed six rebounds and Eliz Pocius added 22 points as No. 4 West Virginia (10-0) defeated No. 16 NC State 72-63. Pocius' 22 points broke his previous career-high of 16 points.

The Mountaineers shot 13/27 (48%) from three-point range, which allowed them to overcome a poor performance (34% 2PT FG) from inside the arc. NC State, meanwhile, shot just 3/10 (30%) from beyond the arc, despite shooting 44% (21/48) from the field overall.

Despite tallying a double-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocks, Nik Buscher shot just 3/10 from the field as he was successfully harassed all night long by the Wolfpack (12-4). Shannon Edwards also had a tough time getting much going as he totaled just seven points and six rebounds on 3/6 shooting.

Alaivaa McIntosh scored a career-high 21 points and added five assists to lead North Carolina State in scoring. Lou Kouyate added 14 points.

West Virginia has a week off before hosting Princeton on December 23rd. It will be a reunion game for West Virginia head coach James Frizzell as he faces off the university where he got his first head coaching job way back in the summer of 2007.

Nik Buscher scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as No. 2 West Virginia crushed Princeton this afternoon 86-37.

Felipe Delgado added 20 points and eight rebounds for the Mountaineers (11-0) and Shannon Edwards totaled 17 points, eight rebounds, and four steals while shooting 8/9 from the field.

Princeton (3-8) shot just 24% (13/54) from the field as the Mountaineers dominated the Tigers on the defensive end of the court. West Virginia also dominated on the glass, outrebounding Princeton 51-22.

Maury Armstrong, T.R. Sims, and Stevin Adams each scored six points to lead Princeton in scoring.

Tonight's win gives West Virginia head coach James Frizzell another victory against his former school. He has never lost to Princeton in any of the rematches since he left the school for San Francisco (and later West Virginia). Tonight's win is also win No. 786 of Frizzell's career as he marches towards win No. 800.

West Virginia has tomorrow off, but the Mountaineers will host No. 5 Virginia Tech on Christmas Day in this year's edition of the annual rivalry against the Hokies from Blacksburg.

Wow, great start to the year. Six guys in double figures is nothing to scoff at.

Gotta feel good to really pound your former school, even though it's been so many years since.

Also, how long has the Big East been so mediocre? Relatively recently or just a down year? Seeing the likes of UConn, Louisville, Nova, Georgetown, etc. hover around .500 is odd to see.

Wow just 12 points in the 2nd half by the Tigers. That hurts.

Is the 7-man rotation a new thing. For some reason I thought you used more of your depth in past seasons. Obviously the bench got some action against Princeton but in your other games seems like you starters are logging 30+ mins.
