Man, I'm glad I'm not the only one who still remembers Ian talking about taking the game in the EXACT same direction as this new team does. Shout out to Senator Palmer for digging all of those jewels up.

I believe this is where myself and those GC'ers who still remain close to this series disagree. Some of these guys buy into the theory that Ian & co had it mostly wrong, and the new team has the right plan -- they just need (you guessed it) time.

I disagree w/ that completely and that's why I'm more lukewarm than other GCers at this point. As evidenced by just the links posted in this thread, the current regime (on the surface) doesn't appear to be any more sim oriented than the previous staff. Ian had similar ambitions for the Madden series, even if the paths weren't identical. As such, I've been waiting for that great game since my first crack at the studio 5 years ago. Others feel like the slate was wiped clean w/ M13 -- each their own I guess.

End of the day, as I've echoed in the past, all that matters is the product on the shelf. All this talk about old team this and new team that is just a convenient distraction to the subpar game that sits on the shelf each August.

To be fair, not at all saying the game isn't going in the right direction. But I'd like to be able to say more than just that at this point .

The proof will be in the pudding, but I don't see anything wrong with what Rex said, and his williness to be frank about legacy issues and the expectations of the hard core fans is refreshing to be honest.

We'll see if they delivered, but I don't get the criticism of his comments in this case.
