After some great signs last year, this year feels like back to more of the same.

I just Feel that the Madden series has not changed, since th Next Gen systems have arrived. The series is becoming more about Arcade style than the Actual Sim. To me this is a down grade. NCAA has evolved and Madden has not...
To me NCAA is Clearly the better Football Sim

There's a few of us that have been here since the beginning. Just the mere mention of the word was magic. Madden!

But something terribly wrong has been going on of late. While several of EA Sports other vaunted titles have been basically broken down and built back up again, Madden has essentially stayed the same since it's years on Playstation 2/Xbox. Even the head honcho himself said that they were not interested in radical changes and would rather look to simple feature additions as the way to placate the masses.

Well here are, Madden 11 and guess what, no major changes and a few new features. This also means the same old problems and the withdrawal of previous features (so they can be recycled as new features later...again).

Simply put, after so many years, vets like yours truly are just plain old tired. Tired of the same spin on the same game that doesn't get better, sometimes gets a bit worse. Madden 11 simply lacks creativity. If you have been playing 10 and enjoyed it, then by all means, keep on playing it. The only difference is you'll have more money in your pocket and not as shiny helmets.

I'd give this game a 7. Although it is doing one of O.S'es favorite sayings when it comes to this game "heading in the right direction", it is doing so at a snail's pace IMO, and judging from what other sports games continue to do in different genres, I can't help but think that America's most popular sport (by far) should be much further along than it is right now, and football should be better represented than what Madden 11 has given people.

It's basically a roster update. Only playable because there is no competition and if you want the NFL, this is what you get. Without a competitor there is no motivation to produce a product of quality. This is a long time business practice. It would be very interesting if 2K put out another football game with an editor the likes of Backbreaker. One can dream, can't he?
