That's not good. That means the sliders didn't help and it's just luck that I haven't seen it today.

I was the Marlins, though and Cantu was playing 1B. Perhaps defensive ability has something to do with it's occurrence.

Re: ***Official MLB 2K9 Retail Version Impressions***

Is their anyway to lessen bloop basehits?

Just got done playing a game...I was up 3-1 against the Phillies in the Bottom of the 8th. I was the Royals.

Brought in Cruz and he proceeded to give up 4 straight hits (2 of the bloop variety) that would have been easily caught in a real game...especially with DeJesus and Crisp in LF and CF (where the bloops occured). Needless to say...they took the lead and shut me down in the 9th.

Does increasing Fielder speed help with that...or will that only be for the IF speed?

Re: ***Official MLB 2K9 Retail Version Impressions***

After playing some games 2K9 is definitly better than 2K8. Computer hitter aggressiveness is definitly an issue, as is the 1B glitch but those are the only things ruining the game for me. Presentation is good. Sometimes the animations are wacky and things don't look right, but it seems to play a solid game of baseball most of the time. I'm not a very picky person at all but i'm liking it a lot more than 2K8. I'd probably give it a 7/10 or something of the sort.

Re: ***Official MLB 2K9 Retail Version Impressions***

I'm actually enjoying the game for the most part. There are some quirks here and there and the game could be much better. Between the lines the game plays a solid game of baseball, AFTER slider adjustments.
One little pet peeve of mine. Pop ups on the infield near the pitcher's mound, the pitcher fields everything. Last I checked, the pitcher it the last guy you want fielding infield pop ups, unless he's the only guy that can make the play. Call me old school, but this is one of the things that always bugs me when it's wrong in a video game. It's not a huge deal, but one of those little annoying things that help a game feel more realistic.

If they don't patch at least these three problems ...

1. AI batter aggressiveness.

2. 1B foot off the bag.

3. OF slowdown.

... then it will be a travesty of epic proportions. I implore anyone who hasn't purchased the game to keep your money in your wallet. And I applaud Gamespot for giving this abomination a 4.5. However right or wrong, it is a scathing indictment of this company's half-hearted (or just plain incompetent) quality control measures. Without financial repercussions, they have no incentive to fix this mess.

Re: ***Official MLB 2K9 Retail Version Impressions***

same here...for the most part I am really happy with this game.

The only things I hope are fixed are the AI aggressivness at the plate, the 1B coming off the bag bug, OF's not able to get to bloopers and the freezes I'm getting when trying to load a roster.

Other than that...this game is really going in the right direction
