Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
You took it to 'Cuse, a team that looks like could be contenders the rest of the way, but then had a rough turnover prone game against South Florida and followed that up by almost getting upset by Rutgers.
Looks like you may have your hands full this season in what looks like an awfully strong Big East.
Going by RPI, the Big East is not the best conference (the Big 12 is #1), but it sure seems that it is to me.Comment

vs.
Pittsburgh (14-10) vs. #6 West Virginia (19-3)
WVU Coliseum
Morgantown, WV
January 31st, 2022
Pittsburgh's Mick Nicholson set up for a shot with time winding down. With the clock under one second, the junior guard was forced to fire up a bit of a prayer as he unloaded on a shot from 24 feet out in an effort to win the game. If the shot went in, Pittsburgh (14-10, 5-5 Big East) would win and complete the season sweep of rival WVU (19-3, 7-3 Big East). If the shot missed, Pittsburgh would have been sent home packing with a loss.
As it turned out, his shot scarcely hit the rim as the Mountaineers would win the game 58-57.
"We played some awesome defense during that final possession," explained Coach Frizzell, "and denied them any chance at a good shot. In fact, we played phenomenal defense for the majority of the game."
Even with the missed shot, Mick Nicholson still scored a team-high 13 points and seven rebounds. He was the only Pitt player to score in double-figures.
Raynardo Admundson led the Mountaineers in scoring, finishing with 14 points and four assists. However, the most impressive performance of the night was Marquel Proffitt's as he would end with 13 points and an impressive 16 rebounds. Allan Pena added 11 points and five rebounds to the winning effort.
The Mountaineers struggled to shoot the ball at times, only managing to shoot 39% from the floor overall in the game. However, WVU took good care of the ball, only committing seven turnovers, and did enough to win the game.

vs.
#6 West Virginia (19-4) vs. Providence (12-9)
Dunkin' Donuts Center
Providence, RI
February 5th, 2022
Maybe Providence (12-9, 4-6 Big East) is No. 6 West Virginia's kryptonite. Last year, the Friars beat WVU in Providence to hand them their second loss of the season and then slapped them around in Morgantown 75-59 to hand them their fifth loss of the season to complete the season sweep.
This season, the Friars won again, beating West Virginia (19-4, 7-4 Big East) for the third consecutive time dating back to last year. Once again, the Friars essentially dominated the Mountaineers as the Friars won 79-70. However, it really wasn't even that close as WVU showed no signs of life for the majority of the game.
Providence led 34-25 at halftime and led by as many as 16 points in the second half.
Junior guard Branduinn Famutimi led all scorers with 16 points and three steals. Kirk Tyler totaled 13 points and five rebounds while Scooter Plummer ended with 10 points and a career-high seven assists. J.D. Power also came off the bench to add 14 points, a new career-high for the junior guard.
Marquel Proffitt did all he could to will the Mountaineers to victory, but it was not enough. Proffitt ended the day with 13 points, six rebounds, and a pair of blocks. Raynardo Admundson tallied 11 points, six assists, and three steals while Justino Whitworth added 11 points.
WVU will take on #12 Louisville and Connecticut next week, both of which look to be very loseable games.

Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
Wow, Providence has had your number in recent games. 11 steals and no one really had a bad shooting night for the Friars. With Louisville and UConn coming up, there's not much time to dwell on it either. My Dynasties
